One of the very best interviews… Covers all the points…we see other people (and the doge!) in the gym, see the lifts, get an idea of the composition and training trajectory…
God I wish there were one of these in the northern Virginia area!!

    5:08 He’s 235? Doesn’t really look it, I would’ve thought 195-210. Also put it to 1.75x if you’re short on time

You must have been completely untrained to have those starting numbers. A bit misleading.

Wrong, you have to be untrained in the area of focused strength training. Huge majority of gym goers have pissweak numbers cause they jerk around in the gym, even though theyve been going for years, every day.
Hell even most ppl who take time to look up stuff online end up doing a bro split, pyramid, etc. For a year or two, often on and off, and see to significant gains in strength and muscle mass.
Ive seen people who have been training for 2-3 months each time, on and off, for years, who started doing strength training a short while ago, starting with only 50kg on bench.
Hell, some1 whos training is just running or cycling a lot and maybe lifting some weights, will have low af numbers.
      Unfortinately, most people are weak
      Unfortunately, most people are weak.

Some people start too high, some too low, it's better to start too low because you will just quickly progress yourself up to the point where you are strong and the weight starts getting heavy versus starting too heavy and stalling out too soon because you didn't titrate slowly enough. Regardless HIS FINISHING NUMBERS AFTER ONE YEAR ARE COMPLETELY NORMAL for someone who trains regularly. He is now much stronger than most of the population. THAT IS THE POINT OF STARTING STRENGTH. They are not trying to juke any numbers to sell you something, they are just showing you what is perfectly attainable for most of the population if they just do the program for a couple of months . He stated that he was apprehensive towards hurting himself and SS helped him get past that barrier and start strength training.
