Usyk is just such a high level technical fighter, there's so much going on in his fighting. His ability to problem solve, test, bait and adapt on the fly is astonishing. All the while, he piles on constant pressure, sticking to you like shit on bedsheets. Once he has you figured out, he puts his foot on the gas and pushing up an already exhausting pace. Genius.
Not knowing where the strikes are coming from and being caught completely out of position, must drive someone like Fury insane. He's never been shown up like that.
That boxing IQ is what he gained from the 350 amateur fights he had, boxing became like breathing to him. Exactly like the greatest jazz musicians, they don't need to think about musical theory when they play anymore, they can just go by feel because it's all been repeated countless of times. Usyk is the John Coltrane of boxing.
I recommend everyone to watch the Wallin/Fury fight. Unfortunately that fight has been wrongly assessed. Fury got cut because Wallin hit him hard in 3rd round and that power punch was not just a lucky one but was followed up by many more which was a part of Wallin's game plan. As for Fury's cut, he could see well enough all the time and throw punches to Wallin's body and his well guarded head, all of which Wallin took without being too hurt and he could therefore keep on counterpunching and had in fact Fury on the hook in the 12th round. Wallin was sometimes like Usyk in his fight with Fury.
Humanity blows my mind sometimes. The fact that Usyk can think this way in the heat of a devastating fight is incredible to me. There should be a Nobel Prize for boxing genius.
No. I mean, I get what you mean. There is a lot of chess going on in top-level boxing. But no. Let alone the amount of brainwork one has to do to get a Nobel Prize (aside from the one for peace of course), the actual prize money would be a fraction of Usyk and Fury makes from just this one fight. They absolutely don't need it.
@@TheVampB Usyk solves equations while he trains, same with Loma. Their IQ in general is extremely high, not just their boxing IQ. It's a terrible shame we lost 2 of Usyk's best years when he first moved up to heavyweight. Unfortunately for Oleksander, Fury had a stranglehold on the division and he kept delaying this fight for two years.

What people are missing in those rounds 4, 5and 6 is that Usyk's gameplan was to wear Fury down. Usyk was losing those rounds but he was making Fury work at an unsustainable pace. By round 7 you can see Fury's footwork slowing down and his hands dropping. Usyk executed a top level gameplan which worked 100%, he had to go through adversity to get there but he did it.
Opposite. Frazier vs Ali 1. Usyk is Frazier. The smaller guy, coming forward, front foot pressing the action. Admittedly Usyk is more technical but the parallels are obvious.
It only works because he has a superb boxing brain, crazy speed, wondrous ringcraft and can take a punch. Watching this has made me think of two guys playing pool but only one of them is allowed to use the reach. And it didn't matter!
Yeah I agree. The commentators on sky were saying after round 7 "another good round for Fury but Usky is making him work really hard" He knew fury can't do his good work between rounds 3-7 for the whole 12 rounds
Exactly! His coach literally told him to move pass to bait Fury into feeling confident enough to go into ofence. In round three Usyk gradually was decreasing the pase while staying in controll. Fury has not yet commited to ofence and was fighting carefull. In round 4 a similar story. Furry not commit to ofence while Usyk was machiny him in punches round 3 and 4 both guys had the same amount of power punches landed. Usyk was landing arguably the better punches. But Fury bein able to hit Usyk assumed he was getting tired ans in round 5 -6 commited to ofence 100%. After tound 6 Usyks corner tells him: He is tired ramp up the pace and go ibto ofence. Usyk again does nit fo it sreight away making sure Furys stamina has deteriorated. By the second half of round 7 usy he rampa up the pace and notices Fury cannot mach it. Usyk won round 7 and dominated rounds 8-12.all in all he won roujds 1-2, landing more power punches and rounds 3-4 were close but can be given to Fury. All in all Fury convincigly won 2 rounds which Usyk was not trying to win.
Beautiful analysis 👌 usyk it's the goat of boxing, his skills are on an other level, his foot work, head movement is iq in the ring. Truly the best boxer of this generation
To put it in perspective of size and weight difference. this was like a world Weltereight Champion facing a world Light Heavyweight Champion: 40lbs weight difference/ 6'' in height/ around 8'' in reach add to that the guy is 37 years old. Just an incredible fighter Usyk bar none. Unless Terence Crawford takes on, and beats, Beterbiev or Bivol you can't call anyone else the greatest at the moment.

Love the work bro
I scored that fight 111 -116 for Usyk. Gave Usyk the 1st 2 rds, Fury rds 3-6, and Usyk rds 7-12. I can see how some of those rounds could've went to Fury but not enough to change the outcome. Going in I figured Fury would probably win, but Usyk was all over Fury that entire fight, and he score a knockdown.
Usyk is a real cerebral assasin. Excellent analysis. ✅🥊🎯
Good work here Luke. Thank you.
