Good shooting but…Use a dedicated bench rest or gun vice for sighting in. Bipods can affect barrel whip/harmonics, especially if the barrel is not free floated. Sand bags mitigate harmonics. Watch your own video and watch how the bipod moves around, creating inconsistency. You want to eliminate as much human error as you can when zeroing in. Are you familiar with battlefield zero? If not check out some videos.

I'm getting ready for deer season for the 4th time with my 450 bolt gun. One thing I have notices is the effect of wind on the bullet. It appears you have at least a 10 mph wind going on. I have noticed that wind not only makes the bullet drift sideways but also up and down with my 450. When I shoot the same ammo in calm conditions it groups just fine.

If u shot those consecutively that barrel got hot and is stringing all over the place. Gotta let that barrel cool. Notice at first it was trying to group?
I bet that’s all it was. Looks like a potential good shooter buddy 👌🏻

The recoil of the gun was splitting the scope rings i didn't notice it until after the video,, i replaced it with Leupold Rings and a Burris scope and now shoot really good.

I just found your channel today and have watched a few of your videos. Interesting stuff for us fellow gun enthusiasts. What is your first name, and what part of the country are you in? The flat farm fields look a lot like much of Michigan, where I am. Also how does the .450 BM recoil compare to the .300 magnum that you fired vs. the rocks? Thanks for your channel. 👍🏼

The 450 BM recoil isn't bad, but the 300 has a brutal recoil when comparing the two.

@@boltactionballistics Thanks for the reply. I guess I’ll refer to you as BAB since I don’t know your name. I assume that you hunt, in addition to shooting cinder blocks, pop cans, shaving cream. Many of your guns would be good hunting rifles, shotguns, rimfire rifles. Not prying into your personal life, just like to be aware of the interests of those who host channels that I follow.

Yes I am a hunter. I do a lot of archery, but I do like to use my rifles as well. Thank you for the interest in my channel!

Hey bud I’m not trying to be mean to you or anything you should invest in some shooting bags there the best thing I ever invested love your video tho good stuff !! 🎉🎉🎉

Yeah I have shooting bags now i like them a lot

First off, don't sight in when you have gale-force winds. Buy a set of bags to shoot off of; Caldwell unfilled bags from Midway USA are inexpensive. You can fill them yourself with dry rice. Shoot two shots before making an adjustment and tap the scope repeatedly between the turrets with your finger after any adjustment (these vibrations can help set the adjustment in inexpensive scopes). If you can't get your consecutive shots close together, you have a problem and further wasting of ammo is unnecessary.

It was a scope ring issue, the recoil of the gun split the rings so i replaced it with Leupold Rings and a Burris scope.

Try investing in federal non typical whitetail its more consistent than hornady

My Cva scout 450 likes federal ammo. It will put 3 shots into a 1 hole clover leaf at 100 yds. The loads it like best are 260 gr federal fusion or the federal non typical or power shok 300 gr. It tends to like the heavier bullets which is fine with me. I like a heavy payload on deer. I use the hornady black to just get it on paper or foul the barrel. Besides that those 250 gr hornady bullets will cost you a deer sooner or later. To light and the construction of the bullets is trash. That scope is trash too. Get a better scope.

Does this version of the scout have the easy take apart forearm feature or is it set by a screw?

    • @boltactionballistics
      @boltactionballistics  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

Yes 1 screw into the forearm to take it apart.

I found that Hornady black is not the best grouping ammo I'll be doing some reloading

Winchester deer season 250 grain is the best 450 ammo

Probably should spend some money on a good scope. Check screws
