  • Fix Repair F51 on Whirlpool Cabrio Rotor Position Senor can be purchased on Amazon Cabrio Washer F51 Fixed.
First press PAUSE/CANCEL once to clear the Fault code from the Cabrio display. If code appears again put it through an automatic diagnostic cycle while you enjoy a nice soothing cup of tea. (Watch The Cabrio Diagnostics Video); This will reveal any stored Fault codes. Then you will be able to better use the repair guide to fix the major malfunction. Now put the tea down and get to work!
Cabrio dU Fault Door/Lid cannot unlock (Stored Fault Code F83)
Is there excessive weight on the lid, such as a basket of laundry that my keep the lock tab from moving back into the lid lock? Excessive weight will keep the lid from unlocking.
Is soap, fabric softener, or anything else keeping the lock from moving back into the lid lock?
The washer control board cannot determine if the lid lock is unlocked. Check lid lock connections to the control and lid lock resistance levels.
Press PAUSE/ CANCEL once to clear the code.
Cabrio F1 Fault Primary Control Failure (Stored Fault Code F60-F68)
The Cabrio's F1 fault flashes when there is a primary control failure. This is a general code saying something within the control has gone wrong. Before you replace the machine control assembly unplug and reconnect all of the wire connections several times to make sure that they are making good contact. If that doesn't work try this link. Control Module part# W10189966
Cabrio F2 Fault Keypad/User Interface Failure (Stored Fault Code F2)
The Cabrio's F2 fault displays when in:
    • Diagnostics Test mode if a stuck key is detected.
    • Standby mode if there is a user interface mismatch. More Information Cabrio F40 Fault ATC Thermistor Open/Short (Stored Fault Code F40)
The Cabrio's F40 fault code flashes on the washing machine's display when the washer control detects an open or shorted ATC Thermostat. The ATC Thermostat is located on the washing machine's water valve.
    Washer Diagnostic Modes and Tests
Cabrio F41 Fault Motor RPS Thermistor Open/ Shorted (Stored Fault Code F41)
The Cabrio's F41 fault code flashes only during diagnostic testing on the washing machine's display if the motor rotor position sensor (RPS) thermostat is detected as open or shorted by the washing machines control.
Cabrio F50 Fault (Stored Fault Code F50) Motor Stalled
The Cabrio's F50 fault code flashes on the washing machine's display when the
motor rotor position sensor (RPS) senses no rotation.
Does the Cabrio's inner wash basket turn freely?
Remove the inner tub and look for objects that may be keeping the tub from moving freely, like a sock or small towel.
Check all RPS connections for good contact.
See Cabrio Washer Motor diagnostic Tests
Cabrio F51 Fault (Stored Fault Code F51)
The Cabrio's F51 fault code flashes on the washing machine's display when there is a motor rotor position sensor (RPS) failure.
Check for good contact at the control Board and at the RPS. Sometimes disconnecting and reconnecting the RPS plug connection several times will clean off corrosion that may be affecting the contacts.
Cabrio F52 Fault (Stored Fault Code F52)
The Cabrio's F52 fault code flashes on the Cabrio's display when the motor rotor position sensor (RPS) senses rotation after a stop command.
See Cabrio Washer Motor diagnostic Tests
Cabrio F53 Fault (Stored Fault Code F53)
The Cabrio's F53 fault code flashes on the washing machine's display when the washing machine control detects a high temperature at the motor.
Does the inner wash basket turn freely?
If not, determine the cause of friction.
Cabrio F54 Fault (Stored Fault Code F54)
The Cabrio's F54 fault code flashes on the washing machine's display when the Washing machine control detects high current at the washer's motor.
Does the inner wash basket turn freely?
If not, determine the cause of friction.

It works wonderful, just by cleaning with alcohol.. btw, i wasn’t sure what that meant so I just dripped a little on a q-tip and a drop on the green sensor.. IT WORKS YAY’nn

F51 code intermittent. Ordered the replacement part. Finally the F51 was constant, unable to do laundry. Decided to clean the sensor while I waited for the part to be delivered. Whoa!! turned it on its side and lo and behold…the bolt was loose. Tightened it with the 1/4” Allen. Seems to be running perfectly after 3 loads.
Thank you for the very helpful video. I’ll keep the new part handy until it’s needed.

The first thing I noticed when I tilted the washer was the allen screw was very loose, however I did follow all of your steps but everything looked good inside. I put everything back together and ran trial load and it worked!! No more F51 code. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with the rest of us.

