    This video is an in-depth review of the new Nilfisk Excellent 160, which is replacing the E160.
    It's a solid contender, but not one I can recommend as there's just too many things that aren't as good as the Ava options.

      Lovely stuff! If you haven't done so yet, follow my link for the Ava and I get a small reward from them, which is nice. (Same for the Nilfisk btw, I'm not pro one brand or the other, all I'm interested in is something that works the best and helping people spend their money on the right thing, not the thing you see on Instagram the most, ya know? Nilfisk really don't agree with me on my score of this one, but that's their opinion!)

    Very fair and honest review with no BS, I came very close to getting a mid range AVA but then tried the Direct Hose Grey 7 at their unit and instantly knew this was the machine for me as it could be wall mounted on it's own custom bracket and was built like a tank. More than six months in and no regrets whatsoever, I've just upgraded my stubby gun to an MTM sg35 and some Carscope nozzles which made a massive difference in both user comfort and cleaning ability. Love the garden room/home office/man caveby the way. Hope you enjoyed Waxstock and didn't spend too much ( I did ) but it was totally worth it.

    Great review thanks. Interesting what you've said about AVA as I just had an AVA Evolution P60 delivered this week and it arrived with cosmetic damage which they said would be fine and kindly offered me 10% refund, they assured me the unit would be fine to use. I powered it up, cleared out any air etc and pulled the trigger for 10 seconds then pulled the trigger again and nothing - it had blew a fuse. Went through about 6 fuses and followed the troubleshooting guide and decided it's going back to AVA ... I am gonna get a Karcher or a Nilfisk probably the Nilfisk Core 140/150 range

    • @SuperchargedLlama
      @SuperchargedLlama  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm glad you've had reasonable experiences with their customer service! But it's a shame about the fuses - were you using it on an extension lead at all? I'll try and help troubleshoot with you.
      I would say that the Ava P57 Easy is superb, and that'll be back in stock soon apparently, of the Easy P40 is a bit cheaper, but you get all the benefits of the Ava tools still, which are superb.

    • @Adammc70
      @Adammc70 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I was using it direct into a socket on the ring main, also tried the troubleshooting pages on the website; holding trigger while turning it on, turning it on with water disconnected etc. I think the motors on the higher end models may just be pulling too much power - I've grabbed a cheap Nilfisk Core 140 to tide me over until they sort out their operations and technical issues as design wise the AVA is class leading.

    Interesting, and thought provoking points re the AVA. Totally agree on the e-160 (currently at Costo in august 2023) vs this new one, but all these models are home pressure washers. Realistically if your limited by budget, then OK. The sweet spot for detailing seems to be 145bar / 450lph flow, or there abouts. I think my next one will most likely be a Kranzle 7/22 or a 1050tst, which are marketed to home and garden users, but the price is at the upper end of the scale and beyond The Kranzle 1152 seems to be the choice for most doing this professionally, and the off the shelf packages will need some tweaks.

    • @SuperchargedLlama
      @SuperchargedLlama  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There's a thing here that, with the induction pumps, they are absolutely top end of the consumer pressure washers in terms of durability, but it's also why they are bundled with all the tools etc. It's supposed to be a one stop shop for the customer , and this could be, with a couple of tweaks.
      You're right on the Pro 's going for a Kranzle, but then you're definitely into the pro levels of cost. When my C130 broke, I bought a C135i (no longer made) as it was very close to the performance I got from the Kranzle K7. Even if it only lasts a few years (the last one was 8 years of commercial abuse btw) then that decision was a no brainer, the K7 doesn't give me any more performance, but it does have serviceability, which is a huge boon when it's a trade tool.

    Hey mate, I have just received my Nilfisk Core 150 and surprisingly it doesn't fit my short trigger gun I was using on a Nikfisk Core 140 as mentioned here 16:30 . Have you managed to find what sort of connection is needed for a short gun coupling?

