Unforgettable experience etched in your memories 4eva' An enjoyable journey for the 1st time and also for the 2nd time. A pleasure to watch your video😊😊😊
wonderful video.. you always show the different cultures and areas in your travels. Your sister seems like a great person also. Enjoy your wonderful vacation with your hubby, sister and puppy..
Congratulations miss fanni,as long as that tattoo will stay in ur skin ,u will always remember ur travel adventures here in the Philippines, hope u can visit other beautiful destinations before flying back to Hungary, keep safe always💪👌🤟👍🇵🇭
So cool! Nice...! I have an idea for you. Someday (before someone does), you should do an international gathering of all those people who have had a tattoo from Whang Od. That would be epic! :-) Cheers!
What an easy thing to say. Do you think it's easy to gather thousands or maybe even up to tens of thousands of people that don't come from Philippines alone but from all over the world? And where would you even gather these much people? But let's assume that you're able to convince all these people to gather in one place. THEN WHAT? What then are you going to convince them to do next?
@@topscris doubt it. Realistically, if anyone throws out the invitation, not even a thousand might show up. If 5 people show up from anywhere, that would still be a blast and a blessing to have new friends. That's all that maters... and to be positive about it. But, you do you.
I can imagine! This is why we are going on our own because Jonathan is an excellent and careful driver. I would be so scared going with a driver that drives fast!
Hi Susie and yes marijuana plant is abundant in that area because of the cool climate up there and it is legal just like eating dog meat for the locals only and dog meat makes you feel warm when consumed good for cold weather. And your sister Fanni is part of history as well.
Oh that's good to know! I read it's because they don't want to change the traditional ways of the tribe! It's just not allowed to take the plants down from the village
Thanks Susie for this vlog. It's so nice for you and Jonathan to have your sister with you experiencing the Philippines together. I'm glad she's having so much fun. What does the 3 dots tattoo mean? All 3 of you have it. I don't know the significance of it but I like it.
Thank you so much and thank you for the support 😊 The three dots is her signature a symbol of her and her two nieces who are the last 3 people who are keeping the traditions of butbut tattooes by blood 😊
@@SusieinthePhilippines wow.. those 3 dots are really special - not only because it's her signature tattoo but also because of what it stands for that if not for the 3 of them this art would be a lost tradition. So very cool to have. I've never wanted to have a tattoo but this makes me want to have it just because of what it stands for. Thanks for the explanation!
OMG sister is more brave then me lol. I would of been yelping on the first stroke of that needle. Hope you are enjoying Cebu. Love watching you guys. Take care.
Haha it's not that bad I'm actually extremely scared of needles (I almost pass out at injections) but I survived this 😁 the fact that you know it's something special and beautiful helps
I hope more people will watch your vlog so they will see all the beautiful and unique places that no knows about yet up north. Because all what they know is palawan, siargao, boracay and its kinda bit boring to watch those places now.
I'm glad you're enjoying the vlogs! The Philippines has so many beautiful places although I wanna see everything including the tourist spots, I always find hidden gems and lesser known places to be the most special and beautiful ones! 😊
Cordilleran languages have sounds that do not exist in a lot of other languages. Whang-od for example. The "Wh" is actually pronounced like an F, but with the lips NOT touching (like you're blowing air out, while pronouncing W). Which is why her name is sometimes spelled as "Fang-od". It's similar to Maori (who are also Austronesians like Filipinos), who also pronounce Wh in the same way. Even the name for "tattoo" in Butbut Kalinga is "whatok", sometimes spelled "fatok". While in "standard" Kalinga, the word is "batok" or "batek", the same as in Tagalog and Visayan languages.
We arrived the day before and we choose to have the tattoo at the morning instead of the day we arrived. It's not that crowded there on week days it's only bad on weekends 😊
since my parents are in Heaven. We moved from manila to Hawaii in 1974 and moved to California in 1976. will someday visit Philippines. Will do it for my Parents. Miss my mom Filipino Cooking.

I think the government especially the dept. of tourism and Philippine historical commision should fix, organize , subsidise the village and the families of apo wang od...
Do you have an idea how long the tattoo from Whang Od takes to do ? (Don´t have any yet, so bit scared of how long it will take. Because not a fan of needles and pain) . And is there an agency you use to book the trip? Or how does it work?
It's a really quick tattoo about 5 mins max 😊 I'm super scared of needles and blood / pain as well (I pass out at injections) but this was fine. It hurts but not unbearable especially if you pick a less sensitive area on the body. You don't need an agency, you just need to make it up to Buscalan by private vehicle or overnight bus from Manila + jeepney. You will end up in the Buscalan Turning point where you will be assigned a Tourguide who will assist you to the village and arrange your tattoo appointment and homestay. 😊 If you message me on Instagram I can send you the contact of the family who we stayed with and who did Fannis tattoo 😊

That's why it's so difficult to pronounce, unlike tagalog that is usually pronounces how it's written so I rarely have hard time with that
