Hello Jesse! Excellent how to video!!! You did a really good job and explained everything so we could all understand what you were saying! Hope we don't have to wait to long for part 2 video! John...
Really good video!!! I'm certain I could do this myself now. this is the 3rd cartridge install I have watched. only difference is another guy ran the axle through the forks to ensure they were lined up. Can't wait to see the ride video. Oh, the gold looks 100% worth it.
@@espeed3498 I’ve seen people do that, I mic’d mine out at the top so they are perfectly even, axle went right in. There’s not much you can do to align as they spin, just height from fork leg to fork leg obviously. Can’t wait to get part 2 out, we did some great riding right after install and got right to scraping floorboard!
@@victory1033 man the cartridges seriously make it a completely different bike. I’d test ride a cvo st with inverted forks and a bike with cartridges to help make the decision. The ride quality difference between the 2 for 99.8% of people and riding just don’t warrant the extra 4-6k for an inverted setup!
@@victory1033 I am a huge proponent of being okay with spending more for a better quality product, buy once cry once type mentality. But I truly believe in this case, the bang for buck AND quality with this setup just can’t be beat.
Nice work on the install video! Looks good! Just curious...do the dust caps fit under the cow bells? Might add a set next time I change fork oil! Thanks for sharing...stay safe out there!!😎🤙👍🤙👍🇨🇦
@@PinksAdventures being that the cow bells fit around the forks legs which are bigger than the seal going into the fork leg, I believe yes they will fit!🙌
I think the manual states that when you torque the lower two pinch bolts, you do upper lower and then one more sequence that’s it other words, upper lower upper lower… otherwise they will keep going and going, and you will crease the forks
@@jeffrobinson1184 good to know, I’ve always done forks like this, torque spec was reached after a couple back and forth and everything is solid, but by all means follow the manual to a T if possible!!🙌🍻
Good video, I installed Ohlins cartridges in my 2016 CVO Street Glide, then also in current bike 2019 CVO Limited, my only recommendation is you need to get a lift, not a jack, you're a young guy, I'm 67 and was a Honda tech back in the 70's and 80's, I wish I would got one long ago, makes life easier, just got on last year, as much as you work on you bike, also I see other bikes in your garage that I'm sure you service, you will thank me, also I would get a tire machine, I hate paying a shop to mount my tires and damage the rims, also Handy lifts has a sale going on now
Good suggestion, I’ve actually been scouring fb marketplace local to me in the hopes of finding a well built, older used one. If I can’t find one I’ll end up with one of the Harbor Freight ones.
I don’t think the cowbells are designed to protect from dirt. I think they’re just for looks. I had Ohlins on my 2018 RG. Contemplating putting them on my 2023 RG CVO.
I agree, I don’t think the MOCO directly labels them as protective from dirt, but I fully believe they rely on them to keep dirt off the tubes and from running down the seals. I couldn’t believe how bad my fork legs were internally for 6500 miles. I’m used to inverted fork bikes and have not seen shit like that..
@@MotoNorseman just price, the ride quality from cartridges is damn good, inverted forks isn’t worth the price difference to me. Plus honestly for touring, regular forks are better, if you have a leak you can still go thousands of miles without losing ride quality, inverted forks, they leak, it’s on your tire and it’s over

Thank you for the suggestion though, that may definitely help some folks here out!!🍻

I’m impressed by the use of the jack stands. lol. I may need to implement that when washing the bike.

I installed the Wilburs front and back suspension on mine and I love it. Keep us posted on how they feel after a couple of months on the Ohlins.

@OffWeekGarage yeah my circle is European ducati mostly. What a big wonderful world of motorcycles we live in haha.
Are you sure the ohlines part number is correct. I’m looking at it and I think you got the fks 231 but I may be wrong
Yes, the FKS 231 is the same as the FKS 228 but comes with the tools and oil. Both part numbers are Nix 22
More Tucker!
Yes… absolutely…🤗
What is the part number for the dust seals please?
Thanks for reminding me, added to video description! James Gaskets 49mm dust seals, part #: 46512-01
What is Dan bike slip-on ?
Shark Road 4.5-in slip-ons, he likes them for an affordable, good sounding, good looking setup!
Just a tech tip man never assemble seals from the bottom way more at risk damaging the seal going over that bushing lip
