    • @manuelm5664
      @manuelm5664 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@glorytvtv9538 you get fat if you eat meals just before bedtime. That's because the body is in resting state, it has no chance to burn up the food thus, food is stored for later use--this is how we gain weight.

    • @manuelm5664
      @manuelm5664 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes, rice helps with glucose management. Many years ago, I tried to eat less rice hoping to keep weight down--not good!
      I felt light-headed a lot and tired, sometimes I thought I would pass out.
      After I resumed eating rice, my energy levels returned to normal.

    • @Abc-cp8me
      @Abc-cp8me 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@manuelm5664 this is wrong. You gain weight on a calorie surplus. Doesn't matter when you eat your food as long as you eat less than the calories you need to maintain your weight you will lose. I'm currently adding more calories during my dinners to avoid waking up hungry in the middle of the night and have better sleep and still im losing weight. It's because I am at a calorie deficit.
      That being said rice in itself doesn't make you fat - eating too much rice makes you fat. I usually portion my rice to half a cup per meal and I just add finely chopped cauliflower to it and I have a bowl of rice.....that's 90% cauliflower. It's way lower in calories than getting another serving of rice. Portion control really is key

    as someone who lives in an asian household, rice will always be in our meals. before this video i used to think that we shouldn't eat rice with our meals all the time, but hearing from a fit person like you who consumes them on a daily basis bc it fuels you up even more with energy, i changed my mind. i'm now glad to be eating rice (in controlled portion, of course) with my meals!

    Thank you, Joanna! I grew up eating rice as the basis of a balanced meal as well. As I got older, I ate other carbs to lessen or eliminate my rice intake but like you said, I never really felt full after the meal and came back to eating rice again. I eat no more than half a cup, 1 cup of green leafy vegetables and a palm size lean protein for lunch and dinner. My breakfast is similar to yours -- multigrain toast with almond butter, 1 tsp homemade jam (very low sugar) and 1/4 size banana. No eggs. This takes me 4-5 hours of fullness without snacking. I probably should add an egg for good measure.

    hey u were the one who said not to pair protien with startch in the previous vedio as far as i know rice is starch and fish is protien and i was a bit worried the other day as i was eating rice and protien everyday and only sometimes feel bloated , but now am happy knowing that am not eating completely the wrong way and yes actually rice gives alot of enery and keeps us full for a longer period of time and really helps us from over eating as we workout a lot we feel hungry and eating rice really helps keep us full and energised and prevent from overeating ...!! and thank u so much for sharing the knowledge and helping us .

    I am so happy you are speaking out about consuming rice. I used to be very anti/rice only because there was so much noise about it being bad. I love Jasmine and Basmati rice. Brown rice didn’t agree with me either.
    But look at Eastern cultures! In general they do not have a weight problem (like in Western cultures) and rice is a staple in their cuisine. I too have noticed feeling satisfied a lot longer and meals last longer when rice is added. Yay rice! 🍚

    • @joannasohofficial
      @joannasohofficial  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      🤗🤗🤗 Yes, I think people just label a food bad without looking at the context. If we consume a large amount of rice, potatoes or anything, of course that will lead to weight gain. But if you look at the East Asian people who eats rice every day, they are overweight. It’s about finding the balance 😊

    Very good explanation for those some people who are zero in diet info,who are never gain weight or never experienced become fat,who are never exercise/workouts but still want to teach us about don't eat rice but just eat regular bread,what?? Those some annoying friends insist us to just eat bread because we are fat , so ridiculous and very annoyed . Nasi tak bersalah, yang Salah tu makan gulai,dgn sambal,tapi malas makan sayur Dan buah, .rice far more better but take in moderation, rice better than bread because bread itself contains sugar,soda bicarbonate,yeast,salt,.
    My family already slowly change from regular white bread,to wholemeal bread, now we found a brown hard bread with chia seed and sunflower seeds, very satisfying. I'm skinny girl, unhealthy thin,non ideal weight who turned to overweight lady after giving birth, after my baby grow up,her mom also became obesity mom but now I'm in overweight back. I need to lose 10kg weights. I'm started over again ,try to eat clean back, and looking for suitable exercises for Asian woman.

      @@nabila660 not op, and idk from what part of middle east they're from, but I'm from the gulf region. My family typically eats white toast (sometimes irani bread) with cream cheese, hallomi, olives, jam, and soft boiled eggs. If we get out of bed early, then we'd buy either ash (a blend of lentils+ onions+ chickpeas+ black eyed beans with variety of spices), boiled chickpeas or boiled broad beans. As for drinks, milk tea.
      Edit: forgot to mention lunch lol
      Typical lunch staples include machboos, maaqlobah, sabzi, mutabag (fish), biryani, meat maraq, lentil soup... Too lazy to write the ingredients lol

    3 meals a day and almost all of it with rice. Just have modest portions.
