Kapss 08 honestly brand snobs are my least favorite kind of car enthusiast. You can always find them under any Kia/Hyundai video commenting “it’s still a shitty Korean car”
@@Wolfy400 Brand snobs? You know about the FACT that the reason Hyundai/Kia are doing this well is the fact that they basically replaced their entire design and engineering teams with people who used to work in Audi, VW and BMW? So the car snobs are right, because the people who used to make great cars for "snob brands" were hired by a shitty brand, and then turned that shitty brand into a brand that makes great cars. The whole N-line of Hyundai's is developed by a guy who used to be one of the leading engineers in BMW M division. Those are FACTS. There's no such thing as "brand snobs". There are simply people who know A LOT about cars, and those who don't. And those who don't know a lot about cars often believe that highly regarded brands are only considered great because of their badge, but ignore the fact that in order for them to be considered great, they had to get to that point. And how did they get to that point? By consistently making great cars. You think someone who likes BMW's over Hyundai's is a snob? No. It's just a fact that BMW has been making the best cars in every segment they competed in for decades, and Hyundai has been a synonym for cheap disposable cars during the same time. So obviously BMW will have a better reputation, and Hyundai will have a lot of work to do in order to prove they're on the same level. It's just that, they couldn't do it on their own, they had to hire the very same people who made BMW great, in order to make Hyundai/Kia have a chance to compete with them.

As someone who tools about in a FWD on the daily, you really don't need AWD unless doing some hard acceleration or sliding about. if you don't mind me asking, what are full bolt ons for a 3.8 gen coupe? I just got one less than a year ago and have been doing the basic exhaust/transmission mount upgrades for now (the isr performance racing cat back sounds fuckin AWESOME)
Quin Burke A lot of people do it different but i have a true cold air intake in the fog light with the black grill piece out so the filter is exposed and getting air (no problems ever in rain or puddles in heavy rain), polished throttle body with coolant bypass, ported and polished upper and lower intake manifolds with the manifold riser (intake and manifolds are heat resistant gold tape wrapped) , equal length ported headers catless that are heat wrapped, test pipes, stillen straight through catback exhaust, and alphaspeed custom tuned. My engine was taken care of well since i got the car basically brand new so my timing is only 1 to 2 degrees off of what e85 guys run, so i’m just about at 340whp

I remember when my dad bought an xg350 in 2002 and it was a great, "luxury" sedan. That car was hyundai testing the waters for what would inevitably become their future. They have worked their asses off for 20+ years to make what they have today. A true success story.
Love the look of the N. Having a RS myself it’s hard to compare any car to it in its price range. Owned many Subaru’s but the RS is of its own. Nice honest review and it open my eyes to what the N is capable of.
It certainly does rev out fast to redline. Especially when it breaks loose in first and second gear. It usually grips, and i love the little gear number indicator on the dash
I owned a 2016 Focus RS, and now i have the Veloster N which i bought because it felt like a ridiculously well priced "baby" Focus RS. I love it, and with the money you would have otherwise spent on the Type-R just get a few upgrades and enjoy the hell out of it.
I've had mine for a year and a half and absolutely love it. I get compliments on it daily. People will even roll their windows down and talk to me about it in traffic. It is sooooo much fun to drive!
Yeah those new Veloster N's look extremely clean. It's cool seeing car companies figure it out. Toyota has come around with their new Camry, Corolla Hatch and Supra as well.
I've never been into Kia or Hyundai, but they've been doing really good as of late. My mother has a 2012 Kia Optima 2.0t and i already know that she has no clue how capable that car is. I've raced plenty of equivalent category cars and won quite a few
What I don't understand is how people will still dismiss this car as "it's just a hyundai" How do you expect a company to get better if you just dismiss it because of the name that's on it? This is how companies become great! I came from an Infiniti G37X, and I never thought I would enjoy a Hyundai more than my G, but the 2nd gens are on another level. These are the cars that will become cult classics some day when Hyundai's name will be up there with the all time greats. Their Rally team has been doing insane things, and they're more race oriented than a lot of modern companies these days. I feel like Kia/Hyundai are going to accomplish great things in the near future, and they're already well on that path.
I’m really surprised David didn’t even mention the Golf GTI. It is literally the poster child for the hot hatch segment. The Veloster N is in the same price range of the GTI.
