That would have been a house worth saving. Defiantly a meat grinder. Its what we still use in our home. Sausage, relishes an so on. I'm old and its what my mother used before I was born and relish making took all of us kids taking turns outside grinding onions,, green tomatoes an so on for moms famous green tomato relish. The box you asked about, its a shoe shine box. The handle was also used as a rest for the shoe to be shined. The door on it opens to hold the rags , brushes and wax. Thanks for the tour xx

l think the little box underneath the table was for coal for the fire
Sad to see it decaying,but when you look out from bedroom window it looks like somebody looking after the garden and maybe the house also,enjoyed looking around this place thanks for sharing 👍

A lovely place ..every thing is so tiding so in order nothing is out of place ..Even the books & ornaments are perfectly in place. A great explore for 2 respectful explore's . Even inside all cupboards was neat . My kind of place

The gentleman may not have married but there was certainly a feminine presence in his life and it looked like she lived there too. Place is very well kept, and I did notice that although some of the ceilings were coming down, there was no debris lying about. I did get a sad vibe from this explore . . . and it does look like the place is kept somewhat clean. Nice to see an explore of a home that hasn't been trashed by thieves and vandals. Thank you for sharing this exquisite find.

The House looks like it’s just waiting to become a home again. Thank you for being so respectful of this Man’s house and possessions I feel sure someone must be looking after it as it’s way too clean and dust free. The box under the table with the handle is a shoe shine box - cleaning items inside and the slanted front is where you rested your foot. Men used to polish their shoes daily it was considered essential good grooming having clean shiny shoes. 💗☮️🙏🐨🇦🇺
It is so sad to see someone's life crumble away. The house is very neat and tidy considering he has been gone awhile. It does look like he was going to return.

Hi guys, what a brilliant find. The house is gorgeous, a real time capsule. I wonder why Howard had two toothbrushes 🪥 one being pink? Did he have a ‘friend’ I wonder. Certain areas looked clean and not very dusty. I wonder if anyone is popping around now and then just to check over the house for Howard? The crack in the wall over the front door is concerning, I hope it’s nothing structural. Under the table is a coal scuttle, and in the pantry is a mincer, to make your own mince. Next to the fridge it is a washing machine. The meat grinder you mentioned is a mincing machine for meat to make mince meat. Great to watch as always guys. Take care . Thanks.

Hi in the pantry the big metal item is a mincer ... Use it to make mince from chunks of beef like stewing beef ..great item and quite old possibly 👍
Makes you wonder if any family were unaware of his ownership of the house but with paperwork you would expect them to know if he's 76 he might be still alive his house didn't have walking sticks, medicine bottles galore, Zimmer frames or inhalers like many.
I love the beginning story, it scrolled slowly enough to read and white print stood out boldly…do not know how it happened , but a grateful senior here.

I get a sad feeling about the history of this house. It sounds as if Gordon has maybe passed away. I think that is the most likely reason that he hasn’t returned to this house for so long. He probably intended to return, but something must have prevented it. It is a real time warp with so many things left behind. The item in the kitchen, with the handle, is a hand operated mincer, for mincing meat. My Mum had one of these, many years ago. I almost expected Gordon to walk in. He kept the house tidy.I hope that it doesn’t get vandalised. A great video.
great old-school "Hoover" non-auto washing machine or spinner, a good 60 yrs old

I have the same meat mincer! It's definitely old/vintage. And it came with 3 or 4 interchangeable grate discs (for lack of actual name). I can't say that mine and the one in this house are the same, but wood handle and metal's appearance are exact. I found it at an estate sale (California, U.S.) but never used it. I had it displayed, tightened it to the edge of a utility wood block in my kitchen and all the kiddos used to love churning the handle (even the teens and adults!), but I had to take it down finally as the little ones would get conked in the head because the handle was heavy and had a loose swing! Lol
But I still have it and love the nostalgia of it!
@@sluurr6171 Yeah, my Mum had one of those, very effective, took some human energy to use, & cleaning afterwards was a faff, but if I still ate meat I'd use one today
@@daffyduk77 I agree, and I should so dust off the mincer! Ha haa! For its age (it's old), it's well intact and in great working condition.. and all the disc blades are still sharp!

