I heard the same about Frank Frazetta, who was often touted as using a Crayola watercolor paint set to paint lots of his paintings. You don't need the fanciest or most expensive tools to create something.
Makes me miss Overhaulin’ that much more! I’ve met Chip a couple times, and next to Carrol himself that was my #1 automotive inspiration to meet. Easily one of the most recognized automotive icons of our time and still such a humble, personable guy! Thanks for the video!!
BREW2L, you’ve got the best Fox content on the net in my opinion. Congratulations on the new barn and lift. Can’t wait to see what that Gen 1 is going to look like. Much respect from the Motor City.

Chip brought aspects of the Shelby Charger over. Stripes, Shelby down the side, ground effects, and deck spoiler. Good homage to a Shelby foxbody of the 80's.
Good afternoon Chip, I can't believe how incredibly easy you make it look. That picture just appeared and look fantastic. You take care and stay healthy.
Thanks Hagerty and Chip, I am glad to see these videos. Thanks for letting us watch car videos. I day dreamed about the Fox Body Mustang when I was in High school and college. The two valve V8 engine sounds great with the right exhaust. My boss at the time had a roll cage installed in his notch back Mustang. I used to borrow my dad's 1992 T-Bird with the 5.0. Awesome car.
As in pens go for being cheap they are hella reliable. But it does take skill to accurately draw with a pen skill that I could probably get back into myself given the time but I prefer to draw with a charcoal pencil most of the time
Just picked up a 1 owner 90 GT a few weeks ago. Immaculate interior and body, still has the factory hurricanes on it too that have never been curb kissed. No o/d in the aod and a bad p.s. leak. All being fixed as i type !
The SAAC(Shelby American Automobile Club) built a Fox chassis Mustang in 1991/1992 with Ford and Carroll Shelby's blessing(they sanctioned the build). They bring in big bucks due to their limited build(just over 60).
In Australia, Ford lost its V8 option during the Fox body era. The 1982-84 Ford XE was the last to carry the 5.8 351 Cleveland in it. Come the 85 XF up until 1991 was the V8 gone from the options package on Ford Falcons, and not until the Falcon EB came along did the 92 model come with the 5.0 Windsor V8, as used in the Mustang.
I like how he says you can find a coupe for a cheap price 😂 I have both a notch and a hatch the hatch is fully restored and the notch doesn’t even turn on yet and I’m getting payed more for the notch as is
We've been waiting for this for a long time, Thanks Chip for all the insight and vision. I bought a 1988 GT new and still own and drive her today 121,000 miles on the odometer one new transmission (5 speed ) and one engine rebuild ( original block ). Don't be surprised if you see a Scarlet red GT parked out front begging to be first one with a 5.0 FOOSE signature on the door.
I had a 81 notchback back in 1995. My brother and I spent the whole summer of 95 fixing it since it had a blown motor in it. We put a 302 in it from a donor LTD, and we visited every junkyard for parts all summer. First week of school and we finally got the last part for it. When we got home from school the next day to start it for the first time, it was gone. My dad sold it to his friend for $500 bucks and he kept the money...Never even got to hear the damn thing run...yup, awesome childhood memories.
I had a 77 Monarch and it was a fox platform and after seeing Foose on the History Channel I cut the springs set it on the ground and got 56 pickup hub caps and now I can afford to do it right and I've been customizing and personalizing my vehicle's ever since
Chip, I have been a fan of your work for over 25 years and love your modern renditions of classic cars, and trucks. The C/28 you built was an awesome rendition of what Chevy should’ve built. I am a fan of the 87-91 Ford square body trucks and was curious if you could do a rendition of what one would look like if Ford had built a Lightning version.
I had a baby blue Mustang 5.0L 5 speed hatch in high school I bought for $2000 that needed work. Turned out it just needed a new fuel pump relay. I had 18 inch chrome cobra wheels. Loved that car. Back then you could get them cheap and find parts in junkyards for next to nothing. They were quick, powerful, cheap, they sounded great and the back end loved to get loose. Dangerous in the rain but a joy to drive. No traction control, stability control or abs. You had to know how to drive to really push them without ending up wrapped around a tree or telephone pole, which was the demise of many fox-body’s. I’ve owned 3 over the years now it’s rare to see one on the road. I’ll never forget what it’s like to drive them.
When I was a kid and saw the fox mustang growing up in the mid 80's to early 90's I fell in love! I found one and have had it for going on 12 years. The car is awesome I just wish I'd gotten one sooner.
I dunno if Chip is up to speed on notchbacks or if prices are different where he lives, but in Texas (and what I've seen on Autotrader) notchbacks with a 5.0 in good condition are not $7.5k. More like $15k. That aside, his take on a Shelby notchback is wicked!
I have a 92 LX 5.0 red on red .i always wondered what chip would be able to do to improve my car .absolutely awesome chip Foose you are a master🙏🙏 I always love watching you draw the car before you build it

