    I actually love modelones... it was the first dip kit I ever purchased. I have not tried the 2-in-1 base/top from them. My kits came with 4 10ml bottles. Base, activator, tip, and brush saver. I love the color scheme u did.

    I’ve only ever had this brand and this kit. You are right in worrying about sturdiness of the bottle. I’ve spilled activator many times because bottle is light as a feather.
    I will say that this is not insanely durable. I prep my nails very extensively, but I still get some edge chipping within a week. I have also had a set come apart completely after 10 days. For the price though, it works for me. 💀

    Ive been dipping g for almost 4 years. I found that when I use modelones liquids, I tend to have cracking of my mani. I have a horse and other animals so I am not gentle with my nails. Modelones wasn't my favorite liquids. My go to has become Triple Vitamin liquids and what ever powders I choose at the time. Assure is the best dip top coat I've found so far. Really the only bad dip powder I have found was Cuccio. I use their cuticle oils but the colors dissipated with time.

    Hi, is my first time using this type of product, and was wondering. Why 3 coats? Could this be done only with 2 coats if we like the results or is it a specific reason is not recommended? Thank you 🥰

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great question! 3 coats is just my general suggestion for optimal strength. If you have really short nails you may only need 2! Typically more layers = more strength. So depending on your length and lifestyle will depend on how many layers. As a general rule of thumb, I do 2 layers of color and 1 layer of clear for protection. Most dip powders need 2 layers for full opacity and I always do a layer of clear on top to avoid filing/buffing off any of the color. Ultimately it’s personal preference and what works best for you 💅🏼 hope this helps!

    Question 🙋🏻‍♀️
    So I noticed that you already had something on your nails before you applied the 1st 2 in 1 coat.
    Is it the second coat u applied or did u apply something else ahead ?

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s peel base 🥰 I apply peel base to my natural nails before filming so that I can pop the dip powder off every 1-3 days. It helps me keep up with my filming schedule without having to soak the dip powder off in acetone. I definitely don’t suggest it if you’re looking for longevity but if you like changing out your manicure every few days it’s great 💖

    I love all of your product reviews! Just curious.. do you do reviews on your own or are you partnered/affiliated with these companies and asked to do PRs? If so, do you often reach out to companies or do they reach out to you?

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much! 🥰 it can be a mix of both! Anytime I am paid to show the product I always mention that in the video for full transparency and to stay within FTC regulations. I also click the “paid/sponsored” button so it displays at the beginning of the video. So if you ever hear me mention a sponsor and see that little option pop up, then it’s affiliated 🫶🏻 most of my Amazon reviews are things I purchased on my own. I usually buy products that I’ve been asked about so I can give it an unbiased review from the perspective of a consumer and no “special treatment”. I would say companies mostly reach out to me but I’m not opposed to reaching out to them. I hope that makes sense! 💗

  • @jujimu
    @jujimu ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you HAVE to use a clear dip powder or can you skip that? I watched your tutorial on using gel base and top coat with a dip powder and it wasn't used in that.

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s totally personal preference ultimately 🫶🏻 when doing a gel top coat you can use a gel base in place of clear dip powder. For example, you would do a layer of gel base (cure), remove tacky layer with rubbing alcohol and file/shape. Then cleanse with rubbing alcohol and do a gel top coat. The gel base + clear dip powder are doing the same thing, protecting the color/glitter while filing and shaping. Ultimately, it’s up to you! 💗 I however do it each time because I find the glitters will turn silver if you file them, some colors will cloud, and others will remove pigment if not protected.

    • @jujimu
      @jujimu ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SipAndDip I had been using gel base and top coat with my dip powders following your instructions. Last night I finally used the base, activator and top coat with the dip powder (all were Modelones brand). I used this kit and first off the smell was soooo strong for me and I didn’t like that. Also my nails came out super clumpy around the cuticle area which could be user error i don’t know, but it happened to me every time I used it

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m so sorry to hear that! The odor can definitely be bothersome for some 🥺🫶🏻 here’s a link to another amazon option that is “low odor”. For the cuticle area, I would suggest the pour over method. Sometimes when dipping into the jar, it can cause the liquid to ripple and bunch up. Another cause can be from too much liquid on the brush. I hope this helps! 💕

    you're having better dexterity, cz the brush handle is against the area of the part of your hand that a pen would sit.
    but my long-term hypothesis is that *:*
    the longer the brush shaft the faster it'll dry up, since the long shaft will have been dipped in liquid, dragging it out of the bottom through considerable distance, allowing, for evaporation on a longer surface area. the longer the brush shaft the more liquid is coating it. which means it's exposed to air and evaporates faster. shorter shafts don't have the surface area to be coated as much as longer ones do.
    I'd go w short brushes for longevity.

    What is the longevity of the manicure?

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  ปีที่แล้ว

      It can last weeks with the proper prep and strength 🫶🏻 dip layers will vary for each person depending on their lifestyle and nail length. So for longer nails or someone who is hard on their hands, they’ll need more layers. And if you have a solid prep routine, they’ll last 💗💗💗

  • @孖住移加
    @孖住移加 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can it really last for a month pls?

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With the proper prep and application yes! Although, I don’t think I would want them on for months. I would suggest around 2 weeks so you can do a fill or remove for a fresh set. Prep will vary for each person but pushing back cuticles, remove the shine + anything on the nail plate and a dehydrator. And for application, how many layers someone will need varies on the nail length + lifestyle. If someone experienced cracking then I would guess they’d need more strength aka layers. Finding what works best for you for prep + application is the ticket to getting a manicure to last weeks 💗💗💗

      That definitely sounds like the dip base isn’t dry yet! I would suggest doing both of your hands and then see if they’re ready to dust off. You can tell when it doesn’t have a shine or tacky look. Another tip would be to back and dip into the jar again to be double triple sure that it’s fully absorbed into the liquid 🫶🏻
