I am in the same class and I agree. I feel that Leon's sheltered conservative christian background will always come to the forefront when any kind of gender identity issue is discussed, just as it is with many others with the same background. I know there are many people with varying opinions regardless of their upbringing. I don't suspect many people with a very liberal upbringing would feel the need to "raise an eyebrow" over gender issues to this extent but for me, It's not a reason to unsubscribe. I have a choice like everyone else about which episodes I watch 😉
Respect for really considering your content/path and discussing it publicly! I personally have begun to actively realize how I watch a lot of "negative" content despite my goals being to focus on the positive unless otherwise necessary. I don't like how I watch drama online, videos about how people are bad, etc. I still do it, but am making an active effort to limit and will be sure to do so more. It's good for you to think about your focus on that, but if you are comfortable with it then it is of course what people are looking for and so is totally fine. Just do what you see as fitting with your morals, ideals, and objectives!

I remember thinking a while back that this dude (you) is too grounded to even try to stick it out with this formula FOREVER. I really enjoyed this. I'm 42 and from what I have learned, more so in this last decade, is that Progressives/Liberals have found a way to weaponize the very empathy/compassion that too many Christians seemed to have forgotten about. When you think about it, "sides" can only become polarized to such a point to where they balance out, which is why we now have a standoff in ideologies, with people dug in so deep that it hinders their ability to listen and understand one another. While there are many reasons this occurs, stubbornness and the unwillingness to have an exchange of ideas seems to be the most common. It's however becoming far too common that people are being either disingenuous, intellectually dishonest, willfully ignorant or a combination thereof. What we need is to get back to a world/society in which we can have agreements of what actual problems are, while agreeing to disagree to what the best solution should be to resolve said problems, while understanding we have different worldviews based upon where we've came from. Leon couldn't have handled the boxer's "controversy" any better, by not staying lukewarm in his beliefs and acknowledging what he did not know. If more people were like this, I believe we'd have far less problems in the world.
O, yea, and "build that tribe", man. Couldn't have worded it any better. There are undoubtfully those that like the "har har" factor of the Brain Worms content, I would be willing to bet there's an equal amount that enjoy hearing your perspective on things. I am more so of the latter, but, deeper vs. wider seems like it would be self-perpetuating as you will have more concentration to focus on depth without things seeming like such a damn grind. I couldn't do what folks like you do, nor would I want to even if I could.
I'm on the newer side of things, having found your channel only a couple of years ago. This was really illuminating, I've heard more creators talk about how soulless content creation can become if you aren't actively working against it. Likewise, the "thing" that people find performs the best with the algorithm and their audience becomes a slog. Or having to consume so much negative content really starts to make a person feel jaded. As a parent to young children, it's really difficult to hang out with our normal couple friends. Competing naptime schedules, work, distance, life just makes it borderline impossible to see them. I'm pretty sure I'm filling the void with Lush Life videos because I can tune in at 3PM or 3AM. Oh, edited to add that I'm excited to hear your music!

Some of your videos have indicated that you and I have some different views, but I couldn't care less about that. Not everyone you surround yourself with, watch, or listen to should agree with you all the time. Everybody being in an echo chamber is REAL these days. Plus, I think you and your wife are funny.

We all have dreams - I have so many thoughts and ideas that might possibly allow me to pay the bills and take care of my mother in her last years without having the 9-5 or multiple jobs (or give up literally everything I have) to keep my own home to come home to and at the same time realize her desire of having her best friend be with her in another location 24-7. I will do it (sell everything) if it ends up being my only option. It’s such a difficult feeling knowing there is something but just out of reach. I get the conflict. I’m older than you and have always done the working for the man and dreading every day. Thank you for sharing. I wish for you and for all that we can find that realistic way to gain the lives we truly want and that truly make us happy for the time we have. Words and advice we needed. It's unfortunate that meaningful debates have become rare, as most individuals become emotionally invested in their opinions. I appreciate that you've recognized the focus on negativity in your content and taken a step back. I always enjoy your commentary videos because they are genuine and pretty hilarious; however, I'd also like to see you create more positive content. Even though I don't personally know you or Mrs. Lush, I enjoy watching your channels. I appreciate that each channel offers a different glimpse into your lives and personalities. It's very true that there are not a lot of positive, realistic couples online to see. Thank you for sharing that window into your lives. There will always be negative comments, but I hope that the vast majority of them are encouraging. As a 25 year old dude with an almost 9 year old I find your videos to be pretty inspiring in a weird way. I’ve always been super into music I’m a huge metal head and often feel like I’m too late to start anything especially when the struggles of life can put you down so much but the positivity and just hearing about overcoming hardships is something that will bring me back always. Thanks Leon. Love the candor. Yes, "normal" people heard about the Olympics boxing deal. I don't watch the news because too much of it (for me) can be negative/ upsetting. I actually find out what's going on through TH-cam. Retired Soldier in sobriety, so I steer away from certain things. Have to stay positive. I guess it's a good sign if you've "just now" taken a "right wing turn." So up until now, your stance wasn't as obvious. Probably best to stay middle of the road, or as you said, joke about everybody. I figured out that I leaned conservative because I appreciate patriotism. I know that you know, that you can't make everybody happy, so please try to not let it bother you too much. Keep doing you, and finding your way.
I think the most important thing is to just try stuff out just like you did when you were starting out. You were the first person that I actually subscribed to on youtube. I started watching you around 2017/18 for two reasons. The Peter Canine Dog training video - that was the one that got me - and THEN you are also close in age to me. Looking forward to the country era - interested in seeing what the sound will be.

