  • I get asked all the time, "What kind of steering should I add to my Jeep?" The PSC Big Bore Box is not new product to anyone, but it's our opinion from a Jeep Shop that see's the PSC box all the time.

NOBODY packs their product better than PSC! When I got my Big Bore it was the hardest unboxing I ever did...50 industrial staples, nested between heavy duty molded foam.
I went with the Big Bore XD w/ high vol pump, resi and cooler etc. I had no intentions of going bigger than 37s and thought I didn't have the need for ram assist. Initially, everything was great. Turned my 37x13.50 STT Pros with a finger, even with lockers engaged...til you're pinned up against the rocks on the more technical stuff. 1st trip wheeling with the Big Bore, half way through the 1st rock garden I immediately regretted not going with the XDII-R. If you're going that far, a couple more hundred for the ported box won't kill you. Even if you don't initially want to run ram assist then you can just keep it capped and if ever in the future you want to upgrade you're a couple of hoses away. In the end, I ended upgrading and luckily recouped and offset the cost from selling the Big Bore XD. Not saying the XD doesn't have it's place, just depends on what you plan on doing and terrain you're wheeling. Techy rock crawling stuff, go ported.

The stock steering box on the Jeeps are junk. If you have steering issues that can't seem to be corrected don't let the Jeep dealer, mechanic, or even other Jeep owners say" It's a Jeep thing...It's just how they drive"... I understand they do not handle like a sports car, but I see a lot of steering problems are being misdiagnosed. The steering box is sometimes the root of steering issues that is often overlooked.
