Hey Boo! Absolutely! Echoes of Wisdom really shines with the sheer number of dungeons and mini dungeons, keeping that classic puzzle-solving element alive. It’s a blast diving into each one and getting lost in all the creative challenges and trying to figure out which Echo to use! Glad to hear you're loving it too!
Awesome! Always excited to hear your thoughts! ‘The DK Country Rediscovering’ video style you do. Where it’s you playing the game in segments sort of informally while also doing formal review parts as well. That mix is nice and it’s cool to see your reactions in that video.
Thanks for the kind words, Tyler! I'm glad you enjoyed the format of the DK Country Rediscovering video. I love mixing informal gameplay with formal review segments, so I appreciate your feedback. I'll definitely continue using that format!
This game has completely grown on me. I enjoyed the very beginning, then had a period where I thought it was just what it was and no more, and then it opened up and got even better. This is a great title. I hate the framerate dips, but have hope for switch 2 for this title and will definitely be replaying it.
totally get what you mean! It’s interesting how games can have that initial impression but then grow on you as you explore more. Echoes of Wisdom really does have a lot to offer as you delve deeper, and the creativity in puzzles and exploration is top-notch. 🎮 I feel you on the framerate dips; but I also share your hope for the Switch 2! If they can enhance performance, it would make replays even more enjoyable!
I just came upon this idea when I was eating dinner. I questioned myself, "What do I miss on my Nintendo Switch OLED?" 3D Audio Headphones made by Nintendo. What do you think about that idea as an accessory for the Switch 2? I plug in my MDR-7506 professional headphones when I'm gaming in handheld mode on the Switch. I can't use surround mode in games when I use stereo headphones, though. Are you using Audio-Technica ATH-M50x Professional Monitor Headphones? I used them for music production before and for gaming. I still have one pair that's working. I use them when I'm away from home. Looking forward to watching the Echoes of Wisdom review later. I just have to say I was really impressed on Wednesday. I had just come home from work and saw the thumbnail for the Nintendo Sound Clock Alarmo. I was hoping for a Switch 2 reveal. The Alarm Clock got my attention just from the thumbnail. I think it's a fantastic and unique product, and the trailer was very well made. I heard you bought it. Looking forward to hearing what you think about it!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! A 3D audio headphone accessory for the Switch 2 would be an awesome addition, especially for enhancing the gaming experience. I totally get what you mean about using stereo headphones and missing out on surround sound. I do use the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x for gaming, along with the Sony Pulse 3D wireless headset, which I really enjoy. But if I'm gaming in my home theater room, I use my surround sound setup instead of the headphones and that's a phenomenal experience. As for the Alarmo, I did buy two-one to keep sealed and one to review. It’s such a cool product, and I’m excited to share my thoughts on it as soon as it arrives! I appreciate your support and hope you enjoy the Echoes of Wisdom review when you get a chance to watch it!
@@thunderstashgaming I have seen some TH-cam videos of the Alarmo, and Kit & Krysta had a cool one. It seems like Nintendo has made the Alarmo a funny experience. Even the way you have to set it up seems funny. I'll write you a comment when I've watched the Echoes of Wisdom review.
The Alarmo definitely has some hilarious moments! It’s great to see how Nintendo adds humor to the experience. The setup process is entertaining in its own right, making it a fun addition to the game. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the Echoes of Wisdom review once you check it out! Let me know what you think!
I’m with you 100% on that! I’ve mentioned it a couple of times on the podcast-Echoes of Wisdom really feels like it was originally designed for the Switch 2. With the internal delay, it seems like they shifted it to the current Switch. I think bare minimum, it was meant to be released on both Switch 1 and 2. Makes you wonder what could’ve been! 🤔
@@thunderstashgaming Exactly, same lines of thought. Cool you've mentioned this on the podcast.. i'll need to start tuning into some podcasts again soon. Maybe we'll see improvements if we play the game on Switch 2. Fingers crossed.
