    Just wanted to say thank you for the video you've made of the Super Soco TC Max. I've had mine for about a month and absolutely love it. Unfortunately I have to wait a few weeks to get back to riding it as I've just had my knee replaced and getting on the saddle would be a bit difficult for me at the moment! I also purchased the rear rack for the bike from the manufacturer which doesn't come with any instructions. I found that if I installed the rack, replacing the silver coloured grab rail, the two plastic side covers would no longer fit. The neat workaround was I obtained some 8mm stainless steel threaded rod and cut two lengths around 100mm each, screwed the rod where the cap head screws secure the grab rail to the frame, installed the grab rail, followed by the rear rack and tightened everything up with an M8 nut and washer each side. I had to extend the front rack mounts where they locate to the frame but in the end, it all looks great and is very secure.

    I have found that you don’t save any power by switching down to mode one. It seems to use exactly the same power on all modes at 60kph. I have a 50km round trip to work and I get home with exactly the same amount of battery left, regardless of whether I ride all the way on mode 2 or mode 3. The modes only limit the top speed.

    Good to see real world range on these. Bit disappointing results. Makes a lot of sense for a short commute. But when you have to do a return journey that is say 15-20 miles each way that would be worrying given it takes so long to charge. If they could get the charging time down or range up this would be a fantastic economical way to get around.

  • @HippoDrones
    @HippoDrones 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Be interesting to see how this compares to the city riding, I'd have thought that the start/stop environment in Portsmouth would sap range, but the 20/30mph speed limits would massively help range. I wonder if it will be hugely different from this one? :-)

    My opinion is that the removal battery (albeit chunky) is perhaps a winner for those who don't have a garage or direct access to charging the bike.
    Worried about the battery in winter? No problem. Take it out and keep it indoors.

    My brother will be doing his CBT this year. I've been looking at CBT electric bikes but everything I can find maxes out at around 50mph and has around 50 miles of range which isn't enough for a joy ride. It's a shame there's no learner electric bikes that can do 70mph with 100+ miles of range to at least compete with petrol.

    Electric push bikes are restricted to an electric motor 250 Watts peak load consumption (NOT the power output, which will be slightly less due to hysteresis losses!!) and a top speed of no greater than 15 MPH under electric power (they can go faster on human power though).

    • @JP-yc1wp
      @JP-yc1wp 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unless you put a speedbox on the electric pushbike in question. I have one fitted to mine, basically it removes the restrictor so the motor keeps assisting you, I regularly get 28+ mph out of mine. 😁

    I just got a new job working from home, but might need to drive out to sites now and then. Furthest 15 miles away. So the range is more than fine. And I can always take the battery out and charge on site.
    Been driving a 2014 Nissan Leaf. Full electric, been amazing for the past 7 years I've had it. So I'm user to driving electric. Cause that's been amazing and my other half will be using the car to get to work, been thinking of getting an electric bike for those times I have to head out.
    Your vids been a big help, and I'm thinking I'll probably go for it. Though I'm not 100% sold on the appearance more than anything.

    I think one thing that will go against these types of bikes now amongst other things is the fact that they have not been given exemption through all those back streets that have been closed off, so as you have to go the long way round you will need something that won't need to be recharged all the time, so these road closures have highlighted yet another reason to not buy electric.
    They should have exempted electric vehicles as the reason was to do with pollution they claimed.

    I don’t get why everyone is so impressed. It’s A LOT of money for a bike that does that speed and especially that distance. It can’t work out cheaper once you have bought that second battery for £1500 and then replaced them both for £3000 when they die. I could live with the prices if the bike would make 70mph and have two batteries worth of distance in one battery. As much as I would like one, it’s just not there yet.

    You do use somewhat less energy at lower speeds, due to air resistance being proportional to the square of your speed.
    You _can_ run your bike until the battery his 100% dry, but you shouldn't. Keeping it between 20% and 90% and avoiding fast charging lengthens the battery's life.
    That bike seems excellent for commuting on short distances.

    38 miles when it claims 60 miles isnt that good tbh, i looked at the homologation to see what the scenarios was, a constant 28 mph on a level plain only in mode 1...
    When they sell these bikes they should really give real world riding performance, because who rides these in factory conditions ?,
    I ended up sending mine back due to false advertising, even your bike showing 62mph down hill, i guarantee if you had a smart phone with a bike app it would have shown you doing closer to 50mph, on mine my speedo was over 20% out, and the odometer adds miles, so those 38 miles would be closer to 35 miles,
    I like the idea of these electric bikes, but they really need to give you realistic specs and not lie through their front teeth, i mean 170nms torque is laughable, the motor actually produces 12.9nm torque, they added over 1200% to that figure
