    I completely agree with all your points!
    I jumped into this DLC with 0 expectations and the thought of getting to see the squad again and the new music, content etc pushed me thru till the end.
    I wouldn’t say I was disappointed but I wasn’t super happy either. I guess I was ‘content’? But still the feeling after finishing the DLC is like 🥹 “I love these guys” 🥹
    Defo would’ve loved to see actual novelty with the bosses, enemies (lazy like you said), but going thru the EX side quests to upgrade the Boost Attacks was a nice addition I guess. Also I liked how they highlighted the whole struggle between Renan/Dahnan and how each ‘race’ saw Alphen, and his struggles with the whole ‘hero’ name. We saw some humanness there.
    And one major thing I really wish they expanded on is the whole ‘keystone’ thing in the end. How did it end up there? What were the Helganquil’s intentions when they built it? How did Nazamil come to know about the masks? Some plot points that I felt were left untied..
    But still, I’m grateful to Bamco for this! Thru the pros and cons 😄

      @SweisSenpai  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The end points u made there are perfect I would’ve loved to see more info on the keystone. An extra 5 hours of good lore moments could have helped. Thanks so much for the comment :)

      Yh agreed more or less, my main critique is that yeah, it was good, enjoyed my time with it, just not worth 30 bucks for the content we got, stuff like if Nazamil was playable, more dungeons, new Artes, it would’ve helped a lot.

    • @Darkbeast42
      @Darkbeast42 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The "Keystone" was the control center for the mosaleums, while the mosaleums were built to help Rena regulate its dwindling astral energy before the planets merged. The Helganquils built them on and into Rena so they also became a part of the new world after the ending of the main story.
      Nozamil learned about the masks in the first mosaleum after she ran away from the party. When you find her she's looking at a consol with images of the masks on them if I recall correctly. This is all explained in the DLC.

      As someone that's considering buying the game since I was always interested in JRPGS but never really played one: should I buy the dlc too? Is it worth it if I still have to play the main game?

    • @Darkbeast42
      @Darkbeast42 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @huh5950 I recommend you get the main game. If you still want more after you beat it, THEN you should get the DLC. It takes place after the main story so you'll want to beat that first if you don't want to be spoiled.

    When it comes to that statement Namco made about wanting new players to enjoy the DLC….How did no one at Namco thought that the new players will STILL have to buy the base Tales of Arise game for them to get access to said DLC? And they still will have to buy the DLC to play that. Which goes to this question: WHY would these new players buy DLC to a game they haven’t played yet? Shouldn’t they play the base game to see if they like it enough for them to spend that extra $30 and say if they do they most likely beating the game making that whole starting at lvl 70 for new players pretty pointless.

    0:45 it's so sad people have to explicitly state that nowadays. They do have to, though. They have to tell people that it's ok to disagree, that the integrity of your personality is not tied to other people liking what you like. And even with those disclaimers you can find tons of comments insulting youtubers and people that give their opinions about fiction in general. What a sad world...

    I got an extra 10 levels from maxxing out everything in the original game so I started at level 80, and while it was nice to do less grinding, it also made most of the DLC pretty easy, aside from the upper level solo arena fights and a couple "dream sequence" fights. For the most part I felt like I was just kind of going through the motions with the fighting and didn't really have to pay too much attention during battles. I enjoyed some of the side quests and laughed a few times, and overall I liked the Nazamil story, but it was really heavy handed and cliche in its overarching theme of accepting our differences. It all fell kind of flat with me, even though I liked Nazamil as a character (she's pretty insane, really). And getting all the trophies was pretty easy as long as you finish all the content, which wasn't any kind of hassle like some games. It honestly felt like a midway point between the first and what should be a second game. Nothing was really "solved" in the greater world of the game. Also, same as the orginal game is that you max out your skill trees but they keep giving you useless points.

      Honestly. I’m fine with how nothing feels solved at the end of Arise. That feeling is meant to state that Dahna has long way to Go in reconciling it’s hate towards Renans. With Dolihem being the only Willing Renan in history to change this!
      Honestly! The Big Problems I have with this game is how the Execution of its plot is more “Telling” than “SHOWING” us what’s happening!
      And this goes for A lot of the Villain Cast! They Have No Underlings or Lieutenants who would pose a Threat!
      And that Lack of Conflict kills the Game!

    I feel like the Tales series is the most fumbled IP that has potential, Growing up I always thought the big three was Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest and Tales as far as RPGs go, now that list is very different these days and while series like SMT, Persona and Fire Emblem have seen significant growth and you could argue they aren't even niche anymore. Tales has just stayed behind because good lord the worst company that could have Tales is Namco :|

    I don't think its high expectations at all, especially because Tales fans have wanted the quality it was once known for for 10 years now, and many diehard and harcore fans saw how the series started falling since Zestiria. I had my doubts about the DLC and didn't buy it. I knew it was going to be disappointing and to hear so many of the complaints and worries. It's sad that Bamco did it for money. I remember they announced that there would be no DLC for Arise, then turned around with it a few years later...it definitely screamed money, and its very apparent with what you've listed. I wish they pulled a Graces F and added new mechanics and artes because the future arc was amazing and that should have been the baseline for additional afterstory content.

    After just finishing the game i will say this felt like cash grab.
    $30 is not worth it plus the outfits behind another play wall.
    I enjoyed the new music and some side quests, but it just felt like tedious fetch quest constantly, especially the main story.
    Alphen and shionne seemed more awkward together even though a year past. Ending boss was just a beef boss with too much health to prolongue fight.
    The story was interesting but i would have loved to have Vholran as cameo appearance, instead we got little tid bits but whatevs. The game makes it feel forced for you to like nazumil as character but i did not really care for her, she kinda was problem why everything happened.
    They could have made a great DLC out of this which made me hyped, but after finishing it i was bit sad and left conflicted.
    THE TEASE AT THE END WITH ALPHEN AND SHIONNE! BRUH. At least give us a moment to enjoy watching the characters.
    Mid asf DLC. Not worth $30. Hope they can build and get set for next title of series and move away from whatever this was.

    I'm sorry, but I cannot disagree more with the fandom's opinion that the Beyond the Dawn DLC is a mediocre cashgrab. I loved my time with the DLC, seeing the cast and world again, and enjoying whatever the expansion offered to me. And the combat is still amazing, regardless of the lack of new artes, new enemies, or new playable characters. Plus we still get a few new dungeons and a couple of new bosses to fight.
    I find it kind of "funny" that some of the people who are complaining over the DLC having no new artes added also complained back then about the base game's DLC artes being locked behind a paywall via DLC cosmetics. So a DLC expansion not having new artes added is bad now?
    It sounds like the people who are disappointed with the DLC is because they were expecting it to be a new game with a bunch of new stuff added, when in reality it ended up being what it was always advertised as, an extension of the base game. It's mainly targeted towards Arise fans who enjoyed the characters and story and wanted to see what happened to the world after the final fight, not the combat fans who were expecting new gameplay mechanics or new playable characters. imo this DLC gets way more criticism and hate than it deserves.
