The Wrong oil destroyed my engine!?

  • Mobil1 5w30 engine oil could be to thin for your car or viscous, especially if you drive a modern vehicle like a direct injection engine. Always check with the manufacturer or the owner manual. Often some manufacturers recommend using a chart depending on the climate or environment you live in. what is the best engine oil, There are many factors such as increased wear from driving habits. Protection from oil can be improved if you have a direct injection engine then you dont want to use a thick oil that the manufacturer doesn't suggest. Also noack volatility is a important factor. Mobil1 extended performance 5w30 is a great oil but make sure this falls into the manufacturer's recommendations. Mobil1 vs supertech oil is another video where I test and review motor oil. zinc or zddp can be very important however due to the catalytic converter you must follow manufacturer's recommendations because Zddp can be harmful to the catalytic converter. Amsoil signature series 5w30 or Mobil1 annual protection full synthetic engine oil again thats a video I performed testing. Thin engine oil can damage the engine if its not the proper viscosity from the manufacturer of your car or vehicle. Liqui moly engine oil, Pennzoil ultra platinum or motul specific motor oil are good options. All oils with the manufacturer specifications and certifications can be used if your manufacturer says its safe. valvoline advanced full synthetic oil is a great quality oil for winter cold temperatures or summer hot temperatures.

@@gagandipkaur8011 If this oil follows manufacturers specifications and you have had success using it then you may not want to change unless the manufacturer does confirm the new oil you would like to use is ok with the manufacturer. Mobil 1 0w-40 is in FACT a heavier or higher end of viscosity allowance for a 30 weight oil at operating temperature (where the second number is calculated ie 20, 30, 40 & 50 weight). If you don’t believe me look at the VOA of this oil. I use Mobil 1 0w-40 for any vehicle (mostly Toyotas) that call for 5w-30). I’m not telling anyone to do this, you can educate yourself and make your own decision.
The Lucas fuel additive you used “in my opinion” does nothing as it contains ZERO PEA. Use one that does (RedLine S1-1 or Techron) if you want to actually clean carbon.

I think you mean that it’s a very light 40w that’s nearly a heavy 30w. If I recall correctly 40w Mobil 1 has been like that for a long time now.

    • @nordicpride9708
      @nordicpride9708 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

@@michaelw6277 Yes I changed the wording. Seemed right in my head lol. Mobil 1 0w-40 FS has always been a lighter 40wt which in context of viscosity allowance at temp for a 30wt is perfect. It also seems to shear a slight bit in use thus making it settle right in the middle for a required 30wt oil. Love that it contains a little PAO (think it’s mostly GTL these days). Very robust formulation for sure!

    I've got a 99 Yukon. 5.7 vortec 350 slightly modded.
    Manufacturer recommendation is 5w30
I strictly use Mobil 1 - 15w50 full synthetic race proven oil along side either k&n or Mobil 1 long life oil filters. Changed every 3 to 4k . Not to mention I use neodymium magnets on my oil filter & a magnetic oil drain plug. You never know what metal particulates can be picked up along the magnets potentially helping longevity of the engine.
I use that oil year round, here in Colorado. The Mobil 1 15w50 full synthetic has extra anti wear agents that make my old high mileage rig run like a champ for 225xxx miles. Would not recommend such heavy weight oil on these newer vehicles. Usually a quality synthetic Manufacturer recommendation on oil changed every 3 to 5k is key. I don't believe in long oil change intervals especially since gas mixes in oil over time. - very corrosive

I won't purchase a vehicle with turbos, GDI without port injection, or sleazy mechanical CVT.
My next vehicle will probably have the Camry hybrid drive train. But not in a Camry (Seinna, rav4, Vensa, Crown, some Lexus SUVs), probably a Rav4.
No turbos. No GDI without port injection, no sleazy mechanical CVT, no start/stop system, no belts (accessory or timing), no 12 Volt starter or alternator, no 11 speed torque converter automatic, no torque converter.
Electric car goodness without the electric car drawbacks. You get an electric car with gasoline engine assist. That engine is an efficiency tuned Atkinson cycle gasoline engine. A reliable planetary gearset provides CVT action for the gasoline engine. The main traction motor is direct drive to the wheels (like most battery electric cars).

I’ve been doing alot of research lately in regards to ‘engine flush’ when doing a oil change on hyundai i30 pd. On a few i30 forums they have stated hyundai ‘does not recommend ENGINE FLUSH’. Always check with the manufacturer they may allow this oil for substitute. Its better in cold weather hence 0w, it can possibly provide more protection at engine operating conditions hence 40. But with viscosity as the only factor. They are fairly equal. I cant tell you to use something the manufacturer doesn't suggest but many companies will allow it, just contact them.

If it's extremely cold and you can hear valve noise in cold start and it doesn't go away with in 5 minutes of extremely cold start early in the morning or late at night you can use 0w30 formula but most of the 0w30 you will find in market is specifically made to work with German cars such as BMW Mercedes benz or Audi or Porsche or VW engines also same goes with 0w40 call oil company and give your car make and model and they will tell you the best oil recommendation for your car engine I have had extremely good luck with Shell Rotella red bottle 5w30 for gas truck and suv but it worked great on my friends infiniti Q50 2020 with over 100k miles on it with twin turbo it was keep burning oil and the Shell Rotella was great for this application engine I have had great luck working in his car as a mechanic but make sure for hot summer you use 5w30 it's slightly thicker oil it's better protection for summer driving

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned
from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the
Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025
on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas
station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station fuel
pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in
the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems,
turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and
New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be
done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of
    crime here, called "Abgasbespaßung". :-(((

The very best you can do is make sure that you dont fall under severe driving conditions as many do. Check the owners manual and you will be surprised. If you fall under severe driving conditions, you may have to change the oil in half the mileage as before.