I hope so too! It would be amazing to see what improvements could come with the Switch 2. I think a lot of players are excited about the potential for enhanced graphics and performance, especially with a title like Echoes of Wisdom. Tears of the Kingdom is another one that would really benefit from more horsepower and I'm fairly confident we will be getting a 4K/60FPS Breath of the Wild so I don't see why we wouldn't get the same treatment for TOTK. Yeah, you totally should tune into the podcast again, there’s so much going on right now in the world of Nintendo and we're so close to finally having Switch 2 be announced! Echoes is so much fun. The music has numerous standout tracks. And the art style is actually more charming here than in LA, in my opinion. And don't get me started on the lore. I mean, seriously, don't. This video was spoiler free, and i won't ruin anything for anyone.
I completely agree! The music truly enhances the experience, and the art style is so charming. The lore adds depth without giving anything away-I'm glad you enjoyed the video! What's your favorite track so far? 🎶 Even five days after beating the game, the overworld theme is still stuck in my head, which is always a sign of a great soundtrack!
@thunderstashgaming The first tracks, the lead-up to Ganon and Ganon's Battle, are both good tracks. I also love Stilled Hyrule Castle. But my favorite track of the game has got to be Tri's Theme. It may just be me for all i know, but i find it achingly beautiful and heart-rending all at the same time. Very much in the same vein as Fi's Theme from Skyward Sword.
Your enthusiasm for the music in Echoes of Wisdom really shines through! The tracks leading up to Ganon and during the battle are definitely epic, setting a perfect tone for those intense moments. “Stilled Hyrule Castle” has such an atmospheric feel, and it’s cool that you resonate so much with Tri's Theme-it's a beautiful piece that really captures the emotional depth of the game, much like Fi's Theme does in Skyward Sword. The music in The Legend of Zelda series will always be extremely special to me.
I absolutely LOVE this game. I ended up around 45hrs with 100% completion personally, but I ran around looking for things for a long time. Currently on my second playthrough, and I will be streaming hero mode soon so I am excited to do that and be tortured while live haha. Great review! Thanks so much! I appreciate your support! If you’re a fan of Zelda, I think you’ll really enjoy this one when you get the chance to play. What are you most excited about in the new Zelda games?
I'm really glad they are sticking with the open world style. I know it seems to present bigger challenges to creating in world traditional dungeons but I really thought TotK stepped it way up when compared to botw. Also I'm a compete and total sucker for the music. I have bought every soundtrack on CD that's available (and doesn't cost hundreds of dollars) including the recently released 9CD version of TotK!
I'm thrilled to hear you're excited about the open-world style! It really brings a fresh dynamic to the Zelda experience, and I agree-Tears of the Kingdom has taken things to a whole new level compared to Breath of the Wild! 🎮 The music in the series is fantastic and truly elevates the overall experience. The 9-CD version of TotK sounds amazing! I recently bought the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth soundtrack because it’s just that good. Do you have a favorite track or moment from any of the soundtracks you’ve collected?
@@thunderstashgaming oh so so many! 'Ocean' from the Wind waker, great fairy fountains theme, specifically the version from the 25th anniversary CD that came with the special edition of skyward sword on the wii, the Shadow Nightmares Song. (Marin's Capella version), which comes from the 4 Disc version of Link's Awakening NS version. I'm only scratching the surface here I could list another 20 or so easily!
Great review! Zelda looks so cool with the hood. It's a good enough reason to pick up the game (laughs). It's kind of funny, in a way, that Nintendo is making the best games on a chip from the Nvidia Shield from 2015. Sony and Microsoft have the most powerful systems, and they still haven't made a game as good as Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom, which are probably two of the greatest games ever-even though I haven't completed them yet! You feel the polish in these games right from the start. They don't feel bloated either. A good example of bloated is probably AC Syndicate. You can spend 24 hours just getting 2 percent more in that game by collecting all the chests, bottles, messages, glitches, and other stuff in the endgame. For me, it was worth it! But I guess not everyone would want to spend so much time for 2 percent more completion. There’s probably an HDR mode for Switch 2 on this one if it's true that the LCD has HDR capabilities, although I think it’s still OLED. What if this is a taste of Nintendo doing a 3D Zelda game where you also play as Zelda? Now I hope Ubisoft and Nintendo partner to do an AC Odyssey vs. Zelda game.