You’re my hero. I tilted the washer to the right and propped it up with a jack stand. (A 16” stack of books would work too. So would a 12 pack.) The big Allen screw was partially backed out - perhaps the problem. I was tempted to just tighten it, but I already had all the tools you mentioned under the washer with me, so I removed the sensor and blasted it with contact cleaner. (A pocket knife is good for gently prying up the little clips that hold the sensor to the hub.) I put it back together and it works well. 1 hour job, including vacuuming under the washer. Ugh! Thanks for taking the time.

Thanks for the video. I had an F51 error code just like you showed. When I tipped the washer back, I noticed the Allen bolt had backed out about 3/16 of an inch. I tightened it backup with a 1/4 inch Allen wrench - no more error code! In hindsight, the washer would sometimes make an odd clunk sound when it was not running at all. Now I know that this clunk sound was caused by the rotor sliding down the loose Allen bolt.

Thanks, good video. I found nothing wrong but cleaned it all up, lightly sanded the little surface corrosion off the stator, cleaned the rotors up and removed the sensor PC board from the holder to verify visually if it had evidence of burnout, none in this case.
After reinstalling it all, the code F51 was still there doing a manual code test. I accidentally hit the START button and it entered, I guess, a self test and cycled through code "C1 through C9" and stopped, this cleared the F51 code and right now all is working. Is this how you actually clear a fault code?

Hi, My Bravos F51 issue seems to be weight related. Pulling 3 towels out of the washer enabled the washer to run to completion flawlessly. A worn or dirty sensor would not seem to me to be the issue in this case. Any thoughts? Tx very much.

Thank you..I had a job today to work on someone's washing machine. same error code.. When I lifted up the washing machine I noticed the allen fastener that holds the stator cover was very loose. I know that was the problem but for the heck of it I took out the sensor anyway and checked it was actually clean so I cleaned it anyway to be sure.. I believe the problem was the fastner thats holds the stator cover was actually unscrewing. Put everything back. tightened everything up no more error ..

HELP😩😤😩I can't get mine to go into standby mode.. as soon as I plug it up it keeps beeping and flashing f2.. I've tried the turn knob thing and push/hold for 3seconds button thing.. I even tried pressing the start/pause button twice and the power/start/pause button thing in the beginning..
I have no clue how to stop that incessant beeping and flashing to even get to try to reset or enter diagnostic mode.. any help would be greatly appreciated😩🤓😤

Great how to video, easy repair, BUT the one thing that could have made it better is if the sensor clip portion was actually shown in detail - that was the hardest part of my repair, not being able to see the clips (black on black in hard to see area) and this took more time to explore than the entire repair. Also, while the stator is unplugged, it would have helped to have the stator coil test procedures included to verify the resistance between the three plug posts (with a digital Ohm meter the readings are zero, or sensitive movement meter less than 2 Ohms between posts). If there is no continuity between any of the three posts, then there is stator coil damage.
On my repair I found the rotor hub center bolt was very loose, causing a thump I feared was a broken rotor, but it only resulted in a damaged sensor and changed the drum suspension springs - one of the long suspension drum springs broke and made it go wildly out of balance on agitation and spin - probably had something to do with the hub bolt backing out and causing the sensor to fail.

Thank you so much for this video, this saved me a bunch of Money. I am ordering the part tomorrow. I do have a question, i had (gear tease looking) all over the center parts. Is this normal or is this another issue? Anybody. Thanks

      @bundysgarage  5 ปีที่แล้ว

No that’s not normal. Means the 2 bearings on the inside are going out or have gone out.

Could be debris under the tub, could be loose stater bolt. Or it could be the sensor....

The only thing i couldn't figure out is exactly which part was dirty and needed to be cleaned. A circle around the "pickup" would have been helpful.

F51 error few months after going thru this repair... seeems the drum gets stuck and cycle cant start (just chugging noises from motor) - UNTIL - i manually forced the drun to turn, it held for a second before giving and started turning. Restarted wash cycle and seems to work. Till the next time it invariably happens (every few days at this point)... any ideas are appreciated.

It sounds like your bearings are shot. Is it super loud when the drum spins? Check out this video as well: th-cam.com/video/Hhkj8zQmL6I/w-d-xo.html

My machine went through all the cycles but didn't give me an error code but there is definitely something wrong with my washer. It puts in a little water and skips the wash mode and then starts spinning.

On the sensor you will see what looks like copper pick ups. The side that was facing the rotor, that’s what you need to clean. Hope that helps.

tony amadora don't change out the board. Ended having a tech out and he said it was usually never the board. The wiring harness he said comes apart easily. Hate to say it but I got a new used washer..that wasn't a whirlpool. They got me.

Unfortunately I changed out the sensor and have the error message returning as well. I hear you saying that it’s probably not the control board. Is there anything else I can do other than buying a new washer?
