Married young at 21! We are now 3 years in. Thank you guys for being so real. It is refreshing hearing your true stories. Sometimes marriage can feel so isolating and hearing your stories gives me hope!
Thank you both for being so open, honest and vulnerable about the tough times in your marriages. It's so refreshing to hear Christians admit that everything is not sunshine and roses. We still struggle even though we love Jesus and know the Word. This challenged me and encouraged me. Thank you!
Married for 3 years. Military wife with a baby and moved across the world recently. We would not have survived without Jesus and Christian counseling. Would love to help the church when my baby is older with counseling for free!
Married for 8 years, each gets better, we learn so much from one another and pray together (answered prayer) I know God has a beautiful plan for our lives🙏🏼💝 Thank you for all your amazing wisdom. Always growing and willing to listen and try new things. Thank you ladies 💕
Married for 3 years and that is very true what Jenny said we are currently living in the hardest phase with small children but I have faith in God we will get through it. 🙌🏼
I am so blessed! Married for 19 years, have been together since 2002, we dated long distance for 1 year and God has blessed us with 4 amazing boys! Be blessed Y'all, Yana!
I am happily married 15 years with a blended family. My kids were 6 and 8, girl and boy and his, two girls, were 12 and 14. We trusted God and it is by His grace that we have built a successful blended family! He has been such an amazing father figure to my kids!❤
Married for almost 13 amazing years!!! Love your podcast Cameron! Thank you for talking about hard issues and are practically needed!!! Love you and Jennie Allen. This has been reshaping my thinking and my husband has been listening and gleaning things from it!!! I pray God continues to bless your ministries!
Good morning!! My husband and I have been married for 33 years!! We met in Vancouver Canada. He was in the US Navy stationed in San Diego and from Michigan. Ship was in Port. I'm from Australia and was working in Vancouver as a nanny. We met Aug 1989 married March 1991!! We have been blessed with 3 boys!! Thank you!! God is good!!
Was married for 45 years until my husband passed 2 years ago. I got married at almost 19. Never regretted it for one minute and had a wonderful marriage.
I am a Pastor’s wife, married for almost 44 years, married at age 21. Great helpful tips and some I wish I knew 40 years ago. I still struggle with expressing emotions…my husband wears his on his sleeves.
We’ve been married for two years and are expecting boy/girl twins in the next few weeks. I’m loving this season of life & I love the insight I get from listening to your podcast, so thank you! ❤
Yes- 18 years first marriage to my late husband. 12 years in second marriage. I am a counselor and forwarded this helpful podcast to my clients. I see lots of women whose husbands won’t go to counseling and that’s ok! God can heal a marriage even if the husband won’t go to counseling, as Candace knows. Thank you ladies!
Married at 22, we met at church when we were 12 and 13, so we grew up as friends but did not date until we were both 19 and 20. And it has been 2 years now, praying for many more years to come❤ Thank you, Candace for sharing your stories and being so open, appreciate all you do ma’am!!
Married 21 years..high school sweethearts, 5 kids. My husband has had Lyme disease the last 4 years and it has taken just about everything from our family. My church family has been huge in encouragement. We are day by day working on getting our marriage back to what it was, and better. Love this episode and there have been so many that have such great insight as well as focus on the family and their marriage episodes. Thank you both!
Hi! I just found your podcast on TH-cam a couple of weeks ago! I've been enjoying catching up while I sew. I'm 54. Been married for 35 years to the love of my life! We've known each other since ages 7 & 8. Went to church together as teens. Graduated HS together. Worked together in the HS library. And while he was in FFA and helped at the cattle auction where my dad was the President of the cattlemen association, we interacted as I also had the privilege of working with him. But we didn't date until the fall after we graduated in 1988. Then we married three months after our first date! ❤ We raised our three daughters while we were "growing" up ourselves. Did a lot wrong but by the grace of God, some amazing sanctification was happening during those years! Thankful for all the amazing women of faith who poured into me along the way! Enjoyed the IF Gathering this year! Thank you for having Jenny Allen as your guest! 🎉🎉
Married later in life to a boy I grew up next door to. My mom was my husband's kindergarten and 3rd grade teacher. We will celebrate 8 years in October. Praising God through all 8 years that has had its ups and downs!
