    Flowmasters were made for mustangs. The coolest thing is hearing a foxbody in the distance with flowmasters and a off-road H-pipe. You can hear them coming from a mile away. 🐺

    Motorsport C springs, Cobra R 13 inch disk conversion, subframe connectors, Panhard bar, whipple supercharger, 3.27 gears, anti-squat mod on rear control arms. And for the love of all that's holy, read the book, Mustang Performance Handbook 2!!!

    I’m 35 and my little brother is 33. My first mustang at 15 was a 91 lx 2.3 5 spd. Beat that car to no end but it never gave. Tons a of fun. My second was a 92 lx 5.0 vert. Loved that car. Sold it to my little brother. Bought a 99 cobra. He drove it through high school as well but like me sold it as well. It eventually ended around a tree. Loved that cobra but always missed the fox more. He just bought one a year ago. I’ve always wanted another fox but ever since he got his it’s been overdrive. Can’t wait to have one again. Thanks for the vids.

    Awesome video my friend. I’ve done the exhaust/H pipe and lights thus far. About to pull the trigger on some 3.73’s and some subframe connectors while possibly throwing in a short shifter. I just want to get my 89 GT 5 spd to how I see it in my head. Will eventually do a H/C/I combo. Thanks for the inspiration my Canadian brother lol

  • @CarCrazyRDM

    While not really reversible, like the 5 lug conversion, I feel like subframe connectors are a mod that no future owner would complain about, unless they're going for a completely stock investment car. They're relatively inexpensive and combined with the lowering springs you already mentioned (and preferably some new shocks too) it'll make the car feel so much better. Next up, a nice H/C/I package! :) Certainly more complicated and expensive but worth every penny. Great video and beautiful Notch by the way!

    I had bought a brand new LX hatch 5.0/5-speed/3.08 in 92. Paid $15k. Had to let it go when kids came along. If I bought another stocker, first mod I would perform based on how I modded my 92 would be to remove the intake silencer and advance the timing. Neither costs anything unless you don’t have tools or a timing light. Next thing would be to install a Hurst shifter and weld-in subframe connectors. The subframe connectors do more to make the stock suspension geometry work than springs, bigger tires, shocks, etc. Next, either the Flowmaster American Thunder or at least replace the stock mufflers with Flowmaster units that fit the stock pipes. The stock exhaust tips sort of grew on me over time and the Flowmaster stuff rusted. While I noted some seat of the pants gains, don’t know if there would have been any trade-off to just using Flowmasters on the stock tubing. I never messed with the gears as more than anything I did not care for the 3.35 low in the 92 T-5. Seemed to lug more and I felt a set of 3.55s or 3.73s would have been more irritating for daily commuting. I installed a set of JBA 1.5 inch shorties and a 160 degree thermostat. The headers looked better but with stock heads, cam, intake,and throttle body, I doubt made any real difference. While it would have cost more, a four-core radiator would have been a better investment to deal with high revolution heat and wouldn’t have killed gas mileage. I installed Koni adjustables. Probably overkill. But the Hurst was insurance against bad shifts and the subframe connectors just flat gave a better handling car to start with. Amazing how much less tire squeal was heard during hard cornering. Don’t know if I’ll ever get another Fox, but I certainly have better things to do with $38k.

    I've never converted any of my Mustangs to 5 lug. I like the stock wheels just fine. But I can't argue with KASL on this one as everything he says is true. The advantages of 5 lugs are real. I do recommend rear disc brakes though, whether you go five lug or stick with four. The drums suck. The biggest issue is wear on the backing plates causing the shoes to stick. Last I knew replacements backing plates were not available. Welding the worn areas and grinding them smooth is a mickey-mouse solution. Discs will not have this issue and are easier to service. If you are going to road race or autocross the car better brakes are a must have. Better brakes can be a help at the drag strip too, especially with a car capable of high 12s or better.

      @@KASLCustoms I'm currently converting it to carburetor. I'm still missing some parts (fuel regulator, fuel filter, fuel pump/not sure if I can use it, air filter) and I don't have certain tools (torque wrench to tight the intake studs at 23lbs)
      Also, Im far from being a mechanic, I haven't put a mark where was the distributor so I need to redo the timing (correct me if I'm wrong)

      So I'm learning a lot while working on this car. I used to work on obd2, turbo'ed, 4 cylinders cars. So it's unknown territory v8, pushrod, carburator engine, without obd2 to diagnose problems.
      I think right now either the fuel pump or the filter as to be changed, the engine wouldn't start

