Indeed I hated Baten K at first but after getting into the story I started to get pulled & then I was hooked on it & the music. Then I was forcing myself to learn the card system which took me a long time but still was not a master on it.
Only the basic understanding of the card system I was able to pick up so I could see what lies further with the story of 1 & 2. So this time around I hope to understand it better & hope they put in Qol improvements to make it easier to play & give more time to learn the card system without dying that much lol.

Still got the GameCube version. The PS2 versions also came with the gem mechanic fixed. You could just originally get all the moves no matter how you used the gems. It was supposed to be that you can only go down a certain path, and if you want to change the path you unlearned the skills.
I am not paying that much for it, when I have the GameCube game and it has no real problems.

For comparison, even if I did the same with Metroid Prime, I'd still choose the remastered version on switch for the graphical upgrades, qol features, and a greater ease of use getting motion controls to work. THAT'S what people want out of a modern port

About 4 years ago, I found a complete in-box copy at a used game store for 20 bucks and instantly picked it up. Never got around to replaying it, so when I heard about the remaster, I was beyond excited. Bought it because I figured it had the potential to be a limited run game. Was going to play it after finishing Hogwarts Legacy, and then Prime remastered, but now...idk... It's good to hear where they ported the game from, I heard someone get it wrong and say they ported the Steam version. I beat the game about 11 times and I really wish the developers put some effort into the remaster, it's painful to see it at 30 FPS and the fact that they seemingly slowed down the Toize Valley mine which was already tedious.

I mean I personally wouldn't care if they just straight up ported the PS3/PC/GC version without making any changes (sides upscaling if they did the GC version as PS3/PC already got that done more or less) as that would help further with game preservation/bringing it to new audiences (like the many people that don't play PC/don't have a PS3/GC) however it should've been priced appropriately for a 20 year old game that already got a remaster when this remaster added almost nothing...it should've been $20 or a bit less and absolutely no more than $25.
The ONLY justification for this $40 or even up to a $60 price point would've been if they added Dawn AND Phantasia Nakiri Dungeon X (best version of Phantasia on PSP with a lot of new content and of course localized it and KEPT all the skits this time (GBA, only official version of Phantasia, removed all optional skits from the game to make it wasier to translate)) so that we'd have all the games that occur in the Aselia world.
Sides that the ONLY other way to justify a higher/standard price would've been if they went with a full on remake of the game (granted has it's own issues such as that would likely mean content would be removed such as some optional locations, enemies that don't have a model in any recent game, some minor side quests/storyline, etc and more likely than not they'd need to replace all the VAs due to either them being too high budget now that Namco won't want to use them OR they have either retired/passed away in the years since Symphonia first came out...and personally I never liked anyone's performance that voiced Lloyd after Scott Menville and I cannot see anyone but Cam Clarke playing Kratos tbh)...it also probably wouldn't take them a few more years to do something like this so they probably should've aimed for the 25th anniversary in 2028 to celebrate Symphonia again with such a remake (other main reason they likely chose Symphonia this year was cause it's the 20th anniversary for the game and Japanese fans/devs love to do stuff for 10 year anniversaries for whatever reason...while we do anniversaries too in the west it's generally the first 10 year and then the 25th and every 25th year after that we celebrate (i've never really seen anyone celebrate the 20th, 30th, 40th, 60th, 70th, 80th, 90th, etc for anything in the US in grand fashion...at best maybe birthdays (granted that's a yearly thing) but other occasions not really at all sides the first 10th/25th/every 25 years after the first 25th).
The game's my favorite game of all time and I want to play it handheld however I'm gonna be waiting for a price drop to 20 or less before I pick it up (have too many other new games I also want to buy and not enough cash as I used to either).

But then at that point I almost wonder why you wouldn't just wrap an emulator shell around a modified rom of the GC version and ship that instead. Sure it's not technically "running native" but if the product is higher quality at this point who cares? It's clear the PS2 version of the game isn't up to snuff

I dont "hate" it and it looks BEAUTIFUL and i never had 60FPS so I dont miss anything here...
but it DESPERATELY NEEDS TO PATCH:
    - drastic FPS drops in Desert sand or heat/magma or other effects.
    - absurd loading times
    - annoying white screen when battle starts
Definetly inacceptable basics. But its in my eyes patchable and I hope they will solve it.
In days where patch were not possible this would have never passed QA. Now with "patching" we can simply drop QA and just release and post patch in some months but first make the customer angry.

Reason why Bandai Namco used the PS3 version for the remastered port was cause they lost the source code for the GameCube version thus why they couldn't use the GameCube version for any future remastered. It's the same reason why we never seen a Panzer Dragoon Saga remastered. If Bandai Namco wants a Tales of Symphonia in 60fps they either had to remake the game from the ground up or find those lost source codes. Same thing for Sega as well, if they want Panzer Dragoon Saga, the game either had to be remake from the ground up or Sega had to start spying on their employees to see if anyone steal the source codes or not. Also the reason the PS2 version is running the game at 30fps instead of 60fps was cause the PS2 clock speed is much lower than the GameCube. PS2 clock at 147 Mhz while GameCube clock at 162 Mhz so TOS had to cut back most of the framerates in able to keep the full game intact while adding a few minor contents.

