    I’ve been looking for a new set of speakers with at least a 10” woofer but my choices at least in my price range are very limited and the closest thing I could find was the klh 5’s or Wharfdale linton’s but they weren’t exactly what I was looking for and felt for what they were they were overpriced. I then discovered Tekton and found exactly what I’m looking for. Great video

    For anyone wondering... yes the boxiness of her voice and some of the percussion is a characteristic of the recording, not of the speakers which are merely reproducing it faithfully. IMO, it mars a beautiful song and an otherwise excellent recording.

      Haha! I’m thinking that by that ridiculous but serious response, the joke most likely went about 100 ft or so (+/- 10ft) above his head, then dropped, hit him directly in the face, knocked him out cold, was laying next to him when he came to, introduced him/herself to him, said, “hello, my name is joke”, and he still didn’t see or hear it.

  • @ericschultz9925

    If you thin felted the entire mid/tweets (that is cover all the front surface right up to the actual dome of each tweeter.....so the only thing not felted are the actual moving domes) you would get more clarity, focus and the speaker would probably image more like a small monitor.
    If you go into the speaker and damp the cabinet more and damp the frames of the woofers with constrained layer damping material, you would get tighter and cleaner bass.
    If you remove the entire xover from the speaker and mount it on an isolated stand behind the speaker and change all the xover parts and wires to state of the art parts you would get another whole level of transparency and clarity......would blow your mind! Of course, you would use a binding post as a clamp to connect your speaker wire to the xover (therefore removing the binding post sound).
    Add some PPT mats and ground enhancers into the mix and you will never leave your chair! The xover parts and wire and felt and damping, etc. would cost around $2K. The tweeter upgrade would be on my list, as well. You could consult with Eric and for a fee he could do the damping and run your fave wires outside the speaker to his stock xover.....then you could tweak the xover slowly over time.
    All the above has been tested by myself and others for years and years. None of what I mentioned is new (well, the PPT stuff is new).

    I have Eric's OB Sigmas open baffle design and I enjoy them immensely with a pair of Hsu Research subs. I am going to have to find a way to listen to his big vented speakers. If they can capture the air of his open baffle design I'm sure I'll have to have a pair!

    I wonder if Tekton will make a statement center to match the Moab's. Years ago, I had a Dunlavy HRCC to go along with my SC-V's. Best center I ever heard! Once you have a full-range center that matches the mains, you'll never be satisfied with small centers again. It makes a huge difference for HT. I'd love to try - or at least hear - the Moab's, as I'm a sucker for bigger speakers (you can only fool the physics so much), but the rear ports concern me.

  • @herrtrigger7220
    @herrtrigger7220 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Deciding on DE or Moab: Mo's use more powerful tweeter ($80 each!) but only use a single tweeter as a 'true tweeter' in the center of 2 seven tweeter clusters all acting as mids instead of the KEF type tweeter-inside-the-mid idea used by DE and described in their patent. DE should have better mid bass and 90% of the Mo's bass, which was more than anyone would ever need. Mo's should deliver maybe 1.5 to 2 db louder in lower bass and upper mids but only at upper volumes, for $1,500 more? Any ideas please share

    Wow my 15" Martin Audio Loudspeakers reproduced this very well, I could FEEL that low end go into my LazyBoy Chair & vibrate my butt. The Horns came at me like a Semi Truck Horn. all in all there like putting a 250 Horse Boat Motor on a small 20 Foot trolling vessel. There INTENSE & good for (SOUND) therapy to soak in Harmonic Pressure like from Tibetan Bowls & Crystal Bowls. Like to hear them play those Huge Japan Drums. Or Native American Tribal Drum with 5 guys hitting it together to form a Heart Beat of Sound Therapy.

    • @innomax007
      @innomax007 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I have had both in my room, if you can live with the Moab's size- they outpoint the DIs in every category especially in midrange/voices transparency and go much deeper in the bass with more authority and impact. I'm the reviewer from AV Showrooms and the room is mine.

  • @herrtrigger7220
    @herrtrigger7220 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Not sure one guy could tilt the Moab while turning a spike at the same time, laying each one down for a dozen small spike adjustments would be ridiculous. Also, are you saying the spike inserts are actually open holes into the speaker enclosure? (If leaving the spikes out effects the port tuning)