My husband turned me on to your content around when covid started and I haven't stopped watching since. Between the Leon lush channel lush Life and now this podcast channel you're bringing out some pretty great content. It makes me sad that you feel that you can't speak your mind for fear of what other people have to say. Of course there is the take it or leave it type of mindset but overall I can imagine it can be very stifling. But I just wanted to say that you're doing a great job and keep it up!

Maybe it is bc of age and relatability.. regardless, all of your channels are a breath of fresh air. I love the long form content. For the exact same reasons that you discussed. On another note, people are going to some how take offense to literally everything you do or don’t do. It’s unfortunate that society has become this obsessed with feelings and identity. I HATE politics but I agree with you.. it’s kind of necessary to know what’s right in our faces on a daily basis. However I'm not sure how I'd react to having some of the abuse, hate and backlash you're bound to get. I am in the same class and I agree. I feel that Leon's sheltered conservative christian background will always come to the forefront when any kind of gender identity issue is discussed, just as it is with many others with the same background. I know there are many people with varying opinions regardless of their upbringing. I don't suspect many people with a very liberal upbringing would feel the need to "raise an eyebrow" over gender issues to this extent but for me, It's not a reason to unsubscribe. I have a choice like everyone else about which episodes I watch 😉
Respect for really considering your content/path and discussing it publicly! I personally have begun to actively realize how I watch a lot of "negative" content despite my goals being to focus on the positive unless otherwise necessary. I don't like how I watch drama online, videos about how people are bad, etc. I still do it, but am making an active effort to limit and will be sure to do so more. It's good for you to think about your focus on that, but if you are comfortable with it then it is of course what people are looking for and so is totally fine. Just do what you see as fitting with your morals, ideals, and objectives!

I remember thinking a while back that this dude (you) is too grounded to even try to stick it out with this formula FOREVER. Been watching you seen 2018 or so. I am from a minority community myself and am a subject to extremism online quite frequently in recent years, but watching you I have never felt that. Your honesty is something I really respect and you always have a logical take to everything. It's sad that people want to force you to believe in their beliefs irrespective of which side they're on. You are your own person and have the right to have your own opinions. Your fans watch you for you, not some fake guy who says what he says to please certain demographics.

I really enjoyed this. I'm 42 and from what I have learned, more so in this last decade, is that Progressives/Liberals have found a way to weaponize the very empathy/compassion that too many Christians seemed to have forgotten about.
When you think about it, "sides" can only become polarized to such a point to where they balance out, which is why we now have a standoff in ideologies, with people dug in so deep that it hinders their ability to listen and understand one another.
While there are many reasons this occurs, stubbornness and the unwillingness to have an exchange of ideas seems to be the most common. It's however becoming far too common that people are being either disingenuous, intellectually dishonest, willfully ignorant or a combination thereof.
What we need is to get back to a world/society in which we can have agreements of what actual problems are, while agreeing to disagree to what the best solution should be to resolve said problems, while understanding we have different worldviews based upon where we've came from.
Leon couldn't have handled the boxer's "controversy" any better, by not staying lukewarm in his beliefs and acknowledging what he did not know. If more people were like this, I believe we'd have far less problems in the world.
O, yea, and "build that tribe", man. Couldn't have worded it any better. There are undoubtfully those that like the "har har" factor of the Brain Worms content, I would be willing to bet there's an equal amount that enjoy hearing your perspective on things. I am more so of the latter, but, deeper vs. wider seems like it would be self-perpetuating as you will have more concentration to focus on depth without things seeming like such a damn grind. I couldn't do what folks like you do, nor would I want to even if I could.
I'm on the newer side of things, having found your channel only a couple of years ago. This was really illuminating, I've heard more creators talk about how soulless content creation can become if you aren't actively working against it. Likewise, the "thing" that people find performs the best with the algorithm and their audience becomes a slog. Or having to consume so much negative content really starts to make a person feel jaded.
As a parent to young children, it's really difficult to hang out with our normal couple friends. Competing naptime schedules, work, distance, life just makes it borderline impossible to see them. I'm pretty sure I'm filling the void with Lush Life videos because I can tune in at 3PM or 3AM.

