    I’ve had my 2018 Giulia QV for 15 months and dream about driving it every night. It is such an epic car. Can’t say enough. As an American, we haven’t had Alfa’s here for quite some time and I just couldn’t wait to experience this car. Honestly, words are hard to come by when describing the feeling of being behind the wheel of this car.

      I've been driving a 2017 Giulia Ti Sport here in the US since April 2017 and absolutely love it. I just ordered a 2019 Giulia Quadrifoglio and will take delivery in about 3-4 weeks. Mortgaged the house, the kids, the farm, well you get it. Somehow the bank approved my loan and I will have my dream car soon. Nothing compares to the driving experience of an Alfa so it is worth it!

      @@TheAlfaNut .........Hiya.. You can't beat a bit of techno music. Ha ha… But I am sort of half way down the road to decide about getting a Quadrifoglio and then we have all gone into bloody lockdown which is a bit annoying. We have an M$ with comp pack at the mo and its a very very competent car but (oddly enough) the two main reasons we are looking to swap, hmmm three really is 1) We always take our collie dog everywhere with us and its a pain in the arse getting her into the back seats . so 4 doors very useful, 2) The actual doors on the M4 are really really long and are a bit of a nuisance in car parks and 3) the main reason is the Alfa has just got a bit more character and dare I say soul and rarity appeal... and in the comp red its just soooo sexy.
      Have you listened to the difference between standard Alfa audio and the Harman Kardon??? We love our music ( even techno ) so it is rather important for us to have decent audio
      Regards
      Rog

    • @TheAlfaNut
      @TheAlfaNut  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Rog, funny you should say that, I was about to do exactly the same thing: swap my 530e (nice but boring company car) for a Quadrifoglio! Pandemics are a nuisance aren’t they? You will find the interior on the Alfa isn’t as nice as a top end Beemer but frankly its good enough and the Quad has so much character and “brio” compared to German cars, its hard to explain unless you drive one. I had heard that the M4 doesn’t give confidence in the handling department? In my BMW (also Harmon Kardon equipped - I’m a lifelong musician!) I listen to the radio, adjust imaginary spectacles, hum to myself and think about what I’m having for dinner when I arrive home. In the Quad, I shout excited expletives out of the window as I drift past my house sideways, enroute to the distant horizon and whatever adventures await me there!
      Something along those lines anyway 🙂

    Ive owned a Gulia myself for the last 2 years, The Veloce not the QV, and i can agree with your sentiment with this car, its an absolutely thrill to drive, even with the 280bhp version. I have a couple of nitpicks like the exhaust (on my model) could have sounded raunchier and the rubber for the door sealing get worn out while getting in and out of the car because of the B pillar beeing moved forward a bit so you rub it slightly every time (at least for me) I get in and out of the car. Just what the Doctor ordered! Well presented. What do you think of the brakes?

    • @bucketbot1
      @bucketbot1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      IMO the brakes are excellent both for daily driving and on the track as I discovered during the 2 days I spent at Milbrook Proving ground with my QV. During that period the brakes were pushed to the limits with full ABS and non ABS hard stops at speeds up to 140 MPH. Also there is sufficient feel and feedback to accomplish non ABS stops at moderate speeds in the wet and thus avoid aquaplaning.

    • @TheAlfaNut
      @TheAlfaNut  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Henry, the brakes are pretty powerful but maybe a little bit unpredictable in feel, especially when slowing to a stop, or holding the car in gear. I have a hybrid with regen brakes as a daily though so I’m used to that! To me they felt “normal” 😄

How to sell a boring car? Fill car with gadgets to divert attention from the vanilla driving experience! The QV is purely focussed on driving enjoyment, the toys are secondary.

    After the Comp Red and the Alfa Red, I think that the White looks best on the QV. I thought white was the best color for the 2017 Cadillac CTS-V I traded in for a 2019 Alfa Red Giulia Quadrifoglio. The Cadillac had some fit and finish issues, but mainly persistent torque converter transmission vibration issues that I didn't want to deal with. It was an awesome car but the QV is more responsive and agile in handling and steering, and I find it more comfortable. My 2019 QV was built in August 2018, and although I didn't consciously notice it until I read about the issue, the 2018's and the early 2019s used different wheel springs that created about three-quarter inch more gap between the top of the wheel and the fender than previous, and apparently, more recent models such as in your video. I suppose there's a little more ground clearance with the taller springs, but it is hard to get an answer about why Alfa Romeo did that--apparently they won't correct it for free. It doesn't really bother me and may give it a little softer ride and more ground clearance, but it does look different, although I didn't consciously notice it until the issue was brought to my attention on a forum.

    • @TheAlfaNut
      @TheAlfaNut  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I’ve read about the spring height controversy! The earlier Quads did have slightly higher ride height but why? I dont know I’m afraid.

    • @fredbloggs6080
      @fredbloggs6080 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Except that the earliest ones in 2017 also had the lower springs, which they apparently have gone back to now. You can see in this TH-cam video from October 2018--it doesn't say if the car is 2018 or early 2019--also a right-hand drive vehicle, how much higher the fender is above the wheel. I suppose there might be some people who think it looks better that way--anyone?

    Great Video Chris, loved your comment about the QV being an epic daily. That's just what I did, I've had my montecarlo blue QV since Jan 2017 and love it to bits, it's such an epic epic car, rare and I get loads of friendly comments all the time. You'l never get that in a german equivalent would you. I've done 24k in mine in 14 months, message me if you want to hear how it's been. Here's mine with the AHM exhaust valve mod - valves open in any mode - th-cam.com/video/RUEB6NEjhE8/w-d-xo.html

      Thanks mate, thats what I’m planning to do for my next car. I chose my company car (bmw) over a Giulia Veloce because the tax was too high but life is too short to drive a boring daily, so I’m going to opt out of the company scheme and get a Quad next Spring! I’ll take a look at your video 👍🏻

    Great channel mate, but you need to drop the Neo-Trance-EDM music, its torture. Im saying that as an Electronic Music Producer for 25+ years. Get something a little more classy and downtempo, and your video's will be timeless. This stuff is going to sound very dated in about 2 years.

    • @TheAlfaNut
      @TheAlfaNut  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha, yes I know - I've been doing electronic and live band production since the early '90's too! To be honest I might start using some of my own recordings in the future, open.spotify.com/album/3cLStEux7wXjPWOPF1r54R?K= (instead of free-to-use TH-cam mp3's.)

    • @TheAlfaNut
      @TheAlfaNut  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi mate, mine is a daily and its amazing! Fuel consumption is the only spoiler for a daily driver - I get about 23mpg. On a motorway trip though, 36mpg is normal. It’s worth it, just make sure you check the rear shocks, as these tend to fail in the earlier cars. 👍🏻
