This is unreal Sammy nd Tez, still watching but what you're doing at the moment is the ultimate just to be able to fish with your Dad nd make memories ❤
I've always thought these were called Spotty Mackerel, not School Mackerel! What a great technique too and one I am now eager to give a try. Thanks so much for an informative and enjoyable vid!
The first and only time I had an experience with a planer (paravane, Oz speak) was at Lake Cumberland in Kentucky. We went out with a lake guide, all gear supplied. Unfortunatelythe rods were broomsticks but my God, Hybrid Striped Bass gave the maxrd rod and line a good go. The Hybrid is a cross between freshwater Whire Bass and saltwater Striped Bass. A Hybrid has broken stripes, but it was seriously the best tasting fish (other than Elf) that I've ever eaten. Best place to catch them is in the creeks on the Tennessee side of the lake which has produced specimens over 60lb.
Love the new tinny and you christened it in properly with some nice catches. Would love to you you take on some big fish in the small boat. That would be fun. Great show as always!!
the old guys here in SA still do this for Snook, the old guys still use handlines to do it though. i personally just use a diver but paravanes still work a treat
Hi Sammy. Amazing catch and good vid. I'm your follower and tried many ways you did or suggest but still no luck. Catching Mackerel is easy for you but it's my target of this year. I really worked hard to achieve this. I used 30g Halco Twisty Metal lure to cast in Rainbow Channel and around Peel. Then used Laser Pro 190 and V-Minnow 130 to troll in the same area and 4 beacons near Moreton Island. Tried 6 times but still not catch a single mackerel. Today the paravane set was delivered my home. I'll try this weekend. Exploration is part of the fun. So even failed again I would not give up but still try next time. However, I'd much appreciate if you can share a bit more tips and rough location. Many thanks in advance.
Catching mackerel is one of the hardest things to do in fishing. They’re extremely rare, especially once you get north of SEQ, and they are very fussy feeders.
Love your work, using your techniques down here in South West Rocks, might need a new dehooker soon.. ? What are those tubs near your right foot hanging on the shelf edge please ?
Nothing wrong with those, I would catch a few limits of those size, vacuum seal those cheeky bas?@>ds in a couple different cuts, so I can smoke later. As you know mate great fish patties, sushi, fried, soup, snack on boat, pita bread hoagie. Fillet like you do, dry, dry, dry and don't forget the pint. I'm going to try the Phantoms here in California...Cheers.🍺
@@SammyHitzkeFishing I will catch something with the Phantom. We have the Jack Mackerel a lot similar in flesh to your Spanish, but not quite as slender.
Do the paravane have estimate breaking strain? Thinking about getting one and put troll cam behind it but worried it might snap if hook big tuna or kingy! Do they seem pretty solid construction Sammy?
The original yo-zuri k type boards are strong asf ... the size 13 board can go upto 33+ meters deep with 103lb daiwa j braid but it takes hell lot of drag
Well at least someone is doing well. I've had such a bad stroke of luck lately I don't even want to look at a rod right now. Boat has broken in a different way the last 4 times out and I somehow managed to pick the worst days to go for the last month. Depressing stuff
Unfortunately very limited for options on where to have a lapel microphone while still using a gopro. This is the best I’ve been able to come up with so far sorry
Unfortunately I don’t share spots sorry. I don’t think that it’s necessary. I like to teach people techniques so that they can try them in their local area. Finding the fish yourself is half the fun of fishing. 🍻🍻

Couldn’t agree more mate! Always great experiences and memories 💪💪👌👌
Brilliant to see you and the Phantom enjoying a great days fishing with the new boat
Appreciate it mate! Thanks for watching 🍻🍻
Great to see Tez helping you out again Sammy, bit of the "New" and the "Old/New" on this one, good to see both working for you guys, Well Done.
Hahah yeah mate, always good to see what the old boy is up too and tag along for a trip!

Brilliant video guys, awesome to see you both getting out and nailing some fish together! I love Terry’s rig too 😉👍🎣
The Master is back in his natural Habitat slaying once again!

Great to get out with you for a session. 👍

Planning on taking further afield in the near future. Should be epic 👌👌
Old Jungle Saying
“Phantom quick like lightening”
Enjoyed this episode immensely
Thanks for tuning in guys! 🍻🍻
That is what the old fellas at Eildon were cleaning up on with trout. Good to see it is also used out in the blue
Well there you go! Versatile technique I guess!
Nice video mate it’s good to see you spending some time with the phantom!
Thank mate! Always good fun when he’s on board!
Looking forward to your next Luderick session with the old Phantom showing you how it’s done! Great sesh!
Hopefully coming up soon, if I can find some.
Great episode again Sammy, love the variety of species and techniques 😉
Cheers mate! I like to keep everyone guessing 😂😂
Love it me and loving the new boat 👌👌
Love the Phantom vids. He’s an ideas man!! 👌 🍻
He’s always thinking!
Great video, thanks
Awesome 😎 mate, well done 👍
Top little video Sammy!

