Often overlooked and terribly underrated... Gaslight Anthem is absolutely incredible. To have experienced them live was mind blowing. Brian Fallon is my hero.
First time I ever saw them, they were the first band on the bill. We actually missed part of their set bc of traffic. Sooo many shows after that. One of the more memorable was when they opened for The Bouncing Souls on the boardwalk, inside the arcade at convention hall.
@@zonethreephoto it's one of those albums that as time passes will be appreciated more. They don't have a bad album. Get Hurt doesn't have a bad song at all.
People change, bands evolve, but there is NO OTHER BAND I would rather see right now than Gaslight Anthem. I love everything they do. F*cking great music.
I like to remember this as The Gaslight Anthem swan song. Brian has continued to release great albums, but the way the lead guitar colors, and the licks add to the emotion of his writing, is Gaslight-only material. I love Gaslight. I love Brian. I love music.
I'm pretty sure I can listen to all their albums all the way through, without skipping one song. This is my favorite to blast as I'm driving on the highway to or from work. But I have to say, my favorite song off this album is "Red Violins". By the last chorus, I have goosebumps.
This....This is really what a music video should be. The song, with Brian's usual lyrical depth and complexity, talking about about a night that is a dream, juxtaposed with the images from a Gaslight Anthem concert showing the night was very real. You don't need anything other then images of the band or the crowd to get lost in this story and in some ways feel like you were a part of that night...even though for you it really was just a dream.
This band is simply brilliant. I love everything about them. I had a chance to see them once in California but my mother told me no. One of my goals in life is to see this band live and I plan on making that goal happen. This band is just ugh, it deserves way more fans then what they have but that doesn't change the fact that the music is still good.
+Veevee88 you're gonna have to wait a while though, since the've taken a break and won't be touring. But when you do finally see them it will be worth the wait. I seen them last month after being a fan for about 6 years and boy was it great! I can easily say it was the best night of my life!!!
I am sure that you will one day get to see them live! I have seen them live multiple times, once when it was their first tour to Australia and they played in this tiny little venue in Melbourne where you could reach out and touch them. They're amazing live and I truly hope that you get to have that experience!
Saw this tour 4 times, and I'm glad I did because they never got to Australia often. I've seen a lot of live music, and TGA were consistently the best live music experience of my life. I will never, ever, ever, stop being sad that they're no longer making music, but still wish every success for the two Alexes, Ben, and Brian.
Lucky enough to see these guys a few months ago, when they were in Sydney again...this track would without a doubt be up there with one of my favourite tunes by this amazing band. This song, seriously just makes you smile and sing along! Love it, keep RAWKIN! yew! oh it was worth it....dont know if another track for a thousand years will come along like this!
Your comment made me laugh! Too immature to not laugh when the interpretive dance bursted forth in the Get Hurt video....I don't know how they played with straight faces while filming it 😆
I disagree with both of you. I think the woman moved to the songs extremely well in both get hurt and 1,000 years. Go to the part in the song where brian goes “and it’s gets (it’s gets) really late, and the stations will change...” it’s really cool she sort of throws her body to the rhythm of the song.
I personally love this song, even more so after seeing them play it live. There are always going to be haters when a band brings out a new album but i love Get Hurt. Ok it's slower then say Sink or Swim but that's how the band has shaped this album and there are some great songs on it.
I’m an alt rock/grunge guy mainly so handwritten and get hurt are my 2 faves by these guys. Don’t know why people say this is their worst album as it goes hard.
Long before I was born there were Neil young, Beatles, Bruce springsteen, etc! That were what got more peoples attention. These days especially but last 10 years it gotten more the bullshit type of music in focus more. But don't forget dudes like Hozier and some other get attention. Wish more rock n roll were wanted though but people want real music not fake like many artists today. Thats why Bruce Springsteen still is big and Paul macarthny is still up there.
+Fredrik BM I miss guitar in music.....it seems to all be composed on macs now. There's still some really good modern music but......seems like a lot of it just lacks soul. It's like eating cake when what you really want is a big nourishing steal potatoes and broccoli LOL
I'll kinda feel like the intro to the song is like a loud Camaro, burning off from a stop light. After that the song turns into a pair of skinny jeans.
When I heard last week that they were releasing a video for this song, I was so excited and expecting a short film kinda video, like the "Handwritten" one, I think it would've been more suitable, this song is so powerful. But still, it's Gaslight Anthem, they can't go wrong either way
+Sky Dog You missed one hell of a show, It was amazing. The amount of noise that people made when Brian yelled "We Have a Star on the Wall" was astounding!
The only good part of LIVING AND GROWING UP IN NEW JERSEY!!!! Our music scene and NJ born bands....this state is like quick sand....but their are few bands that hold up to real music like this nowadays....brian himself is great solo as well...lots of crazy nights at the stone pony and starland ballroom....WHO GREW UP AND STILL LIVES IN NJ?
I can't decide what song from this album I love the most, they're all great. And all of you who can't stop saying shit of how they changed for worse, just shut the hell up. You can't understand that nothing can stay the same forever, you can't go to high school your entire life or do anything for eternity. Everyone who loves this song should check the acoustic version with Brian and Alex(Cardinal Sessions). I fell in love with that version and I just can't get it out of my head, it's so amazingly beautiful...
Runawayto Sam'sTown And as an add, you guys should check out a movie called Evening, it's like this song is based on it. It's an incredible movie, and even more incredible if you watch it knowing this song.
but then you give me no all lights or not the same they all have everything to say what we got to say about everything keeps your life together be strong picture mentality after to where it should be and maybe the world will survive
Great song and video! Love that intro riff! Check out the live Gaslight Anthem videos on my channel, including Brian Fallon jumping off a balcony into the crowd in London.
Have Mercy for me,I must say that Elsie ,Handwriitten and Get Hurt albums have been life changing, saw Gaslight live in Birmingham on sunday Fantastic :-)
***** Rolling and Tumbling just doesn't do it for me, completely agree with the others though, especially Dark Places, wish they'd played it live when I saw them! Ain't That a Shame is good too, that's been the grower on the album for me.
This band... I don't think "thank you" will ever do enough.
Indeed. They basically taught me music.