    • @SuperchargedLlama
      @SuperchargedLlama  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hmmmm that sounds very much like the experience I had here then - Nilfisk seem to have subtly changed their connector and not really told anyone. You might be best off talking to some of the suppliers for the short trigger adapters. I've always found Henri at Carscope really helpful, as is Imran and In2Detailing (and you can call them). I think the really big issue is that people aren't aware of the change, so I'm not sure how many adapters have been updated.

    Hi..excellent review especially as I was specifically looking at buying the Nilfisk. At the end of the review you mention better contenders could you name a couple please. As context I only use my existing Karcher K2 for cleaning my patio etc so the stubby gun issue etc isn’t important. Over the last couple of winters I can see the K2 isn’t man enough and a gradual build up of stubborn stains remain I am hoping to spend £350 ish for more pressure and would hope for easy hose storage. Just bought a Karcher HD 4/10 X from Farmfoods, £138!. It is very well built, 8m anti-kink hose with a proper gun and metal lance, very impressed by this pro model. After watching this video, decided to avoid AVA and Nilfisk, the Farmfoods deal which includes 5 year warranty is perfect. I'll need to buy a M22 quick release but as the hose is screw threaded at the outlet, this is a cheap mod.

    Interesting video Adrian, I not looking for a pressure washer as I went for the Allblack 9 from Direct hoses purely for the wall mounted set up they have. It's interesting that they all seem to be copying each other, but there's no real outright winner eg one has a longer hose, one has a better gun etc etc. Surely this day and age they would be able to get a group of detailers (which will be where they are aiming these at) to say exactly what they want and why. Then go away and develop a product, is that me being too logical. Keep up the good work 👏👏

      It's a terrible affliction.
      The 12 year old humour that is 😂 something that affects us all!
      I think there's an issue here whereby I'm not sure if you could change the hose on this. I mean, it is a serviceable part, so you must be able to, but it's definitely not a m22 thread where you can just plug and play, if you know what I mean?
      It's so close to being a 9/10. I reckon I'd even go 7/10 if the hose was longer, because you'd just work around the rest with aftermarket accessories.
      I've got the P200 atm, which is definitely better. Different foam canon but it still has the same draw rate issue, however, I need to try it with something thicker than AutoFoam as that might mitigate it enough, and you'd just say "change your foam" as opposed to buying a different foam cannon.

      @@SuperchargedLlama yeah I get what you mean. I have a karcher hd4/10x Classic. It's on M22 fittings and has a great steel braided hose (10m I think) so I bought from an older fella practically new for £190..he wasn't aware it wasn't compatible with his old K series. For £190 it's a great bit of kit, would I pay full whack? (£355 I think) no, the design compared to the likes of nilfisk and ava is far too basic. But I very easily changed the gun, which is a bonus for me. But as for auto foam, for work it's great. For performance comparison not so good. @@ThunderBandit84 good points made there. I've done a lot of comparisons on snow foams and when I've been reviewing these new pressure washers, I've kept the AutoFoam consistent as a way of comparing the foam cannons that are bundled, so each time I can show the footage to compare them, but I think I should show an alternative with this one just to show that it is viable, especially as the foam cannon on this one is actually reasonably well made, it just has a low draw rate.

      A bit, but the key difference is that the E160 uses an induction motor, which is quieter and more durable than the C140 and C150 which use something called a universal motor. These are far noisier and don't last as long.

    Great informative video, quick question mate. My old Nilfisk E145 has given up the ghost, it's been used hard for the last 7 years but it's now slowly showing signs of problems to come, so I'm torn between the AVA P60 Easy (£319.00) OR the Nilfisk C160 ( £319) OR Nilfisk E150 Xtra ( £299.0). I'm leaning towards the AVA P60 Easy but the lack of online storage when the washer is folded up is a bit of a let down. Main usage would be patio / decking cleaning. I did actually purchase the AVA P60 MASTER but after having it delivered I found that it's massively too heavy so it was returned.

      You've got some great options there dude. I've got the Ava P57 Easy as well as I use that when washing my cars at home. Of the option's you've listed I would go with the Nilfisk E150 Xtra because that's got an induction motor, like you're old E145 - that's the reason it's lasted so long. The universal motors in the C line Nilfisks and the Ava GO and Easy models are good, but they won't last as long as that Nilfisk will.

