So what are the plans for the little scooter you can see behind the non-running 650? Chopper? 60's mods and rockers style? Paint it black and flames? GSXr front end and stretched swingarm drag bike ? The internet wants to know. :)
So stock says around 11.25 inches and I went to 11 and 7/8 and that gave me 4inches+ of lowering Safely you should be between 11.5 and 11.75inches to get 2inches
@@rev7garage I've lowered the bike 3 inches now, thanks for your feedback! How is it possible that they can drop 5 to 6 inches with air ride and still ride it at such a low setting without hitting the tire?
I have a question for you On the road star 1600 the handlebar risers I know if I wanna take it out there is a bolt on the bottom I have to unscrew it It should come out but mine doesn’t is there something I’m forgetting mine is just stuck in there and I already took off the bottom bolt
There stuck! I have had numerous vstar risers like this too. I still have a set stuck on a top triple that I now use for my handlebar mock ups. Other ones I’ve had luck with “deep creep” which is like an anti-seize. Also one set I left in diesel fuel, then put the triple in my vice, used a piece of scrap 1Inch OD tube, clamped in 1 of the risers and the tube was leverage to pry it off
Geeze, going to drag that frame in every speed bump, pot hole or sharp dips.. I have that issue and going to remove the shock assembly to figure out how the shop did it for the previous owner.
The owner of the 1600 is coming into his second season with no issues so far. We maxed out the preload and hasn’t had an issue with scraping. We modified the exhaust as well to turning right wasn’t an issue either. I’m going to assume the people who modified yours adjusted the length of the dog bones as well. It’s really the only way to lower these bikes
@@rev7garage yes, I pulled my shock assembly out last night, has better after market shock, and the dog bones are aftermarket, about 11. 65 inches, so I need to replace them.. I'm only 140lb wet, and dragging way too easily!
That’s really weird The owner of that bike is probably just as heavy as me 185lbs and we tried to get it to scrub and couldn’t. Now in saying that, a big enough pot hole still may allow that to happen, but we ride together quite a bit I may have stock ones around if ur looking
can you really feel the difference in weight when riding a raodstar vs a vstar? i now ride a magna. im thinking of getting a roadstar, but im having a second thought because it looks too heavy
Had to watch the video again lol When I say “this is where we’re sitting” I’m referring to “this is where we are in the project so far” Only issue we ran into when finished is the brackets he had for the hard bags hit the belt cover. So we trimmed them and it solved the issue
I have a 2001 road star 1600. Any way I could talk you into building me a tall sissy bar and shipping it to me? If interested just hit me back with a price. Thanks
good job on the lowering and bars, looks clean
Appreciate it! Gave the bike a whole new look
that black one with ram air scoop looks like my old 2011 650 i had nice
Had a lot of fun on that little 650

The internet must patiently wait lmao. I have an idea in my head. It will be original colours tho... beyond that, skys the limit
Kool! that lowered road star has the look!, did you hafts adjust the belt at all after slamming it?
No adjustment needed. Still riding to this day like this. It’s a buddy of mine
Nice job!!! I want to lower the bike 2 inches. How much should I extend it?

@@rev7garage i am working on it at this moment . What is 11 7/8 to cm 🙈
And is 4 inch the max for lowering without problems?
@@remiarts1230 around 30.15cm if my math is right
@@remiarts1230 and any lower you will run into fender clearance issues under load even with the preload maxed out

maybe i haven't watched long enough, but at this point I am wondering why you didn't grind those welds flat on the bones
In this case we left them as there hidden
I tig weld these now

who taught you how to do these things and how do you get started
Trial and error! You guys only see the stuff that works lol
please make an update on the road star!
For sure! It’s a close buddies bike. I’ll do another video with an update on it. I think he was painting it last time I heard
Well I didn’t paint it yet but the riding season is almost done so if you have some ideas you want to try you can have it to play with lol.
Nice looks good 😎👍🏾
Thank you 🙏
Exciting!
This was just a customer bike
New bobber build I’m starting this weekend

Heavy yes! But balanced really well. Especially with how low it is
Did lowering that much bring any issues? I'm about to do the same
Just the hardbag bracket hit the belt drive cover ever so slightly under full load. Some trimming solved that issue
@@rev7garage OK thanks for the reply
Also I'm confused you say alright guys this is where we are sitting but you clearly haven't put the dog bones back in so how do you know?

Did you need to upgrade cables for that size bars?
No, I was able to re route the stock cables to work properly
Cool man thanks for the info, build is looking good by the way
Much appreciated

+1.6 CM?
Sorry what exactly are you referring to?
Is that a get-back whip on your roadstar 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