Well there you go! Such a versatile technique!
The 9/10 size dive board with a 160/190halco laser pro is a killer on wahoo and tuna fishing around Nauru. Best run off an alvey winch.
Have to give it a whirl!

@@anthonyleavey7514 Just back home. Failed again this time with paravane technique. Thanks for letting me know. Feel better lol
gday from sunny Queensland , top vid this one , cheers
Thanks legend! 💪💪
Great feed from the bay
🤤🤤🤤
Man I love it I can’t wait for more macerals to run into the bay they are great❤❤❤
Thanks mate! 🙌💪
We used to land the tuna on 4 inch thick foam mat when i was a commercial fisho...to stop the fish self destructing.
Yeah I’ve seen that done. Looks very effective 👌
Those spotties look so much fun to catch sammy can you catch them all year round or mainly the summer months
They are school macs Craig.
Still some in summer in recent years but way better in winter.
This looks epic!!!!
🙌🙌🙌

Lovely Ep and lovely fishing,
Thanks mate!
Thanks Sammy, do you reckon the shallow water is best for this technique?
Five to nine meters works well.
Soooo much fun 🤙
It was real good 💪🍻🍻
Surely there's a tshirt coming with an image of Tezzas custom school mackerel measuring tub!
Lovely catch
Thanks mate 🍻🍻🍻
Great video, what size are you using for the paravane and spoon there exactly,I can't wait to try this in the caribbean. Thanks in advance.
Thanks Tony.
It’s a 15cm orange paravane and a #3 spoon. 3”.
@@terrytailor Thanks,I made contact and placed an order with Frank.
Great fishing
Thanks mate! 🙌🙌
another sick vid bro
Thanks mate! 🍻🍻
Good to see the phantom is still doing well. Sammy? Do you plan on doing any GT fishing 🎣 n the future??
Yeah mate the old boy still smashing them. I did a lot of GT fishing in the Swains videos I posted a few months ago if you haven’t seen them yet?
Great job loved it
Thanks mate 🍻🍻
Nice mackerel
Thanks mate! 🍻🍻
Hi mate what's the best time of year to target the school mackerel
You can get them all year round mate 👌👌
Those schoolies are the size of our Spanish Macks here in the US. Your Spanish are nearly the size of our King macks.
Yeah we both have our mackerel names all mixed up!
Great video brother
🙌🙌🙌
Good stuff lads
🍻🍻🍻
Loving the new tinny videos
Yeahhhhhh❤
🍻🍻🍻🍻
Great catch guys, do not see you doing prawn this year?
Nah I missed them unfortunately this year! Will be ready to rock and roll next year though for sure 👌👌
Congrats on 120000 subscribers👉👍
Thanks mate 🙌🙌🙌
Haveing your camera up high on minnkota is a great view angle an see every thing now
Cheers mate, yeah it’s a cool perspective 👌👌💪💪
Epic! How do they eat?
Really well mate! Schoolies are delicious 🍻🍻
Excellent!
What speed are you trolling at please Sammy
I see 9km an hour on the sounder, cheers
4to6 knts is recommended
Yeah mate I actually went through it in the video. 4-6knots 👍
@sammy can I just tow a halco metal slug?
Sorry bud, will have to rewatch it 😅

Not that I know of mate they seem pretty strong!
The original yo-zuri k type boards are strong asf ... the size 13 board can go upto 33+ meters deep with 103lb daiwa j braid but it takes hell lot of drag
The paravanes its it have different depth from the size?
Not in this case mate. The depth is determined by how much line you let out 👍
Ok understood.. thanks mate
where'd you get those paravanes from? Im yet to find one im happy with
They look like the mr bait pre-made rigs to me
Yeah Mr bait mate 👍
I like the orange Mr Bait paravanes.
They catch well and aren’t expensive.
How do you compare that type planer vs the metal style
And what brand spoon
I haven’t tried the metal ones for this sorry mate. You can get the board and the spoon as a pack from Mr Bait
Hi Sammy, when did you go out for school mackerel please.
This was a recent video mate
Will you be doing a boat review?
I did a bit of a review in the build video if you’ve seen that one mate?
BCF’in good
🍻🍻🍻
what do you call that orange gadget?
Planer board mate 👍
@@SammyHitzkeFishing thank you.

@@SammyHitzkeFishing Thanks. Always love the videos with you and your dad.
What happened to the Hummingbirds???
I don’t think I’ve ever owned a hummingbird sorry mate??
You forgot to pick me up 😢
And he’s got room now too 🤷🏻♀️
@@terrytailor 😂 well done guys be great to see you guys on the water again
I seemed like a good idear at the time.
Boat looks a treat what tranny you running Sammy ?
Thanks mate!! Just the standard 3-1 active imaging on there 👌
Could you move your microphone so that your breathing isn’t audible?
Unfortunately very limited for options on where to have a lapel microphone while still using a gopro. This is the best I’ve been able to come up with so far sorry
Would be even better vids if you helped people catch more fish by sharing the semi locations 🤷♂️