      @@SuperchargedLlama Have you tested the AVA Easy P60 ? it's replacing the P57. The 10 year warranty on the AVA is also tempting as I dont mind doing the 5 year service myself to gain another 5 years as I enjoy stripping things down and getting my hands dirty.. The motor on my old E145 is still running, the issues its showing is the lance has developed a leak at the midway joint, I tried new O rings but it still leaked so I think the actual lance needs replacing, and its also started to pulse a lot and cut out, I have to switch it off , pull out the hose and reconnect everything for it to re-start, all signs that it needs a new start-stop valve, which after taking a peep inside is a bit of a faff to replace as Nilfisk used a different motor on the E140.2, the other washers in the E140 range are a doddle to strip .
      I could replace these bits but after over 7 years of service other bits might start to play up and I'll just be throwing money at it !
      Thing is as well, I have MS so these days I need something that I can manage weight wise, the old E140 is a bit of an heavy piece of kit, and looking at specs the new E150 it's a bit heavier, where as the AVA P60 Easy is a light weight but with decent punch, in fact it has better flow rate than the E150. I've been online reading reviews and watching videos for 3 days solid trying to make a decision 😵‍💫. My biggest gripe on the P60 Easy is the lack of on board storage when its folded up, theres basically no storage for the nozzles & bottle, and the lance sticks up vertical , so even though the handle folds away, the lance sticks up in the air so the foldaway handle is pointless because all of the storage is built into the handle which cant fold away with the nozzles & bottle attached, I cant understand how the AVA designers missed that one ?

      So, bit of an update. I opted for the AVA P60 Easy. It arrived today, easy to set up, nothing to screw together just clip some of the bits together. First thoughts though not great . Pros : looks good, light enough to carry, heavy enough not to topple over, easy to operate. Cons: Without doubt not as powerful as my old Nilfisk E140 even though the spec is slightly higher on the AVA, the vario nozzle wont touch dirty pavers you have to use the turbo nozzle , my old Nilfisk would clean the patio with ease using the vario & turbo nozzle. As mentioned previously poor storage when folded away. The turbo nozzle actually broke within 20 minutes refusing to spin, I tried stripping it apart and cleaning but no joy, so contacted the retailer for a replacement. I might even send the whole unit back if it fails to impress over the next few days, so far I'm really not impressed at all. Early days but I think the AVA's are built to look fancy but behind the razzmatazz of fancy styling combined with the snazzy bright colours & extending lances they'er a bit of a let down in performance and a build quality . The AVA Easy P60 reminds me of my neighbours son's Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 that he's tarted up with a colourful paint job, wide wheels and a noisy exhaust, it actually looks nice, but under all the tarty stuff its still a 1.2 Vauxhall Corsa !!!!!

      @@jactac879 That's an odd one about the turbo nozzle, I can only imagine it's got something stuck inside that's preventing the ball from spinning round or something like that? I've absolutely abused mine and had no issues at all (when I say abused, I mean completely submerged in mud and bashing it against the bottom of the drainage channel).
      That aside, I think all your other points are absolutely valid and I'm not surprised. Your previous Nilfisk was definitely built to a higher standard than the Ava for sure (and perhaps any Ava). I do think the biggest faux pas with the Easy is that, when folded, there's no storage for anything - I can understand the lance not being stowable, but the nozzles and stuff?! Niflisk's solution is, think, more elegant in its simplicity. But the hose is shorter, their trigger gun is much bigger and you really need a stubby one to replace it (increasing the cost again) and the foam lance that's bundled is crap.....but the actual pressure washer is much better.