Underrated album, too from these guys.
First time I ever saw them, they were the first band on the bill. We actually missed part of their set bc of traffic. Sooo many shows after that. One of the more memorable was when they opened for The Bouncing Souls on the boardwalk, inside the arcade at convention hall.

9 years later, still accurate

I miss this band so much, what an experience it was to have seen them live
So glad to have been part of this memorable show at first Ave when this video was recorded and More thankful to see them again in September!!!

I hope you've seen the recent news - they're back, new music on the way!
Yay! I was there. Awesome show! Can't wait for the next one in Minneapolis!! March 13!!

Great video. I was at that show, and I regularly spin this song on my internet radio program.
Awesome video! It captured everything I love about a great Gaslight show!
1
Love it, exactly what a music video should be, capturing the energy and fun of a live performance. No interpretive dance
Your comment made me laugh! Too immature to not laugh when the interpretive dance bursted forth in the Get Hurt video....I don't know how they played with straight faces while filming it 😆

Love this band and everything they've done! The Gaslight Anthem are KILLING it.
How in the hell does this not have more views?

Here viewing in 2018!!

I'm Glad to discover TGA they saved my life since HS
Welcome back LEGENDS
Great song. One of my favorites from Get Hurt. TGA just keeps getting better and better.
My favorite song on the album. Has been since the first time I heard it.

Incredible! Sorry I missed this show and I live 20 minutes from First Avenue.

war is always there for the righteous that wants to take them to the water of life on the oasis in the deserts of life
but then you give me no all lights or not the same they all have everything to say what we got to say about everything keeps your life together be strong picture mentality after to where it should be and maybe the world will survive

YEEEEEEEEEEE MINNEAPOLIS!!!
Great song and video! Love that intro riff! Check out the live Gaslight Anthem videos on my channel, including Brian Fallon jumping off a balcony into the crowd in London.
kinda sad that they broke up :/
I like them much more before
I loved the first half of this album. Not sure what happened on the second half :/
I think you went deaf.
Yea, or the songs just got slow and I realized "Break Your Heart" is a total ripoff of "I Won't Back Down" by Tom Petty.
iHatebologna59 No that stay with me song by sam smith is a rip off of tom petty's wont back down. Seriously check it out if you haven't, it's bad.
No way, 'Rollin And Tumblin' is probably my favourite on the album, and 'Dark Places' is also really great
William Stacey I thought that song was supposed to be using a Tom Petty sample or something! Turns out it's just a total ripoff haha
palm trees and coconuts on video oasis
armin van
One of the weaker songs of the album...which says A LOT about their quality!
You think this is one of the weak ones? What do you think the strong ones are, genuinely interested :)
Stephen Powell For me it's Helter Skeleton, Rolling & Tumbling, Break Your Heart and Dark Places but there aren't any *bad* ones.
Stephen Powell I love Dark Places but I worry it might replace Backseat as a set closer. We can't have that!
Barbara Streisand music
Meh... But First Avenue FTW!
ZZZZzzz sounds like a starbucks lobby. What the fuck happened to this band?
So good
