      1000Kbaby.... Actually, Jordan's numbers got that good because he switched to the point position for the last 24 games of the season during the 88-89 season. His numbers were better than Lebron's numbers have ever been. That is how his assists and rebounds got higher. He had 13 triple doubles in 24 games. And this was during the tough defensive error!

    MJ was a good passer, actually a really good passer. He played a TEAM system and did what was asked of him. When he was asked to run point he averaged 33/8/8, when he played the triangle he did what he needed to to win. Yes Lebron is a better passer, but not by much, not much at all. Lerbon can only play in a BRON system and that's why stats alone will never have him be the GOAT. Mj is the GOAT anyone who says otherwise needs to study the game.

    • @andrewgoldin6905

      Bobby D Prior to Pippen, MJ was leading the bulls to 30 win seasons. Without MJ, Pippen led the bulls to 55 wins and a semifinals appearance. I think lebron would lead a weaker team further than Jordan. If I had to win with scrubs I’m taking lebron. If I had a complete team and needed a closer, I’ll take Jordan. Assuming Jordan will fit better in any and all scenarios is the problem with how people view these things.

    What’s really interesting is that people make this argument about Lebron, which they should because he is the best since Jordan, but people don’t really take into account the players that actually played again. From Ray Allen, Kobe, Garnett, Iverson, Mcgrady, Shaq, pierce, all o these players constantly pick Jordan. And they are picking Jordan based off only 3 years of playing against him with the bulls, where he was less athletic but smarter, I have not seen many players that played against both mj and lbj pick Lbj. The majority of players pick mj but a not so close Margin.
    These NBA players played the bulk of LBJ careers and only a small portion of Mj career. People really have to put more power into it the words of the player who actually played against both, rather than putting power into those who never did.
    Vince Carter, Tracy Mcgrady, Allen Iverson, Shaq, Kobe, Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett all pick Mj.
    Shannon Sharpe, Chris Colinsworth, Isiah Thomas all pick LBJ.

    • @wolflg
      @wolflg 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      they were young players looking up to MJ, versus vets looking down at lebron. I like to mention this is all opinion based on what your preference of what a great player is. This is a team sport so that has to be taking into account, I think the players should start shutting down this argument, it used to be HOF and all type great was a great compliment and all sports agreed. Now these many sports shows needs something to talk about so they invented this, and NBA are pretty spoiled and have crazy egos, they have had that even in the 90's ( i have these guys always talking about how they played, they got cheap fouls, tried to build super teams and were friend also). If I'm an all time great that's good enough, its not like this is boxing or tennis

    • @jullianwashintgon8635
      @jullianwashintgon8635 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Londre Gilkey i was not necessarily talking about great players who who pick Michael Jordan over Lebron James who actually played against both of them. The names that I said are just examples of players who picked Jordan over lebron. Just because you are young does not mean you can not evaluate who is better as a player. Especially since that the players I named did not play Michael against a prime Michael. They are saying that a old out of prime Michael is better then Lebron based on their first hand knowledge. So if the played the 91 version of Michael, or the 88 version of Michael, they might be yelling from the roof tops of how much better he was.
      And though many were still young, there were guys like Shaq who was already a MVP candidate and was a bonified Star. Kevin Garnett and Kobe were all stars while Jordan was still in the league 98. Allen Iverson was rookie of the year and scoring over 23 ppg. It’s a exaggeration that they were not great players. That’s like saying Kevin Durrant was not a great player when he made finals against Lebron in old because he was under 21.
      You are correct that these talk shows have really made this discussion something that it has never been. Growing up in the 90s nobody ever said that who was better wilt or Kareem. They were both recognized as amazing basketball players. Nobody compared Magic it Bird in terms of who was better. They were both recognized as amazing players. The Who comparing eras thing is getting old to hear about everyday. With all that being said, in order to really understand that Jordan Lebron debate really talk to the players that played against both, whether they were all time greats or not. Ask Jason Kidd, Antoine Walker, Gary Payton, Grant Hill, etc.