My husband and I have been married for 18 years, and we’ll celebrate 19 years this summer. We met in Bible college, dated for four years, and were married after graduation. We are blessed with a strong relationship and are best friends. We have definitely grown together.
I have been married for 7 years.8 this coming September I have been blessed beyond measure. We always have ups and downs but doing well by God's amazing grace. Saying please and thank you and not going to bed angry with each other. Saying I love you everyday helps us stay on the right path .
Met my husband one week after I turned 20. I'm 58 now. There's something to be said for growing together through all the ups and downs of life. Marry the right person and always be a team. Turn toward each other never away. Enjoy the journey together...life is short.
I've been married for 8 years and enjoyed this podcast so much! Yes to community 🙌 👏 God fearing friends and church family have helped us on our rainy days to lean on Jesus's love and reconciliation. We both have had the spotlight pointed on the areas of our lives that require growth and thank goodness we've been willing to give it a chance 😀 we have a beautiful daughter that makes our family so sweet. Gives us the extra push to keep loving eachother better!
We have been married almost 53 years! I was 19 and he was 20 and we only knew each other 3 months when we got married. I tell everyone that the 2 hardest jobs you will ever have is being married and raising children! We have had our share of ups and downs and it hasn't always been a fairy tale. But we love each other and knew our marriage was fighting for!❤
First off I'm a big fan of yours, Candace and you are so inspirational and I'm loving your podcast! I'm also a fan of Jennie's -- between y'all both I'm gaining so much wisdom. I have been married almost 10 years and my husband & I never cease to learn and grow closer together. We have already gone through some hard years due to my struggles with really bad postpartum depression and anxiety after I had our first child. Looking back that time in our marriage was so hard and I was simply on autopilot trying to navigate and survive motherhood and that's all I could do. That fact my husband never left me is all because of God. We have fought together in prayer and continue to as we are growing our family and God has amazed us so much with giving us the pastors, marriage counselors, friends, etc. to help us choose each other, choose our family and legacy daily. Keep up the great work of encouraging others through your podcast. ❤️
Married for 5 years!!! I’m 31 years old, my husband is 40. We have a 16 month old daughter (and 6.5 year old golden retriever) and I love this podcast. ❤️🇺🇸🥰 And we live in the suburbs of Chicago, IL.
I absolutely loved and needed this episode; and to answer Candice’s question I’m unmarried, without kids, and have been with my partner for 8 years. We’re both 25 and 26, though we’re not married I’ve gotten so much out of your advice so thank you ❤
Married for 14 years to my second husband. I was very young in my first marriage and it was very unhealthy. I learned so much and am so grateful to have a healthy marriage and a husband who loves the Lord.
Will be married 29 yrs in Nov. Been through so many things, including husband's addiction to alcohol, job loses, etc. God told me years ago divorce is not an option and no matter what it is til death us part for me. It's tough but it can be done!
Met my husband at 17 we have been together 19 years. We are in our second stage of little ones. We have four children 17,13 and twin 2 year olds. It’s been an adventure 😊
Been married for the second time for 25 yrs to the most wonderful man! He has helped me through losing two adult children, losing half a foot and Crohn's disease just to start. He has never left my side. God has truly blessed me with him..
I have been married for 22 years. I've been with him for 26. I just started the episode, and I hope it brings me peace, understanding of emotions, and other useful information because I can not say I am 'happily married'. In fact, I've been thinking of throwing in the towel.😢
I’m so sorry. We are the same. Married for 22, together for 26! A year ago I was ready to throw in the towel and made him do counseling and it was the best thing we ever did. We are currently in such a GOOD PLACE. A year ago I never could have thought we would be where we are now. Counseling, LOTS of prayer, and lots of humility from both sides have done it.
