    The fact that you sell these and still are open about any drawbacks or issues people may have with this razor, shows your integrity.

    I have never had any blade alignment issues with my Grande. It has been my daily shaver from the day I got it. And I have had it for over 3 years. I get a perfect shave with it every time.

    I have the v2 version Fatip Piccolo. It's my favorite razor out of 50 that I own. It's smooth and effecient. It rinses easy and as for the blade alignment, I actually enjoy adjusting it. The weight is perfect for a razor. Feels very good in your hand. I shave everyday with the Fatip. If you have good technique it's a great little shaver. The price is amazing, 20 bucks for the Piccolo. I don't agree with your overall rating. I would give it a 9.

    No, the finish is not that bad! It may not be perfect, but minor imperfections are a sign of perfection. (...and what do you expect for that price anyway?)

    A quick and easy way to distinguish the V1 from the V2 version is to look at the back of the base plate. The V1 is unmarked whilst the V2 has a small "Fatip" logo engraved. I have the old V1 and no problem with the blade attachment.

    People are too picky, they post stupid comments on forums about Fatips. I own two since 2012 and I’ve never had a bad shave. I own the Grande and The Piccolo along with a Muhle R41, the king of aggressive razors. Guys complain about the finish but these razors are less than €25 and made of brass. Some pot metal razors cost double and are not half as good. I’ve just ordered a Fatip slant OC now too and a Muhle R94 Rocca stainless.

      Hey, do you prefer the piccolo or the grande? I like the idea of the solid handle in the piccolo, but the gold plated grande is also very tempting. I'm leaning towards piccolo as most have said it feels marginally better than the grande.

    • @KRAZEEIZATION

      @@MathiVelan the Piccolo has a solid handle and the grande is hollow. Both are great but I prefer the Piccolo as it’s heavier.

      @@MathiVelan I agree with KRAZEEIZATION. The Piccolo just feels right in my hand. I had a terrible shave with it when I started DE shaving. Gave it another go when I had learnt not to apply pressure, and it gave the best shave ever. I liken it to cars. There are 'better' razors, akin to a Mercedes or a BMW. But the Italian sports car.....

    A reminder that a reduction in cap span does not necessarily translate 1:1 into greater exposure. It does so only if angle and position of the guard edge remain the same. Everyone seems to confuse cap span with blade exposure, they are not the same measure.

    • @MaggardRazorsTV
      @MaggardRazorsTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You're correct, I probably should not have used the term exposure during that portion of the video. That said, there is significantly more exposure on the V1 Fatip head vs. V2 :)

    I actually saved with mine yesterday. Since it’s handmade it has alignment problems so you have to make sure the blade is even on both sides before you start your first pass. It gets annoying in the beginning but not that hard to get used to

    • @MaggardRazorsTV

    How does this stack up next to the Maggard Razor Open comb V2 razor?

    • @stefkobl
      @stefkobl 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      PingJocky For me, all Maggard safety razors are quite good, but for entry level. Grande/Picollo are agressive, but they are also much more smooth than R41. I use Grande for shaving 3+ days old beard, and Fatip Testina Gentile for every-day shave.

    • @MaggardRazorsTV
      @MaggardRazorsTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Maggard V2OC is the same as the Parker 24C/26C/63C --- and we would rate that head just a smidge milder than the Fatip 2017+ OC head.

      On thursday I will shave myself with a V1 Fatip Piccolo razor,then I will try it without the middle bar. I will tell you how it was... Once a while ago I have tried this already,but I don't know which razor it was. I know it worked well but it is very dangerous. You can cut yourself very easily,but it is a very good way to style and trim a beard or a mustache... I think the old barbers used to do this and nowadays it is almost forgotten. So,on thursday I will tell you!

      @@nikosk.8216 So,today I shaved myself with the V1 Fatip Piccolo and I removed the base plate for a few strikes... In my opinion,it worked well,the blade was sitting nice and thight and didn't move. But it felt very aggressive and scratchy even thought I've used a russian "Ladas" blade,which for me feels very smooth. So basically it works but keep in mind that I have the older V1 version and absolutly no problem with the blade attachment. The nowadays V2 mostly have this problem and they also have a wider top plate,so the blade exposure is less and the shave is not so aggressive. So,good bye to you,I hope I could help you a little...
      Take care and greetings from Germany!

  • @talega1

    I had the V2 and of course wanted a more aggressive version......found a seller in Germany that had some new old type razors.... got it and......: HORRIBLE shaver.....the issue is that there is little blade support , so the blade "chatters" (vibrates) and this creates some skin irritation.....it did NOT cut my face but the shave was NOT good.....so it went to a drawer....... And the flaw is in the top cap...., when I put a new cap on the old razor....the shave was OK. I have 4 other Fatips.....so I will NOT bother w V1

      Finally someone who sees reason like me. These are ultra sharp blades we are dealing with. You need the devices that wield them to be machined to very low tolerances. Not even beginner razors should have high tolerances “just because it’s a beginner razor”. Pay a little extra if you have to and get a quality razor. I like Muhles and Ikons.

    • @matthewolivier2883

      Um no it IS NOT crap. Very good razor. The blade alignment issue is easily fixable. You just tighten it with the top cap facing down in your hand and the blade will automatically align perfectly.
