- Released in 1989 on The Calls "Let The Day Begin" album. The Call is one of the most underated bands of the 1980s if not in history.
I have no rights to this song or video. This is purely for entertainment purposes.
If you can't get up for this song, you can't get up.
This song should be re-released....way ahead of it's time
I still get chills when I hear this song. Sheer genius. R.I.P. Michael.
some songs transcend the decades they came from. This is one of those songs.
One of my favorite songs of all time. It's a great song to listen to when you've gotten up too early for work and are driving to the office, almost as good as a cup of coffee!
Praise to the Lord for giving us Michael Been and The Call even if it was for too short a time. Rest in peace Michael and thank you.
I agree-undoubtedly one of the most underated bands of the 1980's. This was one of my favorite songs as a teenager. Thanks for posting this nugget of forgotten gold.
Here's to Michael and The Call. Bless you Michael and RIP.
I can't agree with you more. Michael had a wonderful voice, and his songs were just superb. I fell in love with The Call when I heard this song on the radio back in '89. Of course, I had to get this CD. I'm so sorry that Michael passed away so young. His passing was a great loss both for his family and for the world of music. RIP Michael.
This song sends chills up my spine.
Here's to you my beloved 80's!
Very inspirational. I loved this song the very first time I heard it.
Like to thank the team I belonged to for letting me play this music way back in the 80's and surprisingly the people who recognized the band. This song still can play in the 21st century!
This song is perfect. There are few as good and none better.
I agree. An outstanding song; one for the ages. RIP Michael Been.
Always loved this song!! Great!!!! Wish we could hear it every morning on the radio to start the day with....
I am extremely torn between picking this song number 1 or number 2 on my all time list. You'll never guess the other song, but we'll save that for another posting. The piano is 'KILLER', and makes this song. (By the way, this is my first posting.) Anyway, I've been a fan of the CALL since I first heard this song, or "The Walls Came Down". Whichever came first. LOL Loved the late Eighties, early Nineties. And I will end with "Heres to the wall that bears their names".
This is a fabulous blast from the past. A truly underrated and beautiful song. Thanks for posting.
I love them...music still holds up.
100% agreed, the Call in such an underated band, I share them w/ as many as I can to enjoy their mastery!
A brilliant band for sure. I loved their music and still do today.
here's to U!!! thank U for posting....i listened to this song,on vinyl, over and over and over and could never listen to it too much...it still lifts my spririt!!!!!!!
Absolutely fantastic song.
What an inspiring song
Being someone who has worked many early mornings this one of my favorite songs.
1st and blessed by the vision and the lyrics and faith of Michael Been. Check out all of the Call and Michael's solo music! God bless all. Thank you for uploading this treasure.
I absolutely agree with you on that. I first heard them on the radio with this song. After I heard it , I went out and bought the CD. When I heard the last song on that CD, Uncovered, that one just blew me away. It ranks right up there with the greatest songs ever written. We lost Michael, as we did alot of others, way too soon. RIP Michael. I'll be having the pleasure of meeting you in a few years.
Very beautiful song. Have always loved it.
Absolute GOLD from the Call. Love it !
A tune that's right up there with Fanfare For the Common Man (Aaron Copland). A great tune by a marvelous band.
definitely in the top ten of any list, along with 'the walls came came down'. I listen to it over and over again. truly, a song for the ages. "here's to the wall that bears their name". Michael, you did make an impression; and the piano is 'killer'. LOL
Fabulous lyrics.... a wonder for all!
Such an amazing song, ahead of its time!
i miss music like this
This is quite a Walt Whitmanesque song. Probably the most famous of this kind.
Here's to the musicians from every walk of life...
Brillant! The music and lyrics ......... perfection
1 person's day should not begin ( at least not happily) How could anyone dislike this awesome tune?

I absolutely agree with you on that. I first heard them on the radio with this song. After I heard it , I went out and bought the CD. When I heard the last song on that CD, Uncovered, that one just blew me away. It ranks right up there with the greatest songs ever written. We lost Michael, as we did alot of others, way too soon. I agree, one of the most under-rated bands of the 80's.
Awesome song..
Always loved this song and great to hear Black Rebel Motorcycle Club's amazing cover of it :)
BEAR IN THE WOODS! I do love their work! Great 80's reality sound!
it's Robert Been's father - Michael Been (not sure if I'd call it a cover as much as a homage to his Dad...
this is priceless.. thanks for sharing....
Michael Bean is to music, as Roberto Clemente is to baseball; and anyone whoever saw Roberto play , knows exactly what I mean. Never before, never since.

Definitely one of the better bands of this era. The U.S. version of New Model Army. Band with tons of talent that came out the same time the commercial sell-outs did.

here's to the teachers in the croweded rooms? I grew up and went to college they packed us in up 100's in an auditorium where they had plays for money. Today they can have them filmed and put on youtube where a student can catch the lesson on youtube. and watch till their hearts delight.
Still can't believe Michael has left us.. sorry
Really miss the "BSG" version of this song that used to be on TH-cam....