Thanks for checking out my Zelda review! I'm with you on the hooded Zelda-it’s such a cool look for her, and honestly, it’s funny how something as simple as a wardrobe change can make a game even more appealing (laughs). And yeah, it's crazy when you think about how Nintendo is still getting so much out of that Nvidia Shield tech from 2015. The fact that they’ve made games like Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom on it is kind of mind-blowing. Totally agree on the Sony and Microsoft front. They've got these powerhouse consoles, but when it comes to game design, Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are in a league of their own. Even though you haven’t completed them yet, you can feel that polish and care put into every detail from the moment you start. They just don’t have that overwhelming bloat some games do, where it feels like the devs are just adding stuff to keep you busy. AC Syndicate is a great example of that bloat! I mean, I respect your commitment to that 2 percent (haha), but I feel like most people would tap out way before that. Ubisoft is well-known for having bloat in a lot of their games but it seems like they might be trying to correct that with recent Assassins Creed gams like they did with Mirage. That’s what I appreciate about Zelda-it’s deep without feeling like it's trying to stretch your playtime for no reason. As for Switch 2, man, HDR mode could definitely be a game-changer. Whether it’s OLED or not, the potential to take these games to the next level with new hardware has me hyped. I think there if the Switch 2 launches with an LCD screen that we will eventually get an OLED again. Just imagining those vibrant Zelda landscapes with HDR? Sign me up! And now you’ve got me thinking about a 3D Zelda game where we actually get to play as Zelda herself! That would be such a cool twist. I’m all in for your Ubisoft x Nintendo crossover idea. I mean, they've did a crossover with the two Mario/Rabbids games. An AC Odyssey style Zelda game sounds wild, but I’d totally play that. Zelda as an assassin? Yes, please!
@@thunderstashgaming I just read that many people are leaving the Ubisoft Milan studio. New talents always rise as someone dies. Ubisoft x Nintendo crossover should happen with Zelda as an assassin teaming up with Kassandra from Odyssey and Eivor from Valhalla. That would be my dream AC game. Mature rated game for sure. Kassandra is such a great character and Eivor from AC Valhalla and Evie from AC Syndicate. Why not have Aloy in there as well from Horizon series? Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom is already looking brilliant on Switch OLED. Super Switch OLED with HDR and 1080P in handheld would top it with 120Hz refresh rate. Now I'm dreaming.
That’s an intriguing idea about a Ubisoft x Nintendo crossover! The combination of Zelda, Kassandra, Eivor, and Aloy would create a truly epic adventure, blending iconic characters from some of the best open-world and action RPGs. A mature-rated Assassin's Creed game with these characters could explore different parts of history and mythical realms in a way that feels fresh and exciting. Kassandra and Eivor are fan favorites, and adding Aloy would bring a futuristic, yet primal, twist to the mix. As for the Switch OLED and the rumored Switch 2, having HDR and a 1080p handheld display with a 120Hz refresh rate would be incredible! That would definitely elevate games like Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom to a new level of visual fidelity. It would be amazing to see that kind of leap, especially as the Switch is approaching its seventh year since release. Who knows, maybe that dream will come true?
@@thunderstashgaming A such Ubisoft game could have been their rescue forward. I don't think Ubisoft play their cards wrong with AC Shadows. It's up to the customers if they want to support Ubisoft or not. I definitely want too. I've played Ubisoft games since Rank Xero and Unreal on Amiga 500. Star Wars Outlaws is much better now I've heard after the new patches has been released. Have you played Star Wars Outlaws? I think Nintendo is playing a game with all of us and the leakers just to get the hype train up and running. They want us to be excited everyday with the Switch 2 rumors and all they do is laugh at their offices. I have thought about this so many times. Why would they use LCD on Switch 2 just to keep the cost down. When the Switch they sell most of is OLED Switch. Why not get all customers on a new system onto a Switch 2 that uses OLED and not LCD. Why go back in time when you can progress like they did with Switch OLED. It would be a dream come true if that happened. I think so much about both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom when I'm going to jump into these games again. It would be definitely be next year. I want to complete the Switch backlog before I deeply dive into the PS5 Pro.
But this game dont sell as well as other modern AAA games starring female protags. Zelda EoW flopped, Peach Showtime flopped, and MP4 Beyond might flopped too.