It's because back then most games ran at 60 frames per 2nd In a way to me it just felt like analog and digital T v's were forcing the 60 frames on you instead of allowing companies to choose but because we have HD technology On a game like tales of Symphonia 60 frames really doesn't a fancy enough game to make 60 frames really worth it For instance Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 The arcade game on an NES The rock steady battle at the beginning of the game felt like 30 frames But when you play the actual arcade machine version of it like I'm actual machine or the one in the kalamanga collection you can see there's a difference in roxpetty speed between the arcade version indicating the home version felt like 30 frames while the arcade version actually did feel like 60 because of the pace and speed rock steady was moving it when you fought him as a boss At the very beginning of the game of the original arcade game and turtles 2 He felt slower like a 30 frame character on the original nintendo but on the arcade version he felt like he was actually running at 60 Because he was fighting and hitting and moving faster on the arcade version Well in turtles 2 Rock steady feels slow and sluggish And the 60 frames are probably only used back then to make games play and look nicer but now that we have HD technology companies can choose to make a game run at 60 or 30 depending on how much real time is in a game since tales of symphonia doesn't have much real time in it the company thought 60 frames was not necessary and went with the 30 And plus the remastered version is the steam version Where you can choose between 2 intro musics in Japanese The Japanese game cube Intro Japanese singer version of the song and then you also have the PS2 version of the song Which personally I think the PS2 version of the song is better cause it seems more suited to the remastered version of the game Whether a game is 60 frames or 30 frames does not matter As long as you play and enjoy the game that's all that matters That's why the company keeps using 30 frames Cause you fans complain too much they're teaching you a lesson stop complaini mean and play the game for what it is an a games are meant for entertainment you play a game for a game that it's frame rate good grief as long as 30 or 60 frames mix the game plable which frame rate they use doesn't matter Cause I play games at both frame rates 30 and 60 and I'm fine with either one as long as I can play and enjoy the game and have good HD resolution quality I am perfectly happy Because the Tennessee P resolution and the improved visual ness of the game is more than enough to make up for the lack of the 60 frames and being only 30 You people play breath of the wild and it's 30 frames and you're not complaining about that and that game is actually an excellent Japanese anime artwork And yet look it The original Hyrule warriors On the switch runs at 1080P and 60 frames Well age of calamity It's only 720 and 30 frames per 2nd Making you wonder why is the newer Hyrule Warriors age of calamity Have weaker resolution and weaker frame rate when it's the new route game and the older game has better resolution and better frame rate If you want to talk about an nintendo game that's been remastered correctly from gamecube look at twilight princess HD That's remastered the right way it may have the stamps in it for the mevers but technically it's mastered the correct way But you don't work for the company so you have no idea the reason why they chose this version of symphonia as a remastered So you really shouldn't criticize the company it might have been the only choice they had cause remember certain data could be corrupted of previous versions or source codes can be lost and they only used what they had that was the only option at the time If you worked at a video game company and own the company even you would realize sometimes situations like that require sacrifices in order to make fans happy sacrifices have to be made because of what's available to you cause there's a passage of time where certain data of games cannot be put on modern day technology or a certain data can be corrupted because of the passage of time or certain source codes could be lost Or certain games cannot be salvaged and they have to use a different version that actually woodwork so sacrifices have to be made so you fans need to realize that you fans do not have any idea of what decisions companies have to make in order to give you your favorite games back so you should appreciate what they can give you Instead of complaining about it Cause usually there is a perfectly good logical reason why they picked this symphonia has a remustard it was probably the only choice they had that would allow us to play it again so stop complaining It might have been the only choice the company had that would have a workable version on the systems they were bringing it to where would actually work on those systems because of what actually support the technology it was probably the only choice they had you shouldn't really complain you fans complained too much when you have no idea what goes on in a video game company Sometimes people like you make me sick Cause you just don't get it Sometimes companies have to make sacrifices I've seen a lot of TH-cam videos where people explain sometimes when somebody remasters something sometimes they had to remaster a Pacific version of music or movie or a game cause sometimes sacrifices have to be made because it is the only version available to them that would actually work on the modern day technologies they're gonna put it on so you should be happy you can play it at all So stop being a little B Cause you have no idea what goes on in the company why they make the choices they do sometimes sacrifices have to be made in order to give fans what they want It may not be the ideal version but as long as it is the game you like that's all that matters even if it's not the same version as long as the game still gives you that same nostalgic feeling that's all it really matters It's like you play a game for a frame rate and not cause you actually like the game that's pathetic

I wanted to buy this game since I enjoyed tales of vesperia on my switch. It’s so sad to see that this game has performance issues. I heard very good things about this game and it’s just disheartening to see that they didn’t optimize this game well for the Nintendo switch. I’ll consider buying it once the game is on sale and if they fix all the bugs in the game.

After experiencing a gazillion fps it's hard to play anything under 60.

I think they hate the remaster for having a lower framerate. The Switch version is apparently the worst port. 1:07 I want that to get remade. I played Tales of Symphonia on the Game Cube. I think Bandai Namco lost the source code for the original. The PS2 version does have better looking visuals. 3:21 Did he steal it? 5:20 I do not remember Colette wearing that. 30 FPS is far from unplayable. It will do. 7:36 PeePeePee! I like the fact that Lloyd sounds like Robin from Teen Titans.
I have the PC version of this game. You might need to make a few adjustments to actually play the game though since there are issues with the steam version and it may not start up. I can mod it to be 4K which isn't entirely necessary but there doesn't seem to be a patch for frame rate. Is it too difficult to fix? Despite the issues it was better than the Switch Version.

Yup, they lost the source code for the GC version so they’ve been using the PS2 version. And the costumes that the party is wearing @5:20 are cameo outfits put in the game through Symphonia Chronicles: Guy from Abyss for Lloyd, Rita from Vesperia for Colette, Luke from Abyss for Genis, and Ludger from Xillia 2 for Kratos in that clip.

I don't know about you, but my wife and I have been loving this game! And I've played through the GC version many times.

Skies of Arcadia and tales of symphonia, the one two punch of awesome. I best both games but seeing the latter remastered makes me happy. No one shoukd hate on this AT ALL.

I think it's more about loving the game, but hating how the remaster was butchered.
