I am learning so much from your channel, and more importantly, you give people confidence to have a go at home. Love the idea of the pantyhose peat holder, as always, you come up with the perfect solution to the dreaded 'my peat wont sink' problem. Your tanks always look so healthy and green, and your fish look fab. Thanks Mark.
Hi Mark, just started watching your channel, over the past week I've been binge watching. What a great channel. I've just retired and you have inspired me to take up this hobbie. I've have an aquarium I'm in the process of aquascaping but I think I'd like to get into breading. I watched Dexter loves Annie's channel that mentioned your channel and I've not been able to watch anything else. I could talk all day about your channel but I don't want to ramble on however I've just watch the one you did in December on the nano tank you made. You say that you don't do the channel for money but if you have time I'd pay for time and materials for one of those tank. It would be great for my daughter who is at university. I'd love some advise about setting up a tank room as I'm putting a new roof on my garage and clearing it out. Looking forward to the part 2 on the Congo tetras. 😎
Great video thank you for sharing your knowledge once again Mark, I was never interested in the egg laying fish, but you have made it so much better to understand that it is not very hard in reproducing them, I wish I had a teacher like you when I was growing up, because your talent is just amazing 👍🏻👍🏻⭐️⭐️
I've REALLY been looking forward to the Congo's. IMHO, the king of the tetra kingdom. Videos and online pictures never do them justice. I once bought a school of juveniles, filled one of my canister filters with Fluval peat and waited patiently for them to come of age. Wouldn't you know.... they ALL turned out to be males.... LOL Life then took me in a different direction and I never got around to spawning them. But it was something I always wanted to do.
I know that I am behind watching some of your videos, but keep trying out the ones I have watched lol 😂 doing brilliant with my yellow and red bristled nose pleco they're breeding like a good one now thanks to your amazing video 👍🏻👍🏻⭐️⭐️
Hi Mark. I'm a new subscriber thanks for these videos, I'm going into retirement soon and I'm getting back into breeding tropical's again after 30 years you are a great help thank you.
Very cool Mark! I love these videos. I hoping to see some ram cichlids sometime, especially German Blues. I've had the absolute worst luck with them, I've gotten the fry to day 2 free swimmers then something always goes wrong. Anyways, thanks again for the great videos!
Another greatly informative video, so glad I found your channel. Was nice seeing you at the beginning of the video. What is the location of your opening title background scene? It's absolutely beautiful. Also what are you using to measure PH accurately / cheaply? As always, will be anxiously awaiting your next video. Should have some nice updates to post upon. Cheers from the US.
I’ve seen three of my females loaded with eggs and I’ve seen them do that lil shimmer dance and drop eggs with the males but I just can’t get them to stay healthy because they always either turn white or grow mould and I’m not sure if the eggs are even for tile 🤦🏽♂️ not sure if I need to super clean the tanks at this point
I have a planted 3.0 light. They spawn at full sun, with no peat, no rain water, ph almost 7. Spawn every day and all the eggs get cleaned up by 5 banded barbs and yoyos. Oh, and they're in a 120. So... Tank deminsions 2x2x4. I have a dozen.
Hi mark hope your well been watching loads of your vids thinking what can i breed ,ive bought some harlequins, but wondered what happened to the fry ,and did you manage to hatch the killifish out yet
Another great video Mark 👍🏻 look forward to seeing the results. My planted nano tank is goin well stocked with some ottos and a small shoal of cardinal tetras so if possible would love to purchase some of your yellow sukura shrimp please ....
Hi Mark. I dont have any peat. So as a substitute, could dripping lower ph water into the tank overnight be ok?? bring down the ph to 6.5 from 7.5. I would have to do some calculations for that.
Question; I have a dirted tank and I'm seeing worms swimming about. Pinkish-tan worms, the biggest over 2 cen. and down. I'm having trouble getting pictures as they are constantly moving. I can't discern if they're flat or round. There's no fish as yet still cycling, but is it something the fish will eat or be harmed by them?
Hi there Mark love the channel, my congos spawn most mornings in winter, I get the eggs out the main tank and put them in a separate tank. I've lost loads of eggs fungus etc I have raised them before but wonderd if there is anything else I can try
Hey Mark. I just learned a trick for feeding fry for live bearers. If you have any rapashi powder food mix, just sprinkle a small pinch or three on top of the water and it is small enough for them to eat it. Might also work for older egg bearer fry, too. Give it a test for yourself.
Hi Mark... I’m looking to breed Green Neon Tetras (my fave tetra)... what would be the best GH for breeding? My tap water is 7 ph and 3GH out the tap. I have 2 100litre tanks... 1 has them in and 1 I use to breed fish... should I spilt the breeding 100litre into 2 tanks with a divider and put in 2 groups of 8 tetra 50/50 female males for maximum yield then take them out ofter 2 days? Regards Jake
Hi I have some lampeye congo tetra. Was wondering if it would be a similar process to breed them as it would be normal congos? I have 8 but would like to get a large schoal of them They are very difficult to find and expensive when you can get them.
Hi after advise. I'm new to the aquarium thing. I have a 85l long tank. Have 2 electric blue ram 2 congo tetras 10 neon tetras. Is there room to add more and if so what would you add?
You should set up those emperor tetras, IIRC the main reason you would set them upin a group is they tend to spawn like kills a few eggs at a time rather than one big spawn. They are IMAO one of the easiest tetras to spawn. They aren't picky about water chemistry. I had them spawn the first time in Miami, FL tap water with a pH of around 8.5 . Anyway I set up 2/3 emperor in a standard US 10 gallon with washable cut to fit A/C filter material as substrate. The main problem is I didn't "cure" the filter material long enough and the tank was a cloudy mess. Many water changes later it settled down, but it sort got put on the back burner as far as projects go. So feeding the tank the other day I noticed a bay swimming around the tank. Thinking I really have to set this up properly now, I fed the tank another time and there were three youngsters. How many of these guys are there? checking the under side of the breding mat that was rnow resting on an angle to keep the adults from getting trapped under it I see about 12 little guys swimming around. Really have to get a new batch of baby brine hatched so I can count pink bellies.
Love your channel Mark! Keep it up! Looking forward to seeing the results of this one. I was actually going to try breeding my Congo’s after seeing your tetra breeding videos. Thank you!
Great video Mark, thanks. I think my Congo’s spawned but I left quite a few shrimp in the tank, I thought they would be safe but I’ve seen no fry, anyone know if that was a mistake ?
Hi Mark, I have been going through your videos quite a number of times in order to setup a breeding tank for my Congos. I have a few questions and wondering whether you will be kind enough to assist. First, how do I know my Congos are mature/large enough to breed? Second, after moving them to the breeding tank, how many days do they usually take to settle down before spawning? Thanks!

