Wolf of Wall Street - get it in 4K. It's the most Oscar-worthy role of Leo's career by far. Just fantastic.

Thanks so much. Yes, I’m glad that I found this Blu Ray. It’s been at least 30 years since I saw it last.

To Live and Die in L.A. is awesome!! It’s my favorite Friedkin film other than Sorcerer.👍

I liked it quite a bit. William Petersen was great in Manhunter as well, but other than CSI I can’t recall seeing him in anything else.

@@excelsiormoviereviews he started out as a theater actor here in Chicago along with John Malkovich and Gary Sinise and then started the movie thing with Manhunter and live and die, but didn’t really like the movie aspect of Hollywood. He did CSI mainly for the money and also so he could kind of retire early and go back to theater.

@@jimtatro6550 yes, on the To Live and Die in L.A. 4K/Blu Ray he or Friedkin mentioned that Gary Sinise recommended Petersen for that movie and I agree that theater is what he enjoys more. I need to see Sorcerer, even Cinema Dave talked about it as a Criterion recommendation, I’ve heard great things in recent years.

Solid pick ups. The used places are always a joy on the wallet lol. R.I.P Hastings. Apocalypse Now is a must watch for anyone film buff. It sucks you in. Looking definitely scoop up the 4k blu ray on post Fathers Day. If you’re a fan of William Friedkin then definitely check out The French Connection if you haven’t already. I’ll be definitely upgrading to the Abyss on 4K. The wife hasn’t seen it so it’ll be on the list for sure.

Yes, I upgraded my French Connection DVD to Blu Ray last year and I also picked up The French Connection 2 and thought that it was decent, even though Friedkin didn’t direct it.
I really want to check out Sorcerer this year.

Shoulda been a French Connection 3. The actual drug news stories it was based on went crazy after the first 2 films were made. Would've been a perfect close to the story arc.

Great pickups 👍 I totally agree with you as far as the Matrix films go, the original is all you need. Check out the documentary if you haven’t seen it (Hearts of Darkness), it’s amazing.👍

Yes, Hearts of Darkness is one of the discs and George Hickenlooper also directed another documentary that I will be talking about in my next haul. He passed away way too young.

Nice1 Steve ! 🙂👍I'm with you with "The Matrix" love that first movie but the sequels are a disappointment and I never watch them. I would say there's about an hour's worth of "good stuff" in the second movie (including the freeway scene for example), but you have to skip through 78mins of dross to find it 🙂I have that Abyss 4K as well, which version do you prefer ? (Theatrical or Extended ?). I don't have "The Frighteners" yet but I really like the movie and want to get hold of it, I've only seen the Theatrical version of that but I think your blu-ray comes with an extended version as well...have you seen it ? do you prefer it ? I also have "The Wolf of Wall Street" (great movie !), "Assault on Precinct 13" (not seen it in decades but got the 2nd sight release on sale), and "Vampires" (only seen it the once and thought it was just OK but will give it another go at some point). Congrats on over 600 subs now !🥳👏

Thanks so much. I happy to hear that I have somebody in my corner on The Matrix. Yes, that freeway scene in the second one is quite memorable.
Yes, The Frighteners had both versions and I prefer the theatrical.
I like the extended ending, but the theatrical version of The Abyss is good enough for me, even though I’m glad that both are available.
Vampires isn’t great, but I liked James Woods, Thomas Ian Griffith and Sheryl Lee in it. Assault on Precinct 13 is violent, but very good.
The Wolf of Wall Street is underrated, but a bit too long.

@@excelsiormoviereviews Yer I remember a lot of "Assault on Precinct 13" (from the VHS days) and it being quite violent...that unforgetable Ice cream van scene for one ! John Carpenter was a very bold director ! (which is no bad thing ! he's made some great movies !). I prefer the Theatrical cut of the Abyss as well (although I don't mind the extended version). I also really like James Woods (especially in that "quit smoking segment" from "Cat's Eye" and in the movie "Videodrome"...I have those two on Blu-ray, I'd also like to get hold of "Cop" which is another I haven't seen since the VHS days but I remember really liking him in that too).

@@tigerblue42 yes, that young girl was Kim Richards and she was in Escape From Witch Mountain (Disney Movie) a year earlier and I think that’s what really shocked people. She just couldn’t settle for Vanilla Ice Cream. 🥲
