  • Released in 1986 on The Calls 4th album "Reconciled". The Call is one of the most underated bands of the 1980s if not in history.
I have no rights to this song or video. This is purely for entertainment purposes.

I was in a local band in the Philly area called Hidden Faces. One of my best memories was opening for The Call at the 23 East Cabaret in Ardmore on November 2, 1990

My sister and I saw the call is Southern California probably 20 years ago now. Small venue, great show and after the show, Michael came up to the bar and had a drink with us and he was so nice, friendly, genuine, and funny. I’m 67 now and will not and have not ever forgotten that evening

Micheal Been was the greatest writer, singer, musician. I made friends with him and Dan Shields his manager that was with U2. Such great people! So sad Micheal has left us. Such a great talent and so inspired the religion that I love. His music is timeless and his message for ever. Hope you have met St. Peter Michael, God and all the Angels, Bless you my friend 🙏❤️

Saw them in unknown club 1987 downtown Houston, TX. 80 people there including bar staff. The CALL rocked the house for 2hrs. The place went nuts and was filled with charged vibes from this pulsing rock and roll, great band, sorely missed in today's music mush. Oh, did I say GREAT BAND.

You don't have to believe in a God to believe in a power. The songs The Call created inspired a belief in something, a power, an energy. Each of us has to figure it out for ourselves. What a vocal powerhouse!

This song's driving bass line and haunting melody was playing inside my head, for almost 29 years. However, I not heard it since being played on KROQ-FM and College Radio, in 1987. I had no idea(or forgot) who wrote this....until I got Shazam to ID them finally playing on my radio yesterday! The Call rightfully deserved REM's absurd successes, as they were true pioneers of Politically-charged, Alternative Rock. Way under-rated....RIP Michael Been.

Mind boggling that they didn't take off. It's not as if they had one good song or even album and were done. They were consistently good for several albums. The music fit with the times but was unique in it's own way. I always wonder if the religiosity was the issue but it's not like they pushed it in any way.

The reason why the call and so many other groups were underrated because back in the 80.s music was divided into categories unfortunately bands like the call were considered underground alternative but thanks to MTV groups like the call the alarm or Rem got crossover success

In Belgium we only knew the song "I still believe". Bought a couple of CDs if them in the meanwhile, they are one of my favorite bands now. To bad they didn't get the credit they deserved.

Bought "Reconciled" on vinyl in 1986, somehow forgot about it and just recently started playing and recording my vinyl after a 28 year hiatus.. Played "Reconciled" and now I'm on a buying binge of The Call. Did they have any weak tracks? Haven't found one yet..
    RIP Michael Been.

A great band from the 80s with very little airplay but beats the sh*t out of every band out today.

One of the best concerts I've ever been to was when The Call came to a little coffee shop in my town, probably ten years ago. Small set, nothing flashy, but primo musicianship!

This is such a great song that never gets old. I seen these guys in San Diego back in 80's. I was a hard rocker playing guitar in a band like Metallica and I still loved this band.

    June 1986.
This track would just boom out of the speakers and fill my dance floor.
Courtesy of the great production of Been and Eaton and Tom Skinner's mastering.
    Big hit for me.

Hey Jobuneedsarefill01 - agree - The Call is an amazing band. Not nearly as high on the 80s radar as they deserve. The nice thing about youtube is that it offers great bands from back in the day exposure to new generations of music fans. Thanks for posting!

It is true that this song should have been a smash hit pouring out of every car speaker all across America. The fact that it wasn't just demonstrates how what is a hit and what is not many times has very little to do with the quality of the music, but probably more in a label's promotion of the music.

I was lucky enough to see these guys live at the Catalyst dwntwn Santa Cruz way back in 1986-87 Hometown Favorites. R.I.P Michael, thank you for the Great Music and part of the soundtrack of my life. Severely underrated band of the Greatest Decade in my simple life 1980's. Class of '85 Amador High. P-Twn.

Wow, is it only me or does this song encompass some bad ass rock, a little rockabilly, and some kick ass alternative music? These guys are tuned into some kind of rock ley line which fires up the mind and echoes through the soul. Truly sad Mr. Been is no longer with us. I do hope his son steps up and proves that there is life after death. Whatever year it came out, these boys are truly classic.
