That transfercase crossmember turned out sick!...Thanks for working with me and getting those engine mounts cut out and shipped out so quickly, I can't wait to get them welded up and installed!

Just a suggestion that you may find helpful with that bender is to do your measurements and then get some wire. Another guy I follow has done a million crossmembers and he uses a welding wire to get the shape and bends a wire. It is a template he uses at the bender so he can stay on track. Barnes 4 wheel drive makes a ton of brackets too that save a lot of time and money ready to weld. like hoops and towers for suspension mounts. The channel I watch is "Fab Rats." He has a really bad ass FJ rock crawler that I know had the purists screaming! Nothing too shiny, mostly rock crawling and 4 wheeling. Some derby cars too. I know either way you will get it, but his FJ is worth a look!
You can move your radiator forward approx 3 inches by getting radiator that fits inside the core support. I did this when I swapped my LS auto into my FJ40. It allowed me to have a 33 1/2 long rear driveshaft. My T/case is also clocked (atlas). Everything your doing looks good tho.
You should see if you can rig up a foot switch for your tube bender so you just step off when you're at the correct angle.
I worked in a metal shop the summer between my Jr/Sr years of high school and it is amazing how much technology has changed in the last 40+ years. I guess there's no replacing a brake or a welder, but that plasma cutter and other things are much different. By the way, I still close my eyes and turn my head when you weld. Some habits are hard to break and you never forget the pain of the burn in your eyes from a welder.

Man, this keeps getting better and better. Great work! I don't know how your tubing bender is set up, but it looks like it just uses a standard air over hydraulic jack, right? Not sure how feasible this is for you since the bender is only pulled out when you need it, but could you ditch the push style valve on it now and put in a ball valve instead? It'd be a lot easier to throttle your bends to creep up on angles, and once it's off, it's off. You'd need to mount the valve to something though, so again, not sure how practical it'd be for you. Just a suggestion since I hate the one on my press and want to swap it out. lol
Cross member looks sick! I'm learning how to bend tubing as well, it's pretty frustrating to waste money haha
Are you going to use a different front axle? I keep seeing the driver-side drop transfer case and passenger-side drop axle and can't help but wonder what the plan is for that.
I was wondering the same thing on the first video setting the drivetrain in.
He hasn't said. But I am betting superduty axles.

Sorry for making all the extra work for you. lol. But you will probably be happier with the end results. It's looking great. Funny I was staring at my current project this afternoon. Trying to figure out a transmission crossmember. I think mine will be very similar as it's the same mount. When you get the ring. They usually don't come with instructions. I like to use a paper gasket between the t-case and the ring. Run the studs into the ring flush with the t-case side with some lock tight before you mount it. Let the lock tight dry. Then you can install the ring. Use some lock tight on the counter sunk bolts also.

Brilliant job as usual. I only have two comments. If you have these holes (in engine mounts etc) so that the frame rivets fit in them, secure them well with silicone or sealant, because it will make a small water tank and it will rust very quickly in this place. The second thing is about that transfercase crossmember: th-cam.com/video/Vl8mGqRvFOk/w-d-xo.html These welded arch-shaped reinforcements on the edges of the tube should be from above for the same reason. There will always be mud and moisture, which will cause rust to appear quickly. But overall it's a really great job and I like it a lot.
Don't forget for every degree of angle you gain in the rear you will lose on the front.
I would weld a new neck on the rad with a 90, that still looks too close to the alt
I’m loving this series! Back in high school I had a 1965 FJ-40 with a 427 BB in the same color. Had so much fun with the build, so this is definitely giving me nostalgia and fulfilling my dreams as this is how I would have loved to build the rig!

Champion makes an LS swap radiator that fills o the driver side, top hose comes out on passenger side and has a steam port.
We used an universal dual pass for my son's Jeepster's 5.3 swap. Both outlets are on the passenger side. I did have to cut the lower outlet off and re weld it back on to work better for us. It keeps the rig too cool in winter. And perfect in summer.
