I have never seen a fighter this talented, a COMPLETE boxer that makes other world champions appear like amateurs.
The only thing close was maybe Lomacenko but he never really had that fight ending power ready to execute at any moment. I thought something similar to your post watching the Donaire rematch. I have just never seen that level of skill and power. Even if he is beatable, his offensive arsenal seems like something we haven't seen before

@@chrisbirch4150 That's almost exactly my thought cause I do believe there are a lot of similarity between Loma and Inoue in terms of techniques: balance, position, change of rhythm etc. Plus they both like to do a bit of showboating to please the crowd. For me Inoue is like a smaller version of Loma but with more devastating punching power.

It makes this win so much better to see Inoue face a bit of adversity. It proves his Grit & composure. Alongside high level fight IQ & adaptability. This one meant a lot to the people of Japan. For him to face that moment in the 1st rnd and not get wavered is beyond impressive. We just saw Devin Haney face adversity for example and he was Not able to handle it or find any tools or tactics to overcome it. This just shows how uniquely talented Inoue is. Can't wait to continue to see where his future goes from here. He really has been mastering his own biomechanics. It's insane. He's fought so many championship fights too. I'm seeing a lot of People online commenting who seem to really not understand that...
He fought almost a whole fight against Doniere with a broken eye socket, half blind and won. Showed plenty of grit there.

One of the best balanced/foot work boxers I've ever seen. Dropped in the first, recalculated and never looked in trouble again. Been World champ in 4 weight divisions. Light flyweight, fly weight, bantam weight and super bantam weight. Finished a fight with a broken eye socket and nose he got in Rd 2 of 12 against Donaire which Inoue won on points by UD. Plenty of ticker.

Im always amazed at how Inoue generates so much explosive power in those short shots. His weight transfer and overall biomechanics must be so perfect. Hes just leaping those punches into you. This might sound weird but can you imagine if Inoue had a freak loss? Because I imagine him being twice as good as he is now if that ever happens if you know what I mean because I don’t care about a loss like most of the weird fans but I just think he would get so much better if he ever did Is all, and that’s freaking scary to think about!

That short left hook is lethal. It doesn't even look powerful.
When he is firing it doesnt look all that much. But when you watch the slowmo of the impact on Nery's face, water flying off, eyes going to space, you can see how brutal it is.

Most of Inoue's I-caress-your-face-&-you-go-down are largely from only a few inches away. That's what most analysts are raving about. Any top fighter could drop another one --- like what Nery did do to Inoue at the openning of their first round ---- if they could do one of those powerful swings that both Tapales and Nery are known for...
But, again, it is when you could easily drop your opponents from caressing their chin from literally just inches away, with only technique and torch... that's why even other elite fighters and analysts alike go oooh and ahhhhh

Simply put, Inoue Naoya's Ring IQ, Skills, Balance, Footwork, Timing, boxing intelligence, Power are simply on a whole other level. Great work on this stupendous Video. Just out of interest, don't know if you caught it but in the first minute of the 5th round, Inoue's Footwork being so great that you can actually see Nery intentionally trying to trip up the Monsters feet 😂
Thanks for your excellent analysis of the Inoue's movement. I'm Japanese, and in Japan, although I see a lot of compliments to his winning despite his first getting knocked down, I've never seen such a convincing and precise explanation of Inoue's boxing techniques in detail.

It is deffinatly noteworthy that Nery was able to drop Inoue but all that came after that was a demonstration of boxing supremacy. And although the frase gets used a lot, Nery looked like he did not belong. What stood out to me the most is Inoue's economy and the fact that even the drop didn't give him any pause. To me Naoya Inoue is the current P4P, closley followd by Bud Crawford.

True,, most boxer after a drop they usually more of a defensive mode or survival mode .. Naoya didn’t have any of it as if it didn’t happen like he was still fresh and fought fresh throughout.

Nery was dangerous in the early rounds. Hes a good fighter. But Inoue showed who was the boss.
The first knockdown, most boxers use the right and throw across their body because that is where their power is. Inoue carries dynamite in both hands and puts people down with both. He's really special
If Inoue wanted to fight like Mayweather he could.... but he's a "Monster" and isn't content with cruising to a points win based on defence first. He takes risks to get his opponent out early... and if you take risks, you may get caught. But taking risks is what makes him "appointment viewing", and what has lead to a 90%+ knockout rate, which is crazy for his weight class.
Inoue said in a Japanese interview he can win fights without getting hit if he chose to fight defensive but chooses to take some risks to entertain the crowd lol amazing
Inoue fully understands that boxing is ultimately a business that depends on the audience, and he expresses that just winning is not enough.