    Yep. Back in 92 i gave the owner of a really small car dealer that specialized in mustangs only, that was across the street from a huge car auction in rosemead ca $500 up front to find me a used black on black fully loaded 5.0 GT in excellent shape. I told him , you find me that car low miles on it, and ill buy it. and sure enuf, he found a few different cars that he wanted me to come check out which i did. Each time i went to come see and test drive what he had, i had to drive almost 3 hours down to his location and back after work. Only to show up there, and say to him, nope! that aint the one! Keep lookn! after about 4 weeks he finally had the one i was lookn for. It was 1990 completely stock black on black fully loaded 5.0 GT stock chrome rims that must have been owned by a woman that just drove it to work and back for its 50 thousand original miles because it was so clean no accidents etc. The car was beautiful inside and out and underneath. So i told the guy, ok, one last thing. You gotta drive this car to my mechanics shop for a full diagnostic. If he says this car is good to go!? ill buy it. So he had one of his sales men drive it to my mechanic. The mechanic said the car was all that. So i bought it for 10k. that car was the shit! especially back in 92. All my friends were so impressed with the car and it even got me laid. people i didnt even know would come up to me when i would get gas or where ever and ask me if i would sell it or just say to me how they thought the car was so cool. over the years i owned it i did all 5 of the mods youre talkn about and little bit more with a bad ass fiberglass Dugan hood and the carerra style whale tail not the saleen. This rear spoiler had better transition coming off the hatch back and laid out a tiny bit longer with out a step in it. it was grate lookn. Plus March underdrive pullies, k&n, 4 10" fosgate subs and 2 amps, shorty headers, punched out all 4 cats because back then i knew a guy that worked at a smog shop that would pass the car for a 12 pack of beer. You know, i went all in on this car and it was awesome. I smoked a LOT of fools everywhere. it was the best car i ever owned. Until, one day i was stuck in heavy traffic on the 101 freeway at the 405 interchange not even moving. And a woman hit me from behind so hard she pushed me into the guy infront of me crushing the car in the front and the back. Totalling the car. I was perfectly find. Not a scratch. Nothin at all. But the car. Junk. the dream was over.

    I like your channel KASL. I may not agree with you on everything but those are just differences of opinion based on different experiences. As stated below I started playing with Fox bodies cars in 1984 and almost all of my experience comes from the early days of the "movement". By the time the aftermarket got with the program I was busy running a small business and just trying to hang on to my Mustang so I could enjoy it again when my life got more settled. Unfortunately the car itself didn't survive but it's guts live on in a converted '93 notchback. The heart of the machine is a stock cammed short block with AFR165 heads, '93 Cobra intake and 1 5/8 long tube headers. I know I could get a lot more power with a hotter cam, but I like the way my combo puts out power. It behaves very much like a stock 5.0 with excellent off-idle response and low end torque but traps nearly 10 mph higher than stock at the drags. Being that the car is a "back road cruiser" I don't really care about ET so much anymore, but I love a top-end rush!

    You missed, what to me is, the most important, (after disc brakes) chassis stiffeners for the hatch. Over time the mild steel of the unibody fatigues so what was mildly flexible when new becomes very flexible. If I had changed the rear brakes on my 88 LX 5.0, I might still have it. Finally, for those not adding power adders, balance and blueprint the 302. While not a backyard thing, when mine got that treatment, the power increase was quite surprising.

    Appreciate your channel. If you're not concerned with resale value, the first mod is always subframe connectors. The second mod is correcting the oversteer condition in the rear. The third mod is an improved brake system. Now that you have a solid car that stops and goes around corners, the rest is up to you...and your bank account.

The only things I've done that are "irreversible" are subframe connectors and strut tower brace.

I've seen a few dark green GTs over the years with titanium ground effects. Not many. I've done some irreversible changes too....like a strut tower brace. I have owned the car for 29 years. A lot of the mods I did were when these cars were plentiful and there was no thought of conductibility. Honestly, I haven't done much except change the oil and put gas in it for the last 16 years or so. Just enjoying the car. Other mods that are reverable are KYB struts and shocks and lowering springs. Have had my 83 GLX 5.0 as second owner from 1986 -37years. Regardless if you are worried about maintaining originally or not, ALL these cars should have sub frame connectors. [Especially a vert] Full length is better. This is a safety issue beyond any performance considerations. These vehicles were not made with longevity in mind and they flex and twist and stress crack on the floor and back seat area. I suppose a 4 cylinder rarely driven would survive but any driver vehicle is a risk.

In the interior there is a flashlight holder, and various switches that no longer have a use, but are unique. There is a T handle under the steering wheel that I found odd. 1 day I fired it up and pulled on the handle. Everyone in the neighborhood found out it was connected to the throttle. Where did you find a 4 wheel disc kit? I find front 5 lug kits and rear kits seperate but can't find 1 with all 4 wheels going to 5 lug and disc

      I bought another fox that already had the swap done and then just moved it over to mine. That said @latemodelrestoration sells the full swap kits 👍

      Thx sir!! I did do a TH-cam video on the full motor build however it’s definitely not my best video in the world... I might look at redoing it to be honest. But the “bigger go fast” modifications are: afr 165 heads, comp cams xe266hr, ported cobra intake, and 3.73 gears

    • @KASLCustoms
      @KASLCustoms  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yessir, I am still running stock pistons, crank and rods. I just honed my block (on my driveway with a ball hone - my neighbours thought I had lost it 🤣👍. I wished I’d taken a video...), and then put it all back together with new bearings and rings. I used 1.6 roller rockers with this combo and had plenty of clearance with the stock fists 👊

    3.73 around town, but what is like at 85 mph on the Interstate after about 45 minutes.

    • @KASLCustoms
      @KASLCustoms  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't have any interstates around me where I live and any highway is 70mph max. That said, I love the 3.73's. My car revs at 2200 rpm at 60-65 mph and have lots of "get up and go" if I want to pass

    • @Celticman197
      @Celticman197 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KASLCustoms Yeah, County Roads 60-65 it's good. Long as you don't have to travel for 20 or 30 miles on high speed roads on a regular basis where everybody is going 85-90 mph.

    Do you think it’s the cars that were never painted that are all original so you can see exactly how they came when they were sold ? Or someone’s idea of how they were? They’re all skyrocketing. Try to find a clean 4 cylinder for less then 5k. I’ve been looking for a while now for a car that was never touched body wise and all I come up with is 5-6k. Especially a notch. You can’t put a dollar value on anything as a whole. Look at the car and then determine what you are willing to pay.