What a remarkable house! He looked like a very tidy neat person. Everything had a place kitchen was very neat and everything else was kept up very nice. I wonder what the deal was with all the single beds
The wooden piece under the table is to put your coal in, should have a small spade ,or if you look at the shape it lifted up so you chuck the coal straight into the fire.
Love the can opener on the kitchen door and that brown metal bin under the table has to do with coal.
Yeah those clear acrylic sheets over the windows using magnetic strips would make it a lot warmer especially if you revamp the old windows a bit too, looks like they might also be to insulate the traffic noise from the busy road behind.
The main benefit of insulation is it makes a house feel so much more comfortable and pleasant to live in you don't have so much variation in hot and cold spots at any time of the year, it really isn't so much the money saved or it being eco friendly.
I love to hear what other country's call different items. You call it a torch in the states we call it a flashlight, but you called it a pantry and so do we. Just came across your channel and am subscribing.

Great find , sad to see it abandoned but at least its not been trashed and hope someone will move in and do it up, with the cracks in the walls and ceilings looks like they might have had to move out for their safety , lets hope they have a nicer home and still with us, ive subbed! :)
The metal object attached to a surface is a meat mincer, the box under the table is a coal shuttle and the green door stop is actually an old fashioned iron

I have a meat grinder just like that, never use it as I don't have a good counter or table ledge to clamp it to. The box under the table looked like a shoe shine box, wished you would have opened it to see if it had shoe cleaning items or wood stored in it. Cute little home.

Definitely makes a change for it not to be trashed in the lady's bedroom I think that's a hot water bottle on the mantel piece it looks very like the old stone jars as they called them fill with water and put in the bed to warm it up great video again both.
I think this really stresses the importance of making a will especially when you don't have any family members to leave stuff to. I would hate my stuff to rot when I am gone but it's so easy to leave a will to a favourite charity to make sure others can continue to enjoy what you leave behind.

An idea to add some insulation to your house is hang large pictures on the inside of outside walls with some thin carpet glued to the back or cork tiles.
This house would be perfect for me.A little cleaning and fixing with Love.

Like the way he fitted a shower and bath in with plenty room with curtain pulled back, mind you you could have a shower door that folds back I suppose.

It's a mince machine my mum had one you feed the mince to get rid of boned we had gravy and cabbage with the cooked mince nice house shame he left maybe he went to his other house to live maybe it was to cold to live there or the traffic was noises

Haven't seen a carpet sweeper for years I suppose most are going for wood, laminated floors and Dyson vacuum cleaners nowadays.
Yet another abandoned one in the very close proximity of a very busy road.
Those electric fires look about 1950s expensive to heat with though but being an archeologist and a flat in London could probably afford the convenience 60p an hour for 3kwh nowadays.
An absolutely untouched house and very rare among videos like this. Normally they've been disturbed or even trashed before the UrbExers arrive. That is not a doorstop you would put it on top of the old-fashioned wood stove and heat it up and use a potholder ahold yet and iron your clothes

Gordon was an excellent housekeeper. So organized. Even the labels in the shelves facing forward. My guess is he was an introvert or not considered handsome or something. That’s why he was alone
I think that he could of possibly been a Gay man, and the Twin Beds is a sign that he had Friends, I hope that Gordon is somewhere living a Good Life. But more than Likely he's gone to His Better Home Awaiting. I Hope he's Happy, and I'm Happy, Happy, Happy.

Hi, it is a meat grinder , I have 2...can be 1945 to 1950. Shutting windows & doors save the stuff inside longer! Hopefully someone buys this before ceiling falls in & ruins everything.
Lady's bedroom: the iron is for heating the iron and taking wrinkles out of clothes.