In this day and age you have to be firm in what you believe in, because if you aren't the other side will swallow you whole. Good for you for stepping back and thinking things through. I've watched many of your videos but this was the first time I listened to your podcast. I really enjoyed it.
We all have dreams - I have so many thoughts and ideas that might possibly allow me to pay the bills and take care of my mother in her last years without having the 9-5 or multiple jobs (or give up literally everything I have) to keep my own home to come home to and at the same time realize her desire of having her best friend be with her in another location 24-7. I will do it (sell everything) if it ends up being my only option.
It’s such a difficult feeling knowing there is something but just out of reach. I get the conflict. I’m older than you and have always done the working for the man and dreading every day. Thanks Leon. Love the candor. Yes, "normal" people heard about the Olympics boxing deal. I don't watch the news because too much of it (for me) can be negative/ upsetting. I actually find out what's going on through TH-cam. Retired Soldier in sobriety, so I steer away from certain things. Have to stay positive. I guess it's a good sign if you've "just now" taken a "right wing turn." So up until now, your stance wasn't as obvious. Probably best to stay middle of the road, or as you said, joke about everybody. I figured out that I leaned conservative because I appreciate patriotism. I know that you know, that you can't make everybody happy, so please try to not let it bother you too much. Keep doing you, and finding your way.
I think the most important thing is to just try stuff out just like you did when you were starting out. You were the first person that I actually subscribed to on youtube. I started watching you around 2017/18 for two reasons. The Peter Canine Dog training video - that was the one that got me - and THEN you are also close in age to me. I’ve been subbed to you since 2019.. I’m not kidding when I say it DOES NOT feel like it’s been 5 years already. WTF?!! Think about how different the world was in 2019.. I actually really appreciate you reflecting on your growth. I miss the Nigel days man.. shit was hilarious. But I like the older, wiser, chill Leon as well. Your great, man. You're one of the few channels I still look forward to and get excited when I see a new video show up in my recommended. Been here for a minute - I think its cool to see how you as a person and your channel have grown in that time. My wife loves your videos also and we often watch lush life together. You always come off as authentic - in a world of so many idiots and clout chasers I think if you just keep doing you, you'll have our views. I also think its hilarious because you're like the internet guy and plugged in to the online zeitgeist and you always have to preface and explain the backstory to Mrs. Lush and that is so often the exact scenario when I'm showing my wife stuff lmao.
Hi leon, I've been watching you for a long time and I'm 45. I like that i can watch with my 17yr old son. We have lots of laughs together. Also gotta say this, I didn't always enjoy Mrs lush, but now i prefer watching your vids with her over your regular content lol! She really grew comfortable on screen after some time, and the banter between you too is awesome! You guys are really the only youtubers i watch anymore! And That Chapter ! Anyways thanks for making me laugh when I'm going through it lately!
I enjoy you because I feel that you're truly genuine. You're honest, real, goofy, raw, sincere, empathetic, and understanding. All the things that, in my opinion, make for an overall good person. I get exactly what you're saying, I hear ya, you're right, I'm a victim of this BS too, but I'm a Canadian 42F, no kids, not married but common-law, and I'm no longer working due to sick leave (10yr melanoma cancer patient, but doing well!), and I don't do a whole lot, other than clean and make art, but I greatly enjoy your perspective, insight and company, and Mrs. Lush, too! Leon. You need to hear this: all of us 40 and over NEED your content. It's relevant to us, your life and what you say IS relevant to our generation and era. We need the break from the hell life can bring, we need to laugh and ponder life at this age WITH you. You say the things we all are thinking but you have the platform(s) to say them on. YOU AND your wife give us 40+ year old a reason to come home, take some time to watch our favorite reaction videos or podcast BECAUSE you get us. YOU have our humor, YOU have our cynical and apathetic side. YOU are US.
I just wanted to say thank you for all of your content, over the last decade AND NOW. I rely on you to remind me I'm not freaking crazy every day I have to either experience real life or watch someone do something stupid online or in real life for online clout.

I watch everything you and Mrs Lush upload, and love your interactions with each other, and your team. I don't feel there's any subject that's off limits. People have a choice which episodes they watch. The fair use issue, and demonitising for using certain words is ridiculous, I found and watched, agreed and laughed along with you.
I understand about the comments, as a sub I think it's so good that we can connect with you, and we're not just shouting into the void. However I'm not sure how I'd react to having some of the abuse, hate and backlash you're bound to get. I'm a people pleaser, always have been, I find as I'm getting older, I can say no, or pushback more, and I really wish I'd stood up for myself more!

I feel like I'm watching a breakup lol. I've been here since about 2015, almost a decade old tomato. Gone from a 15 year old cracking up at toys flying around the screen to having bourbon with you at 24. I feel like you just have to kick the bucket around Leon. Give us what you like... you may have to establish and tap into a new market but there are at least a handful of us that will go with you, wherever you go. You've always been authentic and I think as long as you keep to that you will continue to flourish.
