- Ahoy fisho's!! This week I headed out to target a few pelagics, but when they wouldn't bite, I changed plans and ended up hooking a fish I'd been targeting for the last 12 months!! My dream fish!! Fingers crossed I can stay composed, land it and finish my challenge before I run out of time!!

Sammy a lot of game fishermen don’t realise how delicate the sail on a sailfish is they tear very easily, and they use the sail to help to manoeuvre when hunting. As you have a vast amount of people following your channel could you mention that so people re aware of it. Thanks Sammy, and by the way well done succeeding in your personal challenge that was not an easy thing to do👍🤘

I often read in the comments of people referring to you as a 'legend' , and having known you just a few years before you could fish, I'd have to say that it sits a little uneasy with me.
Definitely something that family members don't usually call each other..... but,........in trying to find descriptors for what you just achieved, I had to go beyond being extremely proud and happy for you and offering my sincere congratulations.
What you pulled off, in my eyes, is legendary.
Not just the wonderful fish, all solo in one year, but the behind the scenes persistence, focus and effort that only your family sees.
Of that I'm proud, and know how deserving of this milestone you are.
I tip my hat to you mate, and want to say that it's generally impressive people that do impressive things!

Hey Sammy, I really enjoy your videos. They are really good and I love them. I am a kid that lives along the Gold Coast, who has fishing dreams to one-day catch fish like you do mate. I actually have a TH-cam channel of my own. It known as Tigerpit Adventures. I also did the flathead classic! I placed in the top 5 for the juniors with over 800 points. I would love to some day meet you and grow my TH-cam channel to some day be as good of a fisherman as you are! You are my idol and I would some day love to meet you in person. Nah, YOU did it. Congratulations champion, well deserved reward for effort. A big sailfish, well above average. I’ve decided to rig my baits badly in the future, live and learn. My fave quote from the episode was “Yeh, bugger”. What a wordsmith.

Excellent video's as always Sammy, well done and on your own to top it all. Dangerous on the sea on your own though anything can happen and you stuffed. My skipper died of a heart attack on the boat, fortunately I was there to take the boat home.

Congratulations! Solo offshore is my favourite- so many decisions to make once hooked up. Turn, bring in other lines, reel, accelerate, slow down- many times all during the fight!
Absolutely epic challenge man, solo is a WHOLE different story. Props to you. Had to come back for an end of video edit lol, that was a gorgeous sail! Solid solid fish, definitely in that 30- 40 kilo mark. Congrats man!

I enjoy your videos. I am now at an age where I no longer wish to catchfish larger than I. For 18 years, I tried to catch everything in the Sea of Cortez in Mexico and pretty much did. Fishing there is much like I see on your videos. Exceptions were: broadbill swordfish and Black marlin. Both those are not in great abundance there. I caught dozens of striped marlin and Several 'Blues' as well as dozens of yellowfin tuna plus a few Wahoo and sail fish. My boat was a 19 foot center console open panga. And dozens of Mahi Mahi up to 70 pounds. I'm a bit of a 'Foodie', too. My favorites for food are Wahoo, Yellowfin Tuna and all kinds of Reef fish. One day, I took and friend out and he hooked a blue marlin, jigging. Be well and keep your line in the water.
Well Done Sammy, what an absolutely great achievement. Not too many fisho's can say they have done what you have just done. (not even those Game Fisho's) Not sure what you are going to do to set the bar higher than this Mate, but, as always I'm sure it will be a bottler. Congrats.

Been such a hard year for me, weather has been shit and the few times I've managed to get out haven't been blinders, still yet to have a really good session in my new boat. I'm so glad to see someone hit a fishing goal though, gives me hope this summer I might get my first Dolly and Marlin

Unfortunately they are so rare here that they pretty much can’t be targeted. We don’t even see 1 a season caught amongst the whole game fishing fleet!

Man, well done.Not good to piss in peoples pockets,but you deserve it. Really you must be one of the best fishermen in Australia, maybe the World. Nobody sets up a challenge like that, every Billfish in a calendar Year. Solo from own boat, and actually does it. It’s freakish!! Really amazing!

Awesome video, I find it really interesting that sails are more elusive than Marlins for you and where I live in Florida it is the reverse I have caught a bunch of sails and have never even seen a marlin
You forgot about a short bill spearfish. I got one a few months back of Ulladulla while fishing for yellowfin. It was a big surprise. I have only ever caught striped marlin before that so keen to get a black and a blue this year as always thanks for the amazing footage. Getting keen for the beakys to show up down south 🤙
