I love this car how it performs and sounds and for the money it’s a no brainer. It’s been developed in Germany at the Nurburgring hence the N designation.
Plus it is ready to track pretty hard out of the box. It would dominate the others right off the lot. I think that's one of the big selling points for me but the N may not be the best if you never want to drive it hard.
I love my EN, the price is perfectly set right in between the Gti, Si and the Type R, Golf R. There was a void there and Hyundai is taking advantage of it
Definitely Elantra N over Kona N. Even if I am a hot hatch fun, its still better in a sports compact sedan than a SUV with sporty character. Its a pity we don't get the i30N and i20N as ROW does.
It's a really fun affordable sports car. I purchased 2019 G70 3.3T AWD and It has been very reliable, FUN and I love my G70. If I was looking for a car right now I'd definitely get Elantra N over other cars.
Cross shopped both and went Kona N. Prefer hatchbacks for practicality and chucking around. I own a drum shop so need space. The Elantra with the long body and brace in back just kills it for me.
@@aono335 I’m a drummer. Try putting a double bass drum set with rack in the Elantra and get back to me on that. Hatchbacks for me a way more practical for me that’s why I drive the Kona.
Kona N is easier to get into and out of. The higher ride height is better in snow climates. And, you can actually carry more types of things in the Kona. Hyundai has much better reliability and warranties than VW. You can average much higher mpg at lower costs, even in the city, but using top tier regular gas and staying off the turbo. I own the Kona N, and get 30-34 mpg using smart driving technics. 🧐🤗 Another great review, and Andrea once again color coordinated her wardrobe. 😇👍
Good point about the Kona being easier to get in and out of, that makes a huge difference for some. Hyundai is at the top of the list along with Kia in the recent JD Power dependability study, they are killing it these days. Thank you, really glad you enjoyed the review!
It doesn’t have better reliability than VWs, don’t see Hyundais driving 300-500k km on original parts unlike VWs, and definitely not still looking brand new without wear and tear.
The Elantra N Line I think has the drive mode button on that empty space of the screenon the left. Anyway its been a month with my N and I love it. I am not too sure about taking it on long road trips only because of the bucket seats, the lack of lumbar support can get annoying during long drives. The back seat has plenty of leg room. Gas mileage is great, I've managed to get 7 lt / 100 kms by driving it in normal mode for regular drives, there are some who've managed to get even better gas mileage. This is a very practical daily driver that can transform into this monster with the switch of a button, kind of like a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hide :D
I personally like the standard Elantra styling. A futuristic, aero dynamic shape with(what I think is) elegent styling. Citroen-esque minus the crazy stuff inside the car. The worse thing about them is the grill, which isn't that bad. The N makes it meaner, without going overboard. I say kudos to Hyundai for styling. I think I would go for dct Elantra is I had to choose between those two. The Kona is nice, but I like the sedan handling more for a fast car. On a side note a guy I watched on yt years ago had Dodge aries wagon with a 2.4litre turbo engine. He installed a dishwaher delay switch to keep the waste gate closed for 10 seconds. He said it both a fast and reliable workhorse car.
I realize this video is a year old, but that GTI price quoted can't be right. I'm looking at the VW site right now and the 2024 starts at $37,328. I doubt the price has gone up by $6000 in one year. Perhaps he was thinking of the Jetta GLI?
I’m a Honda fan for two very different and strong reasons but I’m going to choose this car over a Type R and Integra Type S. That wet DCT and NGS are basically gold.
I own the base model Elantra with the 6 speed manual, which I love driving. The N would be more fun to drive with the manual transmission IMO, but with the current price of fuel, I'll stick with my 5.5 L/100km at 113 kph (70 mph) highway cruising. Yes, I'm getting better fuel economy than what the EPA estimated.
When I was looking I just knew that model was the gem .. if only I was willing to go to a shifter .. had the model I wanted not been "reasonably priced, I still might have".
I've never understood why people want a power seat in a sporty car. Manual is so much faster & how many people are you really going to share your Elantra N with? Also my short father just had his power seat fail in his Ridgeline in the lowest position & they can't get the parts to fix it & the cheapest they can replace the seat is over $2000 CAD.
Glad to see Hyundai works on petrol powered performance vehicles those days. It seems to have some good stuff to be revealed next week. Let’s see! Btw, gr86 is still the star in 30 to 40 thousand dollar performance class. If it’s not a your only car, highly recommend the gr86/brz, despite the crazy long waitlist

Over the Kona? Absolutely this Elantra. I like it. If it were offered as an estate, I’d be at the dealership writing a cheque. That is … until I had to fill out the final amount. Basically $40 large?!? At that point… The Volkswagen suddenly has the most amazing product (stoic styling/German engineering/a hatchback! (not a useless barred pass through)) that is priced to perfection (grrr.. why did VW give up on their estates/sport wagons?). Thanks for the video.
I'll keep my GLI over the Elantra N . The GLI has a good balance of power , handling ,comfort and fuel economy . I noticed the price spread between US and Canada seems high like 7k less for the N in the US is a lot.
As great as this car is I would buy a GTI as my previous 07 had 275,000 km on the dial when I sold it to a friend. It now has 340,000 km on it and going strong.

In Australia Golf GTI base model with no option is not cheap at all and if you option it same spec as Elantra N the price is way over 65K while Elentra N is affordable 55K
It has to do with the size of the screen, the larger screen that Hyundai offers on its Vehicles doesn't support wireless Apple carplay in Android auto, your son's model must have the smaller screen
We had a poll about this in forums and about 6% use regular. No harm but when you have track days use premium for added power. Its only $5 a fillup more so why not enjoy more performance.
That’s messed up! On the U.S. model, you can’t get a sunroof with the manual. For Hyundai doing that I would not buy it and spend my money on another car brand that offers a sunroof with a manual transmission.

The Elantra N spoiler makes it look like something and 18 y/o would like driving and a cop would like stopping. I see zero utility use with the bar blocking off the trunk with the seats down. Finally, the MGP is laughable. Yes, I understand that car manufactures designed prior to the current fuel crisis. However, everyone who designed this way and thought they were designing for mainstream drivers got it wrong. It is about future government regulations, long term costs (including resale), and global warming.

Gearing, wheelbase, weight, stance, center of gravity, etc all play into how a car will accelerate, transform raw potential power into movement. But, I bet you've never thought of that. Oh, so the EN in real life runs 13.1 to 13.3 ? So about the same as a Veloster N then ? WOW - you got me there I guess ? How's that 0-60 time working out for you? Yea dude - totally "gaps" the VN by being slower in the 0-60 and according to you, tying the VN in the 1/4 mile. Well played indeed.
Cool car , but can we just forget about all the Kia’s and Hyundais catching fire ? not me . Thanks anyway
Haha, Civic Si ended heated seats.
FWD only. Not interested. Boring torque steering bad stepchild.
The intro was horrible
The Elantra N spoiler makes it look like something and 18 y/o would like driving and a cop would like stopping. I see zero utility use with the bar blocking off the trunk with the seats down. Finally, the MGP is laughable. Yes, I understand that car manufactures designed prior to the current fuel crisis. However, everyone who designed this way and thought they were designing for mainstream drivers got it wrong. It is about future government regulations, long term costs (including resale), and global warming.