What a great car! I sold Hyundai’s for 5 years. Was with them when this car came out in 2012. Wow they really improved this Model. It now shares the Elantra Sport platform with its independent rear suspension. It use to be on the Accent platform, ho hum. Solid twist beam axel, 1.5 L turbo motor. Now it’s really come int it own! I sold Luxury cars for about 15 years before moving to Hyundai. Wow did they impress me. The dealer I worked for was top in their market, great CSI! There service department took great care of all my customers! Pugi Hyundai in Downers Grove I’ll.
I work at Hyundai and have owned a lot of fun cool cars but this car puts a bigger smile on my face than any other cards I’ve ever owned. The car has an ALS system. It really feels like a lil rally car.
So cool to see the car I own getting praise! Glad others see it the same way I do: AMAZING! I love this car and will tell everyone the same thing, that this is the best car to own right now. Sub-30k, 275 horsepower, grippy, fun, loud. If it were AWD it would be the perfect car. It's also super easy to modify this car and Hyundai even tell you this. The car is a dream to drive, and amazing to daily. I roadtripped mine cross country, and had 0 issues, I LOVE this car.
Glad to see someone giving the Veloster love! I love mine ! Sxth Element is great . I saw that car when they were doing my car (no headlights) and I have to say those headlights are sick 🔥

I work at a Hyundai dealership and i can safely say, they have a lot of the car market wrapped around their finger because of the affordability and how luxury they feel
Fun fact: Hyundai also developed the Veloster N to run a full tank of gas around a racetrack without over heating. Hmmm 🤔last I checked, Honda had to update the Type R because of over heating issues and that happened well before it ran out of a tank of gas ⛽️
Fun fact: Renault developed the Megane RS to run on a track at the south of Italy at 40+ degrees celsius for 24 hours straight, just stopping for refueling.
I had a '19 Veloster N. Great car. I loved so much about it, but I had to get rid of it because I couldn't handle the clutch anymore. It's an easy clutch, but I have a messed up left leg and driving even short distances just hurt; however, I heard Hyundai is releasing a DCT version of the N, which might bring me back.
I've really been wanting to upgrade from my VT to an N. Despite you not being a fan of the Tiburon, that was the car that got me liking Hyundai. Wasn't the fastest or smoothest ride, but with a few minor upgrades, it was really a fun car, and I've never had a car start so reliably in the cold. When it was -20° out and nobody's cars starting, the Tibby would always pop right off. Props to Hyundai for coming so far with their reliability.
I was a salesman for Hyundai/Genesis for about a year. And No bias, still to this day I want to purchase a G70 3.3T. Needless to say their G80 and G90 are equally impressive and this here veloster N is a true driver oriented blast! Drove our showroom N and the cracks and pops were hella addicting! Haha
If you've ever spent a lot of time in a Tiburon I don't think you would be saying what you said about them! One of my buddies dropped out of high school to start making 80+ grand a year when he was 17. He bought a 2006 Hyundai Tiburon GT (in 2007) for 10k and some change, keep that in mind. The car was a year old, it had like no miles on it, perfect white paint, 17 inch Enkei wheels. The thing looked great honestly, especially being 17 year old kids. It was a lightweight(ish) two door, small, fun car. Had a 2.7 liter v6 and 172 horsepower. Not a ton, sure, but it was absolutely enough to get out of its own way.. He got lucky and bought an exhaust on ebay for like
the carbon fibre hood with the black painted fender looks so badass and aggressive with this car! Not to mentiion the splitter and the wheels.. Perfect setup. Dream car

I used to work for Honda, and found when we got used car stuff in for Hyundai's we sold the parts the the same or better quality, better packaging and much lower price. Hyundai is way better than they used to be for sure.
I pass this car all the time where I live I can’t believe you’re reviewing it!! It always breaks my neck 😂
In case people don't know, this engine was joint-developed with Mitsubishi and Chrylser. It is basically the same engine used in the Lancer Evo X.
Seriously?
So it's a 4B11 block?
@@mangoshake No. Just similar design but not exactly the same. I believe Hyundai manufactured the 4B11 blocks and heads for Mitsubishi during their joint venture since they had the factory to support it. But Hyundai took a lot of Mitsubishi's tech and further developed it into their own cars.