Lol. No he's not. Usyk, Loma, and Bivol are all more skilled than him right now, he's just naturally gifted with speed and power. As he moves up in weight his natural abilities will stop being so effective, and he'll start to seem more average because his skills are not "the best in history."

Always balanced ready to punch. That's one of his major assets. He's one of those rare boxers who punches straight from the shoulder with no windup but with torque and power. He punches through his opponent, not just at him. In the fight with Rodriguez, his punches were thrown with incredible velocity landing like a rocket hitting its target. He's a pleasure to watch.

Inoue ability to produce power is due to his positioning,his hip and shoulder rotation and his athletic but powerful body.
To me he is so far the best boxer of all generation.
He breaks down his competitors,always balanced,varies his timing,and accordingly uses the right punch combinations.
And his eyesight is tremendoes,keeps focus and always looks to attack or counter or counter to counter.

Make it seem more complicated than it actually is. His skills are just on another level right now. Speed, power, accuracy, timing, etc. It's years of training, dedication to the sport he loves, no partying, just all business. He's an old school generational fighter that all fans should appreciate.

Naoya is a once-in-a-generation boxing prodigy who is way too fast, and precise and has exceptional natural power in both hands.
Nery is a good boxer but not at the level of Inoue.
Naoya will stop Nery on or before the 6th round.
Nery will make the (ego) mistake to try and dictate the pace not realizing that Naoya is setting him up... a harrowing painful experience for Nery but it will be quick!

Excellent breakdown of Naoya's masterful techniques.
Naoya has practiced (sparring) these maneuvers that he is so confident in creating confusion (getting the opponent to question which is not a good thing). Naoya knows exactly what the opponent's reaction will be, and by this time it is too late for the opponent.
The only other observation is the common mistake that fighters make: They drop the opposite hand of the one that they're hitting with. To Nery's credit, this is how he was able to knock down Naoya. Naoya threw a left uppercut and missed, Nery instinctively took his lead foot to the outside and let the hook fly catching Naoya.
This is the same thing that Crawford did to Spence for dropping his hand.

Really, really enjoyed this video. What I really like about this fight is that Inoue showed even the greatest ones make a mistake and the way he handled it. He admitted in an interview held the day after the match that he was overexcited and stiff in the first round but also said that he regularly simulates what to do when he's knocked down, like waiting until count 8 to get up even if he's not that hurt, and it certainly paid off.
When you put together all of Inoue’s techniques and strategies together, it makes his opponents feel like he can read their minds and he is always several steps ahead at any given time.
That's why I'm in no way hating on Inoue when i say; I'd love to see the fantasy fight v crawford in heaven. Couple true tactical sun tzu's swinging in the ring.

Perfect, virtual reality, matrix type ish, where they feel exactly their best, sharpest, and a few size tweaks to fit a belt... if i were a billionaire I'd be investing in the tech to make it happen, lol.
But; yeah, retired exhibition, I'd still want to watch that, even if i could get the dream fantasy fight. I don't care what anyone says, i loved that they did RJJ vs Iron Mike. It had no bearing on their storied careers, for me, but it let you get a glimpse of an idea, how would they have approached it, or responded. Counter king vs the killroy peekaboo.
Also, i don't often like seeing fighters in real bouts at over fifty, the risks involved, the change in healing but; older fighters demonstrating what they're still capable of/how they look at the sciences sweet problems different as the body ages, is interesting and inspiring in its own right.
Folk were clowning on Roy, for not staying as fit as Mike...whole lotta factors their, and a little late now to try and turn the clock back. Tyson always got to much credit for power, and not enough for dedicated training to form, and, at least these days, insightful ring iq. RJJ, up against 95 of 100 brawlers, not saying talented amateurs of the art, anywhere within 50 lbs, is still liable to learn about "levels in it".
Already probably on a "tldr" rant but, back to Naoya v Crawford; i love Inoue, he's a peak talent in a generation that may be more chock full than the early 90s. Bud may, imho, be the best boxer since Robinson. He's got skill, he grew up in a lab coat, ring iq, all of it. The instincts tho, the flow, like he was born for it, and don't feel right till risk is a razor's edge between win or lose, and time slows down like cold molasses. I know, "im glazing him", but he keeps doing it, proving that no one else can handle the pressure of waters as deep as him. Probably some American nepotism here, but when i draw up my personal pound fer pound, it's Bud #1, Naoya #2, and a little space before a bronze spot that's still being contested. Tank, Canelo, Loma(i know I'll get shade there, but I'd stick to it), Bivol; when i try to suss out #3 i wind up watching a bunch of fights, overanalyzing, and then shrugging. Too close, cant tell.
And he gets stronger with every round ..absolutely insane talent💯
That left hook KD in the 2nd round is so beautiful. Dude reflexes and power is elite in all combat sports. Also he fight to entertain like the great Pac-Man, meaning he is coming to knock your ass out, no need to dance or run around.
inoue is not only a boxer he also mixed it up with karate which is why he has great footwork and distance management. he is not loading the punches, he smoothly punches and has heavy hands. his timing, and ability to see and interrupt his opponent's rhythm is a masterclass!!!
Been watching this phenomenon for several years now as he cuts through his opponents like a razor sharp scythe. Fantastic analysis Luke. You have given me new dimensions with which to appreciate my favorite boxer ever.
Scary power while standing - he didn't even pull back his arm to put power into his punch. His hip rotation and body torque is so frightful and clicks so well it's like a whip to the head.