Been with my husband for 15 years and cannot fathom either of us ever saying or meaning “I hate you” - that breaks my heart that your relationship has been so hard.
hey girl- love the chat! Thank you for being such an inspiration🥰I have been married 14 years. He is such a loving wonderful husband and I thank God for him 😊
Married at 19, 23 years in, had 3 children, and now 1 granddaughter. I don’t understand how or why, but our marriage, despite being so young, was so much more peaceful and joyous the first 20 years. The last 3 years have been extremely difficult. Lots of financial stressors and family illness, communication issues, feeling disrespected and unloved on both sides. We always worked as a team but during the last 3 years I have felt very lonely. It’s been very tough finding Christian based marriage counseling. The fees are through the roof! We’ve talked with a few Christian counselors at local churches, but unfortunately I feel like the lack of qualification and experience in marriage therapy, has been to our disadvantage despite them really trying to help us. We get help where we can due to financial restrictions.
Happy to be married to my best friend for almost 23 years. BTW, book you referenced that says marriage is to make you holy not happy is Sacred Marriage by Gary Thomas. Wonderful, life-changing book!
Married for 8 years but divorced for 40 years. My husband abandoned me, our 1 1/2 year old son and I was 5 months pregnant with our 2nd son. I am still believing God will restore what the enemy has stolen.
❤ I've never felt like an episode was more unreasonable than this one. I'm single, never married and don't have kids...and I'm in a wheelchair. Definitely can't relate to any of this.xoxo
I’m not married yet I’m single but I hope to find a man someday That one loves Jesus two loves fried cheese curds and three loves the Packers I’m from Wisconsin This podcast is very helpful for married people but also for single people thank you Candace I hope my husband will love me even though I’m an emotional mess
I have been married 24 years! It’s a God-thing … but it still isn’t easy! Well - at times it is easy … ❤️ … at times HARD. But we belong to each other.🥰
July 14th I'll be married 23 years. I married my husband and his 2 kids when I was 21. We now have 5 kids and 2 grandbabies. I love each of them with all my heart. I do encourage young couples to seek counseling. If you can't afford it. Find a couple in the church who love God with every fiber of their being and has done a lot of life together. Ask them if they would be willing to have conversations with you in touch times.
Got married at age 28, been happily married for 25 years this December. We have 2 kids, ages 18 & 21. Even though we were married later in life…we still grew up together! 😂 God is the foundation of our marriage and it’s to His glory we are still married. 💜 It hasn’t been easy, nor is our marriage perfect…but it is Godly. 😉
Married at 19....Married now for over 39 years. Beautiful 36 year old daughter who loves the Lord. Our son is 30, he is severely autistic and assessed to be at roughly a three year old cognitive level. Through the trials, smiles, tears and celebrations, God has been faithful. Would I marry my sweetheart again if I knew all that I know now? Absolutely! God was, God is, and God will always be faithful. Love one another and bring everything together to God on prayer.
Married 20 years, together for 25 years and God has blessed us with 5 beautiful children together ❤ We now have 3 teenagers and two "tweens", emotions are a serious business around here 😂
Married 21 1\2 years, knew each other in middle and high school, never dated. Met again in 1998, which I believe was a God thing. We did everything backwards and upside down. He had 2 kids from his first marriage, we lived together, had 2 kids of ours, then got married. Our marriage has been a roller coaster, we have both had breaking points and for all intense and purposes have walked away but something in both of us kept telling us no you can't walk away, it is truly because of God that we are still together and learning to work through things. The sad thing is we really see the after affects in our kids lives and are trying to help them through so that hopefully they won't go as long as we did before getting help. We knew of God but didn't know God and unfortunately our kids know Him even less than we did. They are all out of the house now but thankfully we do still have a relationship with each of them and even though they are half siblings and there's about a 10\11 year difference between the first two and the second two they are pretty close to each other.
Married at 19, married for 19 years in October. It hasn’t been easy but it’s been beautiful and I’m so grateful God brought me my husband.

Married for 21 years❤
Married 21 1\2 years, knew each other in middle and high school, never dated.