@@PiroFyre I see thanjs
The 2.0 theta engine was co developed but it is not the same. Bottom end is different 4b11t is a 4 bolt main theta is 2 bolt main rods and crank are different oil ports are different between the two. 4b11 is a semi closed where as theta is open deck. Head gaskets are also different. They also have different cam shaft configuration they can share valve springs and valves but that’s about it. Please be clear when discussing this as loosely they are cousins but not the same.
Even if it's not the fastest, one thing I've noticed about all reviews of people reviewing the Veloster N - everyone always has a smile on their face and they are laughing and having fun.
TDIB: "The Veloster N is filling a void. The Focus ST is gone and the Fiesta ST is gone."
GTI and Golf R: "Are we a joke to you?"
Gentry both of those are in a different price bracket than the STs and N
the Velostet N is pretty close to the GTI price range
Yes, yes they are 😂
Except I'd never buy a VW. Too many reliability issues.
Type R: what the fuck? You guys in the states waited years for me....
I can’t wait till I save up enough to buy one of these. Korean cars have really come a long way Key examples being this car, the Kia stinger, and the genesis g70.
I own a 19 g70 as my daily and for what I revived as in performance and luxury to money it was a steal man drop the name brand shit and it’s crazy what the Koreans are doing
Kapss 08 honestly brand snobs are my least favorite kind of car enthusiast. You can always find them under any Kia/Hyundai video commenting “it’s still a shitty Korean car”
@@Wolfy400 Real recognize real
@@derbigpr500 So someone who buys a car for it's heritage, rather than it's merits isn't a snob? k.
Seeing David smiling and happy behind the wheel is the best stuff of life. When I have the money to buy a Type R I'll get Patterson Car Care for upkeep but I don't clean my dusty 07 Altima sadly. Thank you for all these wonderful years of cars and car culture!
Honestly after many of your reviews over the last few years you have gotten me into hot hatches. I always liked the veloster but when I saw the N I knew I wanted it. I wish it had AWD but I'm really looking at going drive one soon.
As someone who tools about in a FWD on the daily, you really don't need AWD unless doing some hard acceleration or sliding about. Even in snow, FWD will take plenty good care of you so long as you put winters on it. Source: am Canadian and enjoy watching SUVs slip, spin, and get stuck while my Mazda keeps going confidently.
“best korean car ever made”
me: **cries in my fbo 340whp NA genesis coupe 3.8**
Brooooooooo I'm full bolt on as well but my boy got a N. Trust me when I say the confidence you get driving that car is unreal
The Broke Consumer it’s all good, i like the veloster too, but i’m going to boost my 3.8 very soon
if you don't mind me asking, what are full bolt ons for a 3.8 gen coupe?
Theedd9991 cold air intakes don’t actually work. Almost at all.
You can't act like the first one didnt happen. That's like saying you got a loaf of bread with no butt. You gotta start rough before you get to the good part. And that's what Hyundai did
I was really amazed by how awesome that car is. The combination of power and fuel economy is incredible.
In my country, we have the I30N (and fastback N) but not the veloster, actually no veloster at all.
But we do have the MK8 Fiesta ST(yes the 1.5 3cyl 200HP ecoboost) and MK4 Focus ST( yes the 2.3 280HP ecoboost)
quite ironic.
I wish in the states we had the i30N I would’ve put 10k down on it
If we got the i30N (which is our Elantra) I would buy one in a second.
I'm butthurt we didnt get that sweet little MK8 ST. Veloster is 1st on deck as of now. Toyota bringing something stateside though...
@@akiraproject2424 the GR Yaris? yes but that car will be very expensive. on the plus it's probably the only road rally car available today that is not an STI.
I prefer the i30N fastback - always been a fan of fast saloons. Daughter works at a Hyundai dealership and took me out in an i30N hatch. The exhaust crackles are intoxicating!
As someone who has a 2016 veloster turbo I absolutely love these cars and am happy they are getting more attention!😎
What makes me laugh, are Hyundai HATERS.
They claim to HATE Hyundai vehicles(Korean vehicles), yet they waste their time watching videos of Hyundai vehicles
Life is too short to be wasting your time doing something that you hate.
Maybe they are lonely M.f.'s, who like to post mean comments so people can speak to them😢😭😭😭
How about watching videos of vehicles that you do like?😀😁
If you're wasting your time watching reviews/videos of vehicles you claim to hate, that makes you an IDIOT!
