Went to Gunsite in 1990. Training was good. All the trash talk about 9mm's, Glocks, and double action pistols got old as I had a Beretta 92 at the time. Still a fun course, a wide variety of people in the class.

There is a reason why someone got shot by accident. CARELESSNESS. When you have a firearm in your hands it demands your 110% attention. Don't be afraid of it & know what it can & can't do. When used for protection in your home a firearm is the difference if you live or die.

I wonder if these tactical malfunction drills have been updated for striker fired guns since this vide. Seem much of this is specific to the design and tendencies of the 1911. Would be nice to see them practice getting off line while clearing the malfunction

1 example: The reload. You are accomplishing nothing tanglible by waiting to hit the mag release but a slow reload. If the gun is at slide lock, the mag should be out at fast as possible. The magazine should go into the mag well without any delay. It costs nothing to teach someone to simply guide the magazine into the well the first time.
have you been to a gunsite course? theres other stuff they teach besides what he said here. what he was showing basics. for the entry level shooter. what hes teaching here gets piggybacked onto later on for low light or complete darkness. that's why he said to feel with your finger as well. this isn't all they teach. ereryone of their instructors have been in the real shit one way or another. of my instructors one was a former recon marine and the other was lapd swat. they know their stuff. well enough infact that the marine corps adopted what they teach for their marksmanship program and continue to teach it to this day. but hey, what does the marine corps know right?