@alsetalokin88 not a paid actor. He was still trying to attack Inoue in earnest when Inoue landed that 4 inch punch. Nery's left knee collapsed and folded up. That's neurological overload and shutdown. Can't fake that.

inoue was way too excited before this fight, biggest crowd he ever had, his promise to his countrymen, and he got caught when he was off balance. but that knock down settled him down, he started to read and broke down his target and then finished him.
what matters is how they respond, and Naoya did it masterfully.

He's weaknesses have been shown as of recently. Some one heavier could give him problems. Especially if he is not in Japan.
After he got droped he showed a lot of skill to survive the first round, just crazy how phenomenal this man is. And dude with guitare was special as well

He is a fighter with the best basic boxing skills in the history of boxing. It's something he's honed since he was a child. His purity as a boxer is amazing.
That's just not true. Lol. Loma, Usyk, and Bivol are all better than him. He's just extremely powerful and fast amongst the small guys he's fighting, but when he moves up in weight and his power stops being so effective, and he has to rely on skill more, he won't be as effective as Loma, because his skills are not as good. He's heavily reliant on his power and speed.
Yes agree. His basic boxing is lvl1000/10. And Then we saw his opponent .they mostly "big upper body" but have skinny legs. His basic boxing is great its generated from his leg .and his power has generate from leg too. His has not traine only punch technique and foot work . His trainer help him build strong leg .his weight isnt only from upper body . people think about how to throw deadly punch by punch heavy bag. That is not true

Bivol is a 1 weight champ, Usyk is a 2 weight champ who was undisputed at Cruiser and unified heavyweight and Bud is a 3 weight champ undisputed in 2 weights like Inoue, only with less divisions than Inoue
Thank you for all the comments. I'm not talking about class or punching power. I would like to say how much he has worked hard since he was a child. Every punch and every footwork is beautiful. I can see the effort. I think it can be called the perfect form of a boxer.
His background as a boxer was not brought up in an environment of violence, fights, or evil. I have been honing my thoughts and techniques purely to become stronger. You can see that even with just one jab. His purity as a boxer is different. It's not something that can be expressed as genius or good sense. It's like a stone becoming the sparkle of a diamond.

Maybe the best analysis I have seen for years, the ability to always keep balance is a underrated skill, you have more options and chances to make faster adjustments or set ups than your opponent, the more chances you get from these details the more chance you gonna succeed.

Inoue has perfected the one inch punch, only Shaolin monk, Bruce Lee, and Inoue can hurt his opponents with the one inch punch, so much torque behind that short punch. Look at the knock out punch on round 6, very short punch but so powerful that it snap Nery head back so far that's why Nery is unable to get up.

The changing of timing that luke is talking about is what Bruce lee called broken rhythm in his jkd book. Getting your opponent off rhythm and making your opponent not be able to get timing down and to get them akward and uncomfortable. Inoue is the best I’ve ever seen at judging distance and timing. The guy just doesn’t waste any of his punches and is the most efficient boxer we have seen in a long time.

Naoya Inoue's jab is very similar to the no-motion jab often used by Mexican boxers.
I learned this through repeated practice while checking my own motions over and over again in front of the mirror.
Even with just one jab, Naoya Inoue's punches are top notch.

The type of power he was able to generate from such a short distance is similar to a technique in Chinese Gung Fu called the one inch punch or short distant punch.