Thanks for your comment! I can see where you’re coming from, but when we dig into the actual sales numbers, it paints a different picture. Princess Peach Showtime sold 1.22 million copies in just 10 days, making it the #1 selling Switch game for March 2024-pretty impressive! Similarly, Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom moved 200,121 physical copies in Japan alone during its first four days, which is a strong launch compared to past Zelda titles like Link’s Awakening which opened with 141,375 units. Also, keep in mind that these games likely had smaller development budgets compared to some of the major AAA games starring female protagonists. Titles like Horizon Forbidden West or Tomb Raider likely had significantly bigger marketing and development budgets, so direct comparisons on sales alone can be tricky. Considering their scale, both Princess Peach Showtime and Echoes of Wisdom have done extremely well in their own right and will be extremely profitable. As for MP4 Beyond, we’ll have to wait and see how it performs, but with Nintendo’s solid track record for first-party titles, it’s tough to count them out. That said, Metroid has always had an uphill battle when it comes to mainstream appeal. While it’s strongly supported by longtime Nintendo fans, Nintendo will need to pull out all the stops to bring in new players and expand the series’ audience.
@thunderstashgaming my question to you is how do you know Nintendo games cost less to make than ps games? Or other AAA third party games? Do u have any link to these budgets?
Thanks for your follow-up question! While exact budgets for Nintendo games can be hard to come by due to the company's typically private nature regarding financial details, there are some industry insights that help illustrate the difference. For instance, AAA titles like Horizon Forbidden West and The Last of Us Part II had development budgets reported at around $212 million and $220 million, respectively. Nintendo often has lower development costs for their titles, mainly because they leverage established franchises and rely on in-house teams. For example, while specific numbers for games like Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom aren't publicly disclosed, Nintendo's development approach typically leads to more cost-effective production compared to the extensive marketing and production budgets seen in big AAA projects. There's so much that goes into the development cost of making games, including game engine licensing costs, licensing IP, and the way a company operates from a business standpoint-factors like culture, turnover rate, and training dollars all play a role. Time and resources spent on training new employees can increase costs, especially in companies with high turnover rates due to poor work culture, something we see a lot in gaming. Layoffs, which Nintendo doesn't do, also add to these costs. It costs more money to develop games when you have to spend more time training employees, scheduling meetings, and organizing training sessions, as opposed to a company like Nintendo that boasts one of the highest employee retention rates at 98.8%. When you retain employees for years, and even decades, your business runs like a well-oiled machine, allowing you to hit the ground running every single day and make progress on games much faster. For context, Skull and Bones reportedly had a staggering budget between $650 million and $850 million spread over a decade. In comparison, Concord had a budget of $400 million for an 8-year development cycle, only to be available for just 2 weeks. This highlights the significant disparity in budgets across the gaming industry. Additionally, when comparing financials, Nintendo has consistently maintained considerably lower operating costs than major AAA titles. This efficiency allows Nintendo to achieve profitability even with lower sales figures compared to some of its competitors.
@thunderstashgaming but from reddit and 4chan and famiboard many said BOTW TOTK budget balooned up to $300m, so i kinda doubt Nintendo budget is lower than most AAA games from ps or third party. who knows, tho we can speculate all we want all days, but without an official source, it's kinda hard to be sure.
You bring up a great point. The estimated budget for Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom being around $300 million has indeed been discussed on platforms like Reddit, 4chan, and FamiBoards, but as you mentioned, it's speculative without an official confirmation from Nintendo. While we can make educated guesses based on development timelines, team sizes, and marketing efforts, Nintendo typically keeps their budgets tightly under wraps, making definitive numbers hard to pin down. In the case of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, considering the massive scope of the games, their extensive marketing, and their lengthy development cycles, it's entirely possible that their budgets were on the higher end of the spectrum. However, it's also important to note that Nintendo often works efficiently within its internal development structure, which includes a highly experienced in-house team and a strong culture of employee retention. This could mean that, while the upfront costs may be high, they could be more cost-effective than other AAA projects, especially when factoring in long-term sustainability and development efficiency. As you correctly noted, speculating is a big part of the conversation since we don't have the hard numbers, and without official disclosures, all we can do is make educated assumptions based on industry trends. It's fascinating to see how Nintendo's approach compares to other studios in terms of budgeting and profitability, especially considering how their games perform in the market. In the end, you're right-we’re left to speculate, but the conversation is definitely interesting and adds a layer of intrigue to how much goes into the creation of some of the most beloved games in the industry!
