Why? Great movie. Directed and co-written by Dan Aykroyd with a cameo by Digital Underground, including Tupac. John Candy in two roles. Fucking classic.
I was 11 years old in 1985 and saw Fletch for the first time when it came out on HBO and have loved it ever since ❤ also love Fletch Lives, both are hilarious !
Very cool recap of Fletch, but the Chief was the local LA police chief. Even got his photo taken with Tommy Lasorda. You'll like Chief Karlin; he's a nice man.
I actually may have enjoyed "Fletch Lives" more than the original. Comedy sequels are very challenging to pull off and I have to admit, I laughed quite a bit. Back in the late 1970's and 1980's, Chevy Chase was in top comedic form. Caddyshack, Vacation, Fletch, Three Amigos, Fletch Lives, and Christmas Vacation are make for guaranteed fun time.
Chevy has made some of the funniest films ever, in the 80s...The Fletch movies, Caddyshack, Vacation, Seems Like Old Times. Later, Christmas Vacation and Funny Farm. That's why I believe he is the best screen comedian ever.
The author of the book, naturally would have issue with Heelyweird production, as many authors don't understand the film concept, "Show it, don't tell it." An author only has words, at their disposal, after all.
Fletch was a better film but Lives was funnier. I still use "Gave it up for Lent" as an excuse all year round. Chevy Chase is in so many of my favorite 80s comedies; therefore most of my all time favorites. If you want a weird underrated 80s comedy to retrospect, do Midnight Madness.
I'm with you thinking the sequel is pretty damn good. I'm not quite sure why so many dislike it so completely, except those who can't handle its political angle. I think many haven't even watched it but just want to jump on the bandwagon. But then I also don't get why so many dislike Caddyshack.
Fletch is trademark Chevy Chase movie only I never heard of sequel, and Chevy very positive about movie where Groundhog Day Bill Murray and Harold Ramis friendship ended forever.
Fletch is one of the greatest Chevy Chase Comedies of all time. Unfortunately the sequel Fletch Lives squandered what made the original so great. There was supposed to be a third movie to wrap up the trilogy but given the failure of the 2nd movie the third part was prematurely cancelled.
Fletch is perfect and has a decent plot. In the sequel Chevy Chase has lost all his energy, as he allegedly had at the time. He is almost as bad as in Nothing but Trouble. Jon Hamm: Pretty good.
I think Mick Jagger has been considered for a lot of huge roles for which he was completely inappropriate. And the roles he did get, he was basically terrible. Greatest actor who wasn’t.
Harold faltermeyer did the best score in this film, top gun 1 and 2, tango and cash, running man, fatal beauty, and Beverly Hills cop 1 and 2. You spelt and pronounced his last name wrong.
Fletch was great and perfect in every way. A cult classic. One of Chevy Chase’s best movies of the 80s. The sequel was ok but to be honest a cash grab and wasn’t based on a book by Gregory McDonald and wasn’t as good as the original.
Perfect? I don't know about that. But the Fletch films are a lot better than people will give them credit for. I'd say the closest Chevy has ever gotten to a perfect comedy was Christmas Vacation
Chevy Chase was on fire in the 80s, so many hit comedies
Say what you want about Chevy Chase but he has talent.
But don't be passive aggresive.
Had talent. He hasn't done anything good since he quit doing cocaine.
F'n weird0s. He's a actor not ur F'n best friend.
@@MutantsInDisguiseHi! It’s me🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love both of these films!! These two and Spies Like Us were some of my favorite films when I was a kid
2 of my all time favorite movies. I’ve always loved them both and I liked how they stayed similar but also wildly different
You mentioned the "Provo" sheriff two times and he's actually the sheriff in LA
Chief Jerry Karlin
(BTW) FALTERMEYER not "Flatermyer"! 🙄
No, no. Flatermyer.
He's no Danny Efellman or Hanz Mizmer, I tell you that much!
Agree with you. One of my favs from the 80s.
Fletch the first..Is filled up to the brimm..with one liners..on top of one liners..:)
Nothing But Trouble! It's from the 90's but fantastic!
And another great Chevy Chase movie
You’re smoking dope.😂

Fletch is a top comedy from the ‘80s. Right up there w/ Airplane & Johnny Dangerously.
Knock at the door, Fleth opens it, sees a beautiful woman standing there - "Hi, what can I do to you.. for you...." 😏👌🤣🤣🤣
😎🇬🇧
I love these two moves
Very cool recap of Fletch, but the Chief was the local LA police chief. Even got his photo taken with Tommy Lasorda. You'll like Chief Karlin; he's a nice man.
Too funny, great Sunday flicks
Appreciated this. Those were some of my favorite parts as well.