    • @_Maxten
      @_Maxten 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      does that really matter? its like oscar robertson and wilt chaimberlain. people like to negate their accolades because their competition wasn't as good but they still accomplished what they accomplished. what these players do (LBJ included) is still impressive regardless. with that logic, could ANY player who didn't play in the 90s and 80s be put on that level next to MJ?

    • @jullianwashintgon8635
      @jullianwashintgon8635 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Maximillian I never said that players from today’s era of basketball can not be put on the lbj of accolades. I said that in terms of basketball, nba players that played against both Michael Jordan and Lebron James pick Michael Jordan. I definitely believe that a player could be on the same lever as Michael Jordan. But my statement was based on the players inside knowledge of how the game is played. They are the only was who truly know who was tougher to guard, or who was a better defensive players, or who’s mentality was more killer. There are many players from the Jordan era of basketball, and the Lebron James Era of basketball. Jordan’s career ended in 2003. Lebrons first year was in the Nba was 2003-2004 season. So there were plenty of players that have played the bulk of Lebron James Career and the later part of MJ Career.
      I don’t discount the accolades of players that came before Michael Jordan. But youin terms of my statement it was only discussingnba players views of the conversation. Not analyst like skip Bayles, Shannon sharpe, Max or Steven A, only players. And the players that played against both still regard Michael as better than Lebron.
      I do that people of this generation can be put of that same level. Kevin Durrant, Kobe, Lebron, Harden, are all floating in around that can easily be in the top 20 players of all time.
      And yes and persons or players first hand account is way more important than someone opinion of what they think that they are watching.

      Man, you should have seen the 2017-2018 season! LeBron carried the Cleveland Cavaliers concessions and janitorial staff to the NBA finals. And they almost won a game! It was insane. I wish you could have seen it.
      Lol
      On a serious note, any great player without a great team around him “has to struggle”. See MJ’s early years for proof. Take away Scottie and you take away rings. LeBron never got a Scottie in Cleveland. Closest he came was Kyrie. And Rie wasn’t having that. Can’t blame the man for trying over half a decade and then seeking help elsewhere. I’m from a city where our greats legacies are diminished because the team catches L’s habitually. I wouldn’t have been mad at Barry or Megatron or Miggy leaving town to get the Chip.

    • @kcire-tv3wy
      @kcire-tv3wy 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pedro Justice.... It's just a difference in the game in general. That is something people don't delve enough into to really find out what those differences are and how they affect the way the game was played then and is played now.
      Deon Knott.... Jordan didn't "get" the Scottie Pippen you all here about. He was drafted to Chicago from Central Arkansas and was placed with Jordan, as Phil Jackson put it, to learn the tricks of the trade. Pippen wasn't even a starter his first year. His first 4 years in the league (leading up to their first chip) looks like this:
      7.9ppg 3.8rpg 2.1apg 20.9mpg 46.3%fg 57.6%ft
      14.4ppg 6.1rpg 3.5apg 33.1mpg 47.6%fg 66.8%ft
      16.5ppg 6.7rpg 5.4apg 38.4mpg 48.9%fg 67.5%ft
      17.8ppg 7.3rpg 6.2apg 36.8mpg 52.0%fg 70.6%ft
      Lebron has played with plenty of great players but he does not know how to help players develop and forces them to play in the Lebron James system because he cannot play outside of that system. Kyrie was that person who could've been like a Scottie but what did Lebron do but chase him out. If you do a numbers comparison, Kyrie's numbers are better than Pippen's numbers (Pippen is a better rebounder)!
      It has nothing to do with the coaches or the players, it is Lebron who is the problem but you all will not face that fact!

      yes, probably weakest part of his game, but that doesnt mean he's not a good passer. Could still mean a great passer,.. just that he does all other things much better. Search MJ's assists highlights in youtube and they're also amazing especially the fact that he grabs the ball with one hand, the angles of his passes are just crazy.
      MJ got lower apg just because he did not have to man the playmaking... we need to consider the system their team plays.... Lebron would have the ball to make plays ~70% of the time, that would result to more assist than MJ who played in a system in which he is the preferred receiver of the assist.