Great review dude!😁😎
Shut up for god sake 😂
owen marron looks like the shoe fits now doesn’t it
Some random dude once said hyundai are bootleg mercedes. They do look similar
@@MrTmenzo I think if anything they look more like Audi’s
Not exactly , could be they hated the car after the review or somethin idk
We have Stinger guys on the forums now running low 11's, with 125 mile an hour trap speeds. That's Hellcat level. With a rear sway bar upgrade and slight lower the Stinger also handles like it's on rails despite weighing so much more than the N.
If I can get the money together for a hot hatch, the Veloster N is my first choice. Underrated as hell and this lovely in-between of Japanese and German quality with a very Korean personality.
This is one of the nicest looking cars I've seen in so long, the carbon hood and fenders with that front lip is so clean
Hyundai is on top of this game right now🔥
The Veloster N is an amazing car for what especially when you’re talking about the amount of performance it has for the value
The 2019 Veloster N’s used are 24k all day. Used 2019 civic Si’s are 24k! Great bang for your buck!
CommandoPG my friend brought an Civic si and I told him you could have got a Veloster n for the same price.
Dnt sleep on the Forte Gt stock vs stock civic si. Forte gt it beats them in a race. Tork motors tunes kdm has stage 1 stage 2 tune 240-270 300-340hp an bigger turbo for the forte gt 0-60 6.4. And dodge charger gt 0-60 is 6.4 not the RT the GT 300 hp
And only 23k 26k top for the car with better tires guys have hit lower 6.s in 0-60 imagine a tune on the 7 speed dct with only 2900 weight
Noise Control anime trash
@@zacjohnson452 🤣
I only wanted a 3.8 from Hyundai, now im considering this hatch, looks soooo good and sounds awesome!
I remember when my dad bought an xg350 in 2002 and it was a great, "luxury" sedan. That car was hyundai testing the waters for what would inevitably become their future. They have worked their asses off for 20+ years to make what they have today. A true success story.
I love our Veloster N! It’s such a blast to drive
This is why I love your channel. You also showcase the things normal tuners drive and sometimes the unorthodox ones. Keep it coming my dude 💯!
I still wished they made a 3rd gen genesis. The 2nd gen was pretty dope and made pretty good power
The T-GDI engine is almost the same build specs as an evo x 4b11-t its SOLID.
Finally a modified N review.
Love the look of the N. Having a RS myself it’s hard to compare any car to it in its price range. Owned many Subaru’s but the RS is of its own. Nice honest review and it open my eyes to what the N is capable of.
I really hope this helps the KDM platforms in general. I love my genesis coupe and it has never failed me
Same 👌
I’m trying to get a bk2 as a daily and tuner are they reliable
@@Longshlongjon22 there reliable as long as you take care of them honestly and of course the more you drive them hard the less reliable they are
Biermann is the best investment Hyundai/Kia has made. He/They are absolutely killing it.
The I30N is just as awesome too.
Murica didn't get it
@@jacobwebb8818 Yeah true, but UK didn't get the Veloster either. So sad for both of us.
this car grows on me more and more each day
"Big turbo" upgraded turbo wouldve been a better title.
Welp, I'm sold, time to schedule a test drive and start saving!
Finally someone is showing off and doing veloster n stuff
I dont know why im looking at a review when i already own a Veloster N. lmao, its just so amazing i love my car
conformation bias probably? We all do this at some point
The Veloster is my DREAM car, such a awesome car
a very attainable one, at that
I've had mine for a year and a half and absolutely love it. I get compliments on it daily. People will even roll their windows down and talk to me about it in traffic. It is sooooo much fun to drive!
Amazing video i really need this pure turbos upgrade 😍! I love my N but the turbo is holding it back! Once again thank you for making this video!
Yeah those new Veloster N's look extremely clean. It's cool seeing car companies figure it out. Toyota has come around with their new Camry, Corolla Hatch and Supra as well.
Such a great looking Hatchback! We need more hot hatches in the U.S. I'm still waiting on Nissan to bring back the Pulsar lol
Nissan does sell the Pulsar in other markets, but not in a hot hatch form
Ugh don’t pull my heart strings! They need it back in full form like the old one!!
