The scary thing is the US has guys that are bigger heavier and faster than baker but are not interested in rugby. Hope the game becomes more popular in the US.
With things changing in the NFL and CFB, I wouldn't be surprised if more US athletes earlier in their careers start the switch. I know I'm telling many young footballers to look at rugby as another competitive option, regardless of professional status.

The NFL’s loss and our American Rugby 7’s team gain. Sorry about his lost NFL dream, but he is a superstar for us American Rugby fans. I saw him play in Vegas and was amazed by his speed.
Great, great player, Baker. The only guy I've seen him tackled him from behind is Marcos Moneta, argentine Pumas player. New England Patriots had a Nat Ebner great rugby seven player. Great AF player too. They let join the USA 7's team for the olimpic games. Sometimes NFL about these issues are very very closed minded. Baker should've been a NFL player. There are and was lot of NFL players with a long or short rugby past. And gotta say they gave them a very short window of opportunities to those australian rugby players who tried to make the big switch to AF.
Took my son to first 7's tournament this year... Perry was his favourite. That's tough for a kiwi dad but deserved for a guy of this character, impact to the game and great to watch no matter what jersey you support.

Watching Baker fly down the field is such a sight! My kids had to tell me to chill out the shouting while watching the USA- HSBC LA Sevens matches.
I was there also saw him score a try after a amazing chip vs all blacks such a fun player to watch

Imagine you are a really fast guy (obviously if you are playing 7s),but then Perry runs around you on the outer like you are a tortoise. This guy is a sensation. I'm Kenyan, and our 7s is the best in the world 😜 but I'm a big fan of Perry Baker
I'm a Fiji 7's fan but I was rooting for Kenya 7's when they played in L.A. last month. I was there for this past tournament and the Kenyan fans turned up and showed out 👍🏼

Beautiful story!!! So proud of him. I love his intelligence, it was enough to know to listen to fate speaking to him through people with visions for him. Connecting the dots in his life and following the voices of those who saw him in his greatness. There are people out there that will see and help along the way. People that didn't look like him played the greater roll to pushing his success into fruition. Great story!!!!

Ah what a player. I am South African and I have watched this guy playing in the 7s and whenever he gets the ball I start to get nervous. There are a few like him, Seabelo Senatla for South Africa, Dan Norton for England who could match him. Tho' of course SS no longer plays 7s rugby.
Baker could easily burn Norton any time brother, maybe Senatla could be more of a challenge

Carlin opened the door for Perry and introduced a lot of Americans to Rugby. Carlin IMO was the 1st American 7s Rugby player that people knew of outside of Rugby because of his track career and Olympic tryouts. Once he tried Rugby 7’s, the marketing around him exploded . Carlin was fast on the straight line sprint, but couldn’t cut like Perry. I believe Perry is a better all around player.
@@onebridge7231 oh yeah for sure Brother like you said isles couldn’t make the cuts but perry could and that’s one thing I criticised about isles. Plus perry has been way more consistent, and even if you are an average player in sevens you will be mentioned due to the fact everyone can see that at least you are consistent. He will be of the all time great when it’s all said and done.
As a NZ'der, I've been a huge fan of Perry for years. I'd love to see him feature in the 15's aside game at fullback. Best Wishes Perry

I wish the Eagles would transition guys like Baker and Carlin Isles into 15s after playing 7s, I know 7s has become its own thing and there are the Olympic opportunities but feel like some of the USAs best talent never plays 15s at a RWC and would love to see it

7's is a trivial back garden game. They'd have nothing to offer the top level of 15's.

There’s a HUGE difference.
Rugby is a tough game to play if people are playing against you and defense is tackling you. You have not padded equipment to protect you.

@@jtaco4101 Yeah there’s really no reason. Even in the small football leagues(USFL, CFL, etc..) they make as much if not more than the highest paid rugby leagues in the world. Why would some USFL player decide to give up football and learn a whole new sport just to make the same amount of money lol. That would be completely illogical.
And that’s if we’re talking purely financial incentive. Most football players at the college and professional level love the game of football more than anything in their live’s and thus have no desire to go play rugby.
