    As a gravel hauler I’ve faced this dilemma and our company has paid for many windshields over the years. We do the best we can to clean off any stray rocks and debris left from loading or unloading but it still happens. Our insurance is very good about taking care of it for us but sometimes it’s best to just swallow our ego and pay for it. And thanks to Jax, I’ve developed a weird obsession with cabovers. Don’t see many pulling gravel trailers these days…

    Retired last year after 36 years behind the wheel .. First new tractor was a 9670 with a NTC 855 and performance nine speed .. Got close to 7 mpg .. When those set back steer 9800's came out , they were all the rage .. Lots of drivers were getting 8 mpg with the 9800's

    It took almost 20 years for International to get all the dash electric bugs out of the 9670; 9700 & 9800 With a bonus Flat Floor design. Great Cab Jacks with good optional Air Ride. The Shepard Steering Gear was the only thing the Old Timers really missed from early 80’s production. I spent 14 years working on them at an IHC truck dealer. 🎉

    I started Ina '79 Trans star , no power steering, no a/c , short wheel base w/ a shiny 290 , 10spd governed @ 62mph and literally drove coast to coast , back to back out of Omaha many times. What progress Intn'l has made . I wouldn't be ashamed to be on the front page of super trucker magazine driving that 9800 cause it just makes good sense

    Really cool rig. The old 9800s have that nostalgic early aero tech 90s look to em. Cool to hear all the stories about it and that it's only had one owner. As well as the fact that it's mostly original. Also I agree with your points on the 9800 being more aerodynamic then some conventials. Great vid man keep up the good work

    I love that truck. I remember when I went through driving school in 08, they had a cut out picture to show the advanced cabover sleeper on this particular truck and at the point I kinda fell for them! Lol.
    Far as the mpg, it’s amazing what a cabover can get. I asked someone about it one day and their theory made sense. Instead of having multiple “walls” or faces for the wind to overcome one after the other, it’s just the one on a cabover. Albeit a large one, but the theory made sense regardless lol. That, coupled with the mechanical advantage yours has with the shorter drive shaft, I can understand it a lot more.

    You're not entirely wrong about the aerodynamics, a rounded nose cabover is about as aerodynamic as a normal sloped-hood truck, and definitely more than the T660. How it works is that a COE has less overall surface area than that of a conventional, and the rounded off corners help even more with the airflow, and that's how it cheats the conventional's sloped shape. For these reasons, the Peterbilt 372 is the most aerodynamic COE and production truck so far due to its extremely round shape and low surface area.

    Jax I am so dumb at some of the stuff I try to do!
    I use only the cheesy free music that’s available on the editing app that I use cuz anything else gets me demonetized for copyright infringement 😬 is there some way to buy your music in a form that I can use on TH-cam videos?
    Yeah it’s probably easy for everybody but I suck at this stuff

    • @realwildwildwest
      @realwildwildwest  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey man! So TH-cam just recently set up a way for creators to purchase a music plan and add music from their music library. You’d do it through TH-cam studio editor after you upload the video but before you release it. That way you can still use your basic editing software you’re use to. I m sure there is a video tutorial on it. On TH-cam’s creator channel. Our current selection comes from the editing program (subscription) we use. But the TH-cam route is a cheap and easy way to add music that is approved👍🏼