Hi Melody. If you use store bought peat just make sure it has no added fertilizers ok. No need to rinse, just fill the pantyhose with it and add the stones like i did in the video ok. Thanks for watching.👍😀
I think my female may be pregnant or full of eggs as she is a hell if alot bigger have u got a email were I can send u a picture of her as I am new to having Congos

You're videos are informative and a pleasure to watch!
Hi Mark, great vid. Although adding RO would decrease PH do you not get PH shock among fish? Is it too little a drop to cause issues?

congrats on your fry. And thanks for watching.😀
If I don't make moss to reduce pH, can I use other ways to change the water to a lower pH or use chemicals?
Great video, though I almost expected to hear your Mrs in the background shouting "... have you nicked my tights again!"
She doesn't know there missing yet! Lol 👍😀
You're awesome. Thank you for sharing so mich great info! God bless!

Hi can one male have babies with two different females in separate setups, or is it necessary to have two pairs
Would vinegar eels be okay as a first food for the fry?
You'll need infusoria as a first food as their so small.
Great video. Beautiful tetras.
Thanks for watching. 👍😀
Great video Mark!
Thanks for watching. 👍😀
Thanks for the help!
Great work Mark what's happening with the pigmy corydoras

Hi. When they're about 2 inches long. The length of time before they spawn can vary from a couple of days to a week. 😀👍
@@MARKSAQUATICS Thanks Mark for your kind reply.

Have you ever bred any larger characin species?
No only the smaller species. Thanks for watching. 👍😀
Thx for the knowledge 👍
Any barbs lined up for breeding?
Yes I'll get around to breeding those guys. Thanks for watching. 👍😀
Great content Mark thanks

🤔 mark if thoose tights was used did you use them 🤔🤔🤔
They don't suit me mate Lol . Thanks for watching. 👍😀
MARK'S AQUATICS hey btw have you ever had Discus? It would be cool if ypu tried to breed some :)
Might be worth re calculating your volumes mate, that's more like 10 gal than 20.
Your right Ben that's my other tank Lol I've got to many Tanks!!! 👍😀
Ohh what a problem to have! :D
If you use the sock-type stocking your wife can have them back to wear afterwards.
Weird I have 5 g and mine just spawned
This video could have been 10 minutes if you stuck to the point and stopped rambling.
I love rambling its what I do best. I hope you have a lovely day.