These cars can’t really be picked up for cheap any longer. We’re passing that point as they become more desirable and less surviving. I would love add a notchback to my collection. I’ve had lots of cars but refuse to let go of my foxbody.
Purchased my 93 Fox-Body LX 5.0 new in 93' and still have it! All original with only about 23,000 miles. Fun to drive in 93 and still fun to drive in 2021!
On graduation night in 1993, we went out in my buddies dad's, McLaren Mustang. I think it was a 1988. A lot of people forget about the McLaren. But that was a pretty sweet car. I still use a Foxbody Thunderbird as a daily driver. 5.0 with an aod transmission. Been driving it for 15 years now. And I love that car!
Absolutely love this, I someday wish to own an 89 notchback with an 03-04 cobra drive train, I've imagined it since I was 16 and here I am almost 32 and have yet to accomplish that dream.
That foxbody shelby hybrid was gorgeous. Chip was one of the biggest reasons I got into drawing cars when i was a kid. Alot of my style comes right from him. Watching him on overhauling in the early 00's always amazed me
The Saleen Fox Mustang is probably the best look cars of that era. “Dated” or not, if and when I rarely see a Saleen on the road, they still turn my head.
Wow man, you outdid yourself Chip. I never really liked Foxbodies honestly, but this sketch really makes me smile, I'd bet if it was made back then, it'd be an icon for years to come. Thanks for making my day dude.
I always wanted my 01 explorer sport to get Overhauled! I loved that it was 2 doors but it was still big enough for me being 6'5. Pretty Much a y2k Bronco only classier! I had black. It had horrible shocks/springs and I had 3 ball joints replaced

Nice job Chip. Showing the kids how to rock it old school Marker on velum. Paper sketches are still best for conceptualization. Photoshop has too many other little things to think about. Ford Design in Da House!
Funny ... I knew Carroll from our Odessa, TX days when he was hocking his bagged Chile Mix Recipe (which was friggin awesome). Truth ... Carroll didn't design anything. Carroll's strength was identifying people talent at different levels and bringing it together. He was also a brilliant leader. He reminded me of Lombardi. He had a charisma that commanded respect and he also gave it. Nobody on the team seemed to have infighting. His best talent was working with the factory heads (Ford) and pursuing them like a Jack Russell Terrier. Lee Iaccoca didn't "invest" in Carroll, he just surrendered to get rid of him. Carroll would stand on a stump and argue that a tree never grew there. He could also sell you your own underwear. Unlikely we will ever see that spirit again.
I just can't draw crap but I love your work and I have been a fan AND because of you and Shelby, I went to tech school and became an auto technician. I have a Ranger that is screaming for a 5.0 or 4.6 swap. Thanks for your art. Love you man

Thanks Chip for doing that foxbody, I have one and i said if i ever got the money i would bring my 86 fast back fox to you to have you do it, the shelby concept is a great idea
That drawing has an uncanny resemblance to my '90 Fox Notchback, color and all. It is amazing how similar this looks to it, lowered, front air dam, ground effects all around . The wing on the rear deck is larger than the one Chip drew, providing much needed downforce over the rear of a vehicle with a notorious front-weight bias that is currently set up as a bracket car.
That looks so rad ! After 25 yrs mine is ready for body n paint. But it would be a small fortune for me to get my car like that ! It would take me two years just for wheels like that. Great rendering for sure !
Guys, this is a little touch up any of us regular guys could do for fun not a complete rehash of a missing Shelby. Chip I like how you think, low and wide, and move through air as if you were never there. I saw you in a 1965 chevy Corvair in a Mexican video. What was that about? I have one and I have some ideas I'm wanting to try. I can't draw a mark to save my life. Luv your work.
Dad had a friend nicknamed fast Eddie somewhere around the 1990's. He had a Foxbody pushing 700+ horse. IN THE 1980'S. Sounded like a monster truck when he started it up.
You're the one who got me started sketching cars, Chip. Love your style!

Glad im not the only one who thought it look a lot like a Bird. My first car was an 84 T-bird. I loved and miss that car so much
I was seeing a little next gen T-Bird in there too towards the back.
@@jeninjeans mine was an '83 Cougar.
Not much of a Ford fan, but you have the talent for making anything look awesome.
Dude draws what ever comes to mind.. amazing as his craftsmanship
Chip foose is profection at everything he sets his mind too I love his vehicles and art work
Guys, this is a little touch up any of us regular guys could do for fun not a complete rehash of a missing Shelby. Chip I like how you think, low and wide, and move through air as if you were never there. I saw you in a 1965 chevy Corvair in a Mexican video. What was that about? I have one and I have some ideas I'm wanting to try. I can't draw a mark to save my life. Luv your work.
I have a 91 5.0 notch back and would like my car to look like that for sure.
Dad had a friend nicknamed fast Eddie somewhere around the 1990's. He had a Foxbody pushing 700+ horse. IN THE 1980'S. Sounded like a monster truck when he started it up.
I like it need one of those I have a 93 I bought when I was 19 I wish Foose could redo it bad ass he's the man
Thanks for the great drawing.
This dude is drawing that car with a BIC pen… chip you are amazing
luv your mechanical and artistic skills combined
Love these episodes..would love to have a Foose concept done of my BMW E36 Touring signed to hang in my home..
Yes
Where did you go Chip ? King of the craft!
Wow I would love to have that drawing. Awesome...
Pens + Markers + Foose = Masterpiece
idk what I was expecting but this just looks like a regular fox body. Foose is the man regardless
