Hurray for the "How To Keep Your Volkswagen Alive..." manual! I am 69 year old lady now, but in my late teens, I used the white spiral bound version from the early 1970's to keep my 1970 VW bug alive for over 10 years! The guys at the auto parts store forever gave me a hard time when I'd show up with my shopping list asking for Bosch parts and metric tools, but I persevered because that manual gave me the confidence to do ALL the work on my own VW beginning with dropping the engine to do a valve job, then continuing with regular maintenance, and much more. That manual remained the VW Bug Bible in my family through our lives with additional VW Bugs from '62, '63, '73. More power to you Wawa - not afraid of a little (or a lot) hard work and getting greasy! And, how lucky to have parents who teach and encourage the spirit of accomplishment and independence! You go girl!!!
Wawa, I am glad a fan sent you the "How to keep your Volkswagen alive" manual. My father bought me that same manual back in the mid 1970's along with my 1st car, a 1964 Bug. (It had the crank sunroof, gasoline feed heater, and it was a 6V system.) I have been looking all over trying to find that manual to forward to you, but someone beat me to it. :) Enjoy your Bug!
