This. Is. Wholesome. If more people did some thing even slightly akin to this, even just one time … I think our wilderness would be managed in a much different manner. Thanks for being advocates for forests while out on your adventures. Keep it up Matt, and Clint and Jordan. Every video you put out pulls us all along the journey with you.
That was GREAT. You’ve reminded me I need to get some serious backcountry time in… thanks. Also great shots GALORE… I loved the skies/colours in this and the rainy night shots. Definitely captured the entire scope of a trip! But beautiful landscape shots wow.. and great story. That WHISKEY though 😂😂 and I think my fave moment even by the end was the Gandalf bit 😂😂 great job. Also nice to see passing storm used!! Where did the rest of the music come from? Sounded great!
Ahh thanks so much pal! It sure was a treat for the peepers out there, so Im glad to hear I managed to capture it! You are overdue for a backcountry trip... this summer!! Yeah that whiskey bottle sure seemed to conveniently find its way into a lot of shots haha. This video was brought to you by Jameson ;) Passing storm was so perfect... just fit right in like it was made for it. Ready for the sequel to Algonquin Park Sketches haha! Seriously 😐 "Ancient Forest Etudes" The rest of the music I accumulated over time, I think most of it is stock, minus RUSH at the very end, which I accepted the copyright infringement on, because well its Rush.
Thanks for the falashbacks Matt. About 30(?) years ago, we flew in to Smoothwater Lake & camped on the Island. Over the next week or so we made our way over to Scarecrow Lake and did the Ishptina Ridge hike (I climed the tower), then made our way over to and down the Sturgeon River and back to our cars on L. Temagami., an unforgetable trip to say the least. Happy paddling in 2024+
Very nice job filming and narrating. Have to say you guy's are hard core pushing late into the night. It really burns me up inside that nothing can be saved or protected on both sides of the boarder. Just little pockets of National parks. What does it take to protect the last of the last weather in Temagami or on Vancouver island. Glad though that a lot of your trip was through some nice country!
Thanks so much, Donald… it really is a travesty that the government values money more than the forest growing for thousands of years. But I remain positive that this will change. Thanks for watching and for your comment 🙏🏼
Was this june? It was an awesome trip, was it a bear at the camp? Nanook is a stubborn character, you guys are a well oiled machine. Are those cast iron lidded pots? Must be heavy ! Seems like everyone had a memory of this one
Yeah this was first few days of June. And yea it was a bear, lots of junk left at that campsite by campers… Nanook likes to have fun that is for sure haha, one of the boys.. but he normally dosnt run off like that, hopefully he now knows to leave porcupines alone atleast. And no the pots are stainless steel, GSI kettlist, really light, the unofficial sponsor of all our trips haha. Yeah this trip was a doozy for sure! Thanks for watching Jeff 🤙🏻
Matt - Where do you find those pots you use with wide handles? BTW - loved this vid. I have great memories of the Temagami area. Did a semi-loop a few years back in the Twinkle Lake area.
Its a nice video but wow... no lifejackets and wearing bluejeans and boots. That is not going to help you have a long canoe career. Its just a numbers game, you would never escape the laced boots and bluejeans once flipped. I have seen them recovery a body while remote wilderness paddling. The repetitive late night paddling and doggie disasters also pretty bad. You guys make great videos but your safety needs a big upgrade. I always make my dog travel behind me to better manage my dog events.
@@MattSteeves if you flip good luck grabbing the life jacket, untieing your boots and pulling off the blue jeans while paddling in the dark. Blue jeans are a disaster to get out of in water. Ask Hap Wilson about your safety issues if you don't respect my comment.

Your words warm my heart 🤗. thank you Jess!
Forestry is vital for the economy and the ecosystem. It grows back faster and healthier.
Awww Nanook you little rascal😜 I definitely entered a “float state” while watching all this beauty 🌿 Thank you for sharing your soulful journey🩵
Haha yeah Nanook truly is a trickster. So glad you enjoyed it, Sunny! 🤗

Awesome adventure, lads!
Thanks so much Aaron!
Man, your video is epic!! You capture exactly what it is to canoe trip with the guys. I am blown away by the cinematography. Truly a well told story!
Really appreciate that Dave! thank you
@MattSteeves I try to capture that feeling in my videos, too. I hope to get up temagami way soon.

Thank you Janne! No this was actually this was from a while back, but the same time of year! Peeper season
Awesome! I have been to Temagami many times but have never gone into the woods there. A dream trip of mine
Thanks man! I hope you can make that Temagami dream come true! 🙌🏻
Great video! Deserves a lot more views.

@@MattSteeves whats the go to meal in the pots?
@@jeffmoffat6967 Coffee! Haha. And Oatmeal… And when desperate sidekicks.
👍. You must have been to Hillsborough New Brunswick before? Home of the Steeves family…
I have indeed! Twice. A very cool town, really enjoyed the William Henry Steeves museum! Definitely need to revisit one day.
@@MattSteeves my home town…
@@andrewmacaulay1585 Oh right on! Very quaint. Neat that you came across this video. Is a lot of the population still related to Steeves?

Yes… there’s plenty. I grew up here from the age of eight….
I’m new to your videos. You sound like Marty Stouffer to me. I loved his voice:) And I love your’s also.
Well thank you very much! Thats a mighy fine compliment 😁
Awsome video extra candy for you next time in one of the best places on earth T-Mog

Thanks Dan! Glad you enjoyed. The pots are called GSI Kettlist, you should be able to find them at most outdoor adventure stores or Amazon. Cheers!
You should go to the boundary waters canoe area in Minnesota USA
Thanks for the recommendation, Mike. will look it up! cheers
any idea what happened to the freedom convoy song?
