    Helpful, my 2012 is leaking like crazy. Not sure how to tell if the box is bad or if it just needs seals. What did you refill it with? Was expecting red ATF+4.

      We just used the factory suggested power steering fluid. Thanks for watching.

    Great video pretty similar design and procedures for a JL wrangler. I am about to tackle this by myself, I am replacing the crappy aluminum box for a steel one.

    0:58 I don’t know if you’ve fixed the whine already but I fixed mine by doing a belt kit, it turned out to be either the belt tensioner or the belt idler I can’t seem to remember which one tho

      We actually replaced the pump, tensioner pully, belt, and both hoses, along with the steering box...the entire system but still have hard turns when first starting. Working on figuring out what we missed. Thanks for watching and leaving good information. Have a blessed day.

    Where did you buy the replacement steering box?

    • @DunnageGarage
      @DunnageGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      It was one of the 3 O’Rielys, Advance, or Auto Zone.

    What is that tool called at 1:59 to pull the link from that shaft?

    • @DunnageGarage
      @DunnageGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pitman arm puller. Thanks for watching.

    Luckily i know everything you're touching. Just for people who are green to the work should probably explain the steps and why you're doing it a certain way.

    How do i know if my box is broke?

    • @DunnageGarage
      @DunnageGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question, leaking box or locked up steering would be big concerns. This jeep has really hard steering when its first started in the cold. We replaced the pump and hoses, the box was all that was left....then we started replacing the parts again to figure out what replacement part was bad. It has been a confusing process.

      On the earlier models you will
      See a leak coming from the pitman arm seal area
