    My N was soooo good stock, but after i recently tuned it, it literally rips so hard now its insane! 20psi of boost, SXTH Element ECU tune. If u want a REAL tune buy a spare ECU and tune it, that way you can go back to stock when you hit the dealer, people just want cheap and the jb4 is cheap. If that module fails or over heats in the engine bay its not going to be good, just my two cents

    Huge ups to hyundai for creating this beauty. Owned a 2015 VT and had so much fun racing wrx's and mustangs through canyons. Sadly totaled my car in an accident. Had to pick up a 2017 civic sport turbo, a beautiful, completely gutless car. Think it topped at 180hp. 3 years later I saw the 2020 VN at the gym parking lot and could not believe my eyes. Hyundai had responded to the veloster love by making a fully equipped race car STOCK. Lets just say my 180hp honda was sold within the week and the 250 hp VN took its place. My first stick car too. LOVE IT. The power and handling are incredible. Gonna keep this puppy for a LOOOOOOONG TIME.

They have not only addressed wheel hop, but make the clutch engagement much better! I have an intake-side catch can. I also installed rigid collars (sub frame bushings) to make the car more solid. I have not done anything else because the car is so well sorted. I replaced the door speakers too. I am also running MT-LV transmission oil which has smoothed the shifting. Let's see, the high beams were halogen with the low beams LED. I replaced the high beam lamps with LEDs which have the same temperature as the low beams...perfect. There is also a sound speaker in the cowl. We call it the sound turd on the forums. I completely removed it and the car sounds normal again.

    Several questions... Anyone... please help me with answers... Thank you !
    Can you buy and put a space saver spare tire in the trunk area?
    Is this car as fun to drive as a Type R? (Nothing to do with speed Just the feeling)
    Is this car comfortable enough to take on a 300 mile plus vacation trip?
    Would you consider this car to be a more reliable car than the VW GTI or a BMW 230i in manual only?
    Has anyone checked the real world mpg when not driving like a hooligan?
    What color does anyone think looks best on this car?

    • @TheDon30740
      @TheDon30740 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think I've gotten mine up 23mpg. The hooligan in me won't let it stay like that. It rides good in normal mode. The beautiful thing about this car is the custom N mode. You want all the power but a somewhat comfy ride you can adjust it in custom N mode. I could do a 300 mile trip in my Veloster N.

    • @oldinolo2780
      @oldinolo2780 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it comes with a spare tire
      I’ve own my Veloster n for two years and I still turn back to look at it when I park. And it still brings smiles to my face driving it and being one of a kind on the streets. I took a trip from Md to NC and it did fine ! I will say it’s pretty Confortable if you don’t have any pre existing back issues. Other wise the seats may feel a little tight. I have 22k mile and it’s been pretty reliable so far. My highest mpg from the trip was 38mpg highway. I average 25-28 city on a daily basis. The only thing is the cost of gas since you will be required to put 91-93. The tires are a little thin so avoid potholes at all cost. The brakes oxidize in the rain or snow. I’d rate the car an 8.5/10 in terms of my experience with it.

    Nice video, great to see what owners are doing to their cars.
    QUESTION: How does the transmission on the DCT model work when in SPORT or N Mode, as far as shifting throughout the rev range? Is it left entirely to the driver to shift at any desired point throughout the range (as if driving a true manual transmission), or does the onboard computer interfere with driver input at certain revs if no input is detected from the driver?

    • @alexithymia6288
      @alexithymia6288 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Owner of a '22 VN DCT here. If it's in manual mode, it will let you bounce off the rev limiter if you don't give any input for upshifts. It does automatically start dropping gears if your speed is super low compared to the gear you're in if you don't give input for downshifts. SPORT mode is pretty chill, makes the car sounds good and stiffens things up a little bit to make it feel more responsive; in automatic it will shift a bit later in SPORT than in Normal mode, and will not shift into 8th gear until you hit like 3.5k RPM in 7th unless you turn cruise control on.
      N Mode is where the fun really starts, steering and suspension gets quite stiff and the exhaust opens up for those glorious crackles and pops. MPG goes down the drain, but that's expected for N Mode. If pressing the gas pedal normally, it will shift when it hits around 2.5-3k RPM at 13MPH, 28MPH, 41MPH, 55MPH, 70MPH, then stay in 6th until somewhere beyond 90MPH (have only had it up to 115MPH so far but wasn't paying attention to these details at that point lol). If you really press the gas, it'll wait a lot longer between shifts until the 5k range. My only complaint so far is that you feel a significant power/response loss in manual mode versus leaving it in auto, but other than that I absolutely love driving it daily, and I rarely have it in anything under SPORT mode.
      I paid WAY over sticker for it because it was the last blue one the dealership was getting since Hyundai isn't gonna make any more (and the only blue one available within 250mi at the time), but it was worth it IMO. Gonna give it a stage 1 tune for +40WHP and +60lb-ft torque which puts it at 275WHP and 320lb-ft torque and probably leave it there.

    Why need a catch can for the oil? Just bought this car and receiving it in a couple days but does it have oil leaking problems or something?

    • @josht2103
      @josht2103 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      So if you do research on Catch Cans and how motors work. Essentially the TLDR is that when your motor does work, AKA explosions happen in the combustion chamber, some of the air is pushed past the rings of the piston, causing the motor to have positive air pressure. The way motors circumvent this is by taking that air and ventilating it (in theory just the air) back into the motor/intake so it can be reused. However, a byproduct of this is that some oil particles get sent back with that circulation.
      Normally, on non Direct Injection cars (where the fuel is injected inside the combustion chamber versus before it in the intake manifold) this isn't a big deal because the fuel that is squirted in the intake manifold will clean the valves that open up and allow that dirty air to pass. On Direct Injection cars, you don't that fuel cleaning byproduct thus people use Oil Catch Cans to filter the air coming out of the engine being recirculated so that oil is "caught" and then dumped and it keeps the engine cleaner.

    How does the veloster n do in the snow

    • @npaul4171
      @npaul4171 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It will do well in lighter snow if you get winter tires...obviously if you try to drive in winter with the stock summer tires it will end poorly as they harden up in cold and lack any siping for snow. You can get away with a good UHP All Season, such as as the Pilot Sport A/S 3+, but you aren't getting anywhere near as good as winter performance as a winter tire and you lose a lot of dry and wet warm performance compared to a true summer.