The Mackenzie family didn't even give you a warning, first. Cold, man.😂
Fletch Lives is just perfect
I looove it.
I feel the first one's pretty much perfection and the second is plenty of fun. Few could play the dry smartass like chevy chase
I bought the 2 films of Fletch on dvd from amamzon several week ago, just haven't watched them yet.
Of course as a child the only scene I remember from the 1st time I saw Fletch Lives is the Tex Cobb “Ben Dover” scene 😂
1985 was the height of western civilization.
I love these movies. Never got them as kid but re watched as adult in college back in 2000’s. Hilarious
best movies of the 80's
The author of the book, naturally would have issue with Heelyweird production, as many authors don't understand the film concept, "Show it, don't tell it."
An author only has words, at their disposal, after all.
I love them both. Fletch Lives is more laugh out loud funny than the original.
Forgot how much I used ro love these movies. Thanks for reminding me 😜
Please review "Brewster´s Millions" and "Trading Places"
Fletch was a better film but Lives was funnier. I still use "Gave it up for Lent" as an excuse all year round. Chevy Chase is in so many of my favorite 80s comedies; therefore most of my all time favorites. If you want a weird underrated 80s comedy to retrospect, do Midnight Madness.
Not alot of people seem to feel like me but I really like Caddyshack 2. Not as good as the original but has a place in my heart.
Hey. Great review. How about Caddyshack 2
Wouldn't mind a review and back story on "Under the Rainbow", another Chase gem.
I'm with you thinking the sequel is pretty damn good. I'm not quite sure why so many dislike it so completely, except those who can't handle its political angle. I think many haven't even watched it but just want to jump on the bandwagon. But then I also don't get why so many dislike Caddyshack.
Great movies. Chevy Chase was great
@JoBloOriginals
It's Harold Faltermeyer, not Flattermeyer.
Yes, they are
i love Fletch
Fletch is trademark Chevy Chase movie only I never heard of sequel, and Chevy very positive about movie where Groundhog Day Bill Murray and Harold Ramis friendship ended forever.
Spies Like Us!
I love him so much that the fact that he is an asshole in real life just makes him that much more endearing to me lol
In some ways Fletch Lives is funnier, to me.
Yes. Yes they are
Fletch movies were great.
Fletch is perfect and has a decent plot. In the sequel Chevy Chase has lost all his energy, as he allegedly had at the time. He is almost as bad as in Nothing but Trouble. Jon Hamm: Pretty good.
I saw Fletch lives first and, in my opinion, it is the funnier movie. But both are very funny and laiden with quotables. "Using the whole fist doc?"
Whatever I just hit a water buffalo I need to borrow a towel
Do a review of "Zapped! & Zapped! 2" the 80's version's.
I think Mick Jagger has been considered for a lot of huge roles for which he was completely inappropriate. And the roles he did get, he was basically terrible.
Greatest actor who wasn’t.
I rewatch these in VHS quality rips about once a month. Just fun movies.
I like Fletch lives....but in 89 it was overshadowed by his biggest hit...Christmas Vacation....Fletch was good but Griswold was great.
Erm.....he isn't the Sheriff of Provo, he's the Chief of Police in LA.
2 m's, 1 o, and 2 t's in Smmott, i think
One of the handful of instances where the movie is better than the book
Harold faltermeyer did the best score in this film, top gun 1 and 2, tango and cash, running man, fatal beauty, and Beverly Hills cop 1 and 2. You spelt and pronounced his last name wrong.
Do romancing the stone
"for god don don..."
The Breakfast Club. ❤
You laugh at one joke and miss ten others
Ryan ret as Fletch
Did you actually say FLATermeyer ?
Faltermeyer
😂😂
I questioned a second date with someone because of their lack of knowledge of the films
FLatermeyer? 😅
It's like, "Mr. Barber." "No, that's 'Babar'."
@@dnasty312 I don't have any elephant books

Dan Harmon: WTF☹️

Condorman!
Jeff bridges would have been amazing
Why fletch got new hundreds in his waistband? Hahahaa
Fletch is awesome but Fletch Lives is extremely weak in comparison. It's still quite watchable but it's definitely a big step down.
Harold FLATermeyer? Really? ...
Ok calm down.. this ain't no fast time at ridgemont high soundtrack.. stop it hahaha
this joblo guy uploader is a sociopath
Chef of police LA
Great first movie but the sequel was pretty bad.
I dislike Chase as a person, sounds like he wasn't easiest not nicest person to work with. But I loved Fletch.
The movie is meh the soundtrack is awesome!
Harold Faltermeyer.
Yes the composer of Axel F.
It’s Harold Flattermyer 😂
@@conorbrierley1no it’s faltermeyer. Not flatermeyer.
@@andrewgardner8972 I know it’s Faltermeyer! Did you watch the video and hear him mispronounce his name?
Fletch sucked bad.