      Retro Da Vinci I’m a Knicks fan so I used to hate Bird. But, Bird was a 10 out of 10 in everything except athleticism. MJ had much greater athleticism but Bird was right there in just about everything else. Bird played in an era when there were a lot of great small forwards and is arguably a top 5 player of all time behind MJ. He won MVP 3 years in a row. The guy was mad clutch and incredible shooter. He would dominate in today’s game.

      @@LargeDude2023 his lack of athleticism will make him a defensive liability which will just make him a glorified kyle korver. They game has changes and more than likely he would have to be on the warriors to look like bird.

      Retro Da Vinci If you compare Bird to Korver, you must have never seen Bird play. Bird was the ultimate competitor. THREE STRAIGHT MVPs. Bird would be even more dominant today. He had a post up game, great with both hands, very good handle, and could shoot from anywhere on the court as well as being an unbelievable passer. Before the back injuries Bird was the most dominant player in the NBA. He is arguably the best skilled player ever, although I give it to MJ. Bird could get you 24 and 12 every night back then. Bird was also top 10 in steals twice and people remember the big steal against the Bad Boy Pistons and assist that won Boston the game in the playoffs.

    Jordan is the best offensive player ever. And I think he is the best perimeter defender ever. To use a football analogy, Jordan is a combination of Tom Brady and Lawrence Taylor. Lebron is more of a combination of Aaron Rodgers and a slightly above average defender, like you see on most football teams. Lebron will forego defending his man so he can cheat toward the basket to pad his rebounding stats. Jordan never did that.

      Jordan was more athletic, better(Godly) at getting to the basket and finishing than Kobe, But Kobe was basically better at everything else. Kobe was better at creating his own shot, making shots, More skilled, Better 3pt shooter, better shooter overall, better footwork, better court vision, better passer, Kobe was more skilled at scoring. THeres things on the court that Kobe could do that NO ONE in NBA history can, not even Jordan. Kobe was GREAT at getting to the basket too, obviously but not as good as Jordan, just like Jordan was GREAT at creating his own shot, making shots, footwork and all that but not as good as Kobe. Jordan had a MUCH LONGER PRIME than KOBE. Kobes PRIME was short. AT THEIR PRIMES, they were basically on the same level, Kobe was slightly better of a scorer in my opinion. Only differences between who wins n loses that day is whos got the hotter hand, thats it.

      Umm Kobe did mentor players he is literally doing that right now and has since he retired and EVEN in his last year. Julius Randle talked about how Kobe mentored him when he was there.

      TOMSoCaLA.... That is absolutely ludicrous! Kobe was not better at creating his own shot, as shown by his lower career field goal percentage. And I won't tryn dissect what you wrote because you constantly contradict yourself. Learn more about the game before commenting.

      Richard Graham.... And Jordan developed players, something Kobe and Lebron can't understand!

    • @richardgraham2659
      @richardgraham2659 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kobe was better at creating his own shot, the problem is you don't understand how to do research so you just look at field goal percentage when it tells you absolutely nothing. Things field goal percentage does not tell you, did you score in isolation, did you score on a fast break, did you score in the post, did you score in a double team or triple team, were you wide open? And that only scratches the surface because field goal percentage does not even accurately track how valuable of a scorer you are. For example Clyde Drexler shoots a higher field goal percentage than Kobe for his career but Kobe score more points per shot for his career than Clyde because he hit more three pointers, and drew more fouls per game. Like I said you don't understand the game if you think field goal percentage tells you anything. All it tells you is how many shot attempts there were and how many were made.