      @@SuperchargedLlama , yeah I agree about the Nilfisk foam lance it is very poor, thing is with these pressure washers the end user has to look for something that is going to fit their needs. For me it's more about DIY tasks such as patio/decking cleaning, yes I might use the foam lance now and then but if I'm honest it would be thrown in the back of the shed and forgotten about probably.
      Cleanstore are sending a new nozzle which I'll try but I think the whole thing will probably go back over the next few days. I am wondering though is the lack of power on the AVA due to it having a universal motor and my old Nilfisk having the induction motor, even though the AVA had a slightly higher spec at 145 bar /500 low rate, and the Nilfisk 140 bar 432 flow rate, both are around 2.1watt, in fact the AVA is 2.2 watt and the Nilfisk is 2.0 watt.
      The kick on the lance when the Nilfisk was started was clearly obvious, but the AVA is hardly noticeable.
      The more I'm adding here the more I'm thinking of just packing it back up tonight 🤔

    You seem to be very fixed on stubby gun. I know it's easy to use BUT here safety plays a big role. If you use a stubby gun there is a big risk that you will point pressurized water at your self and cause a severe injury. That is why stubby gun and high pressure nozzle are not allowed to use with Consumer HPW's. In professional use that is allowed.

    • @SuperchargedLlama
      @SuperchargedLlama  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's sort of open to interpretation it seems - Ava aren't breaking the laws with their stubby gun as standard, but the thing you can't put on it is the turbo nozzle, as it's deemed as too dangerous (for the reasons you've stated). Nilfisk and Karcher have taken a very "belts and braces" approach and have left you with their setups.
      Stubby guns offer far more dexterity when cleaning some areas of the car, but they do have some more risk too....although why you'd be aiming a pressure washer at yourself is questionable, accidents can happen of course.

      I just got an Excellent 170, as my first pressure washer and I'm sort of regretting it in some ways - as it's so new there are no parts available for it, nobody knows about it and I still trying to figure out what connector adaptor(s?) I need to fit a better foam cannon to it.
      But it's awesome in that it does wash stuff well and the kit feels solid.
      I did get a few 13 amp fuses blown in the plug but now I use an extension cable with a cutout trip switch built in it's fine. It just didn't like being plugged straight into the wall with no extension.

    A massive bugbear for me is standards. As you pointed out, the guns aren't interchangeable. 1/2 and 1/4 should be the standards and all others banned. Its a hose fitting. Its not like some revolutionary new technology will suddenly make water being transported along a hose significantly cheaper or more efficient. I'd vote with my feet and not buy the nilfisk (though you may only find out when you first try your beloved X attachment).
    Thanks for pointing out both the good and the bad.
    Ps, there's a special place in hell for the bike companies who keep introducing new standards every 2 minutes.

      That's a great idea actually, a bit like the EU law on USB - C for phones, standardised fittings would be great. Tbh I quite like that Ava use Nilfisk and Karcher fittings, although I'm not too sure why they use both! I've got the P200 for review now as I have to say that it is superb...but it's still probably 8/10 because it isn't perfect, and it's over £500

    I wasnt that impressed, based upon your review, not that I'm in the market for a PW anyway, my little K3 does what i need it to do. Sometimes i look at the innovative things AvA do with their storage and nilfisk too, to a point and I'd love that on my PW but, and its a big but, these things are more than double the price. Can i put up with no storage on the machine, yep! OK, so I upgraded to a stubby and I popped a longer/better hose on, but I didnt need to, there was nothing horrific with the Karcher hose and vario lance, they did a job. It's worth remembering that some keen enthusiasts just want a clean car and at the least cost. This isnt a dig at any TH-cam reciews and certainly not this review, it's just another factor to consider. All the best Adrian. 👍

      You're making such a good point here, and I think many people will underappreciate it. It's with those eyes that I was looking at this - if I'm spending that much money on it, I want to have everything and not need anything else. The pump in this is sublime, the reel is really nice...but the hose isn't long enough, the lance a bit unwieldy and the foam cannon doesn't have a good enough draw rate. For £300-400, that should have you completely covered.

This is a really good point I don't want to spend say £300 on a PW and then as a weekend warrior be looking around to get a longer hose, foam cannon, nozzles etc. By the time you add all that on you are getting close to pro standard washers. I'm still waiting for my ancient Nilfisk C120 to go bang before going down the new PW route - I have to work around with I think it's a 7m hose that you need to lay out flat first to stop it coiling 😅