I've never been into Kia or Hyundai, but they've been doing really good as of late. My mother has a 2012 Kia Optima 2.0t and i already know that she has no clue how capable that car is. I've raced plenty of equivalent category cars and won quite a few
This car is making me want to trade in my focus st
Do it
Do it
Do It

What I don't understand is how people will still dismiss this car as "it's just a hyundai"
How do you expect a company to get better if you just dismiss it because of the name that's on it? This is how companies become great!
I came from an Infiniti G37X, and I never thought I would enjoy a Hyundai more than my G, but the 2nd gens are on another level. These are the cars that will become cult classics some day when Hyundai's name will be up there with the all time greats.
Their Rally team has been doing insane things, and they're more race oriented than a lot of modern companies these days. I feel like Kia/Hyundai are going to accomplish great things in the near future, and they're already well on that path.
2:49 “price gauge” LOL EDIT: 6:05 “wind buffering” LOL. This is some good bone apple tea
I hate that it took me several minutes to remember the actual phrase he meant for "price gauge" lol
Within the last few years I’ve hopped on the Hyundai/genesis train and I love it!!
I’m really surprised David didn’t even mention the Golf GTI. It is literally the poster child for the hot hatch segment. The Veloster N is in the same price range of the GTI.
Exactly
Sure it’s a decent car but why would he mention it? The video is about the Veloster N.
I think if hyundai keeps making cars like this, they're gonna be the next great classics
Got to meet this man at IFO and it was a hell of a ride. Made me happy to be a fan of these things for all these years.
I work at Hyundai and have owned a lot of fun cool cars but this car puts a bigger smile on my face than any other cards I’ve ever owned. The car has an ALS system. It really feels like a lil rally car.
The crackles and pops are one of the things I love the most about this car I want one so bad
I was wondering if you would ever get the chance to review one of these. And you came through! I own one of these. Very fun cars!
I love the veloster! It's like the 1 modern car that I think they nailed the styling pretty well. Every other cheap sports car is just eh with design.
Glad to see someone giving the Veloster love! I love mine ! Sxth Element is great . I saw that car when they were doing my car (no headlights) and I have to say those headlights are sick 🔥
You have to review the new N with the dct then it comes here. Seats look so much better too
The Veloster N truly encompasses a fun hot hatch
I actually want this car now ... lol
Dude has his N done up real nice. I own a Gen 1 VT and it has mad torque steer haha. The N is super cool though and definitely fills a void like you mentioned. The only thing I don't like about them is the stick on infotainment screen!
I love this car its an amazing looking and performs well , I need to finish my turbo build on my tiburon so I can get you to review it . Or get my buddy to finish his turbo tiburon and get you to review it
I work at a Hyundai dealership and i can safely say, they have a lot of the car market wrapped around their finger because of the affordability and how luxury they feel
This dude has window tint that is only good to drive from 9am to 6pm 😂
I've really been wanting to upgrade from my VT to an N. Despite you not being a fan of the Tiburon, that was the car that got me liking Hyundai. Wasn't the fastest or smoothest ride, but with a few minor upgrades, it was really a fun car, and I've never had a car start so reliably in the cold. When it was -20° out and nobody's cars starting, the Tibby would always pop right off. Props to Hyundai for coming so far with their reliability.
Man, you’re living my dream.
That car looks so good with the cf pieces and sounds godly
Maaan somebody dumped a buttload of cash into that car
I was a salesman for Hyundai/Genesis for about a year. And No bias, still to this day I want to purchase a G70 3.3T. Needless to say their G80 and G90 are equally impressive and this here veloster N is a true driver oriented blast! Drove our showroom N and the cracks and pops were hella addicting! Haha
Haven’t even watched it yet but liked because I own a 2020 Veloster N
He got lucky and bought an exhaust on ebay for like
2:50 “price gauge”
Did you mean to say “price gouge” or is this a term I’ve not heard of before?
I said the same thing when I heard him say gauge.. it's gouge.
Lol same. lil Patterson mis-speak❤️
It’s as gauge you can buy to install next to your boost gauge. It tells you how many smiles per dollars you are making.
the carbon fibre hood with the black painted fender looks so badass and aggressive with this car! Not to mentiion the splitter and the wheels.. Perfect setup. Dream car
