Dude, the back of the jaw hair is my biggest problem. It always wants to clump up and poof out. So im actually in the process of growing it longer so the weight helps a bit.
Why don't you just apply and comb through the beard jelly first and then straighten with the blow dryer? The jelly will protect the beard hair just the same as the heat shield product and save buying another product. I apply my oil/balm or jelly first and then use my blow dryer on warm at low speed and it works great.

Instead of Comb, I use a Beard brush when I have to blow dry the beard, I have crazy curley beard, so I have to blow dry pretty often
I am 7 months into my "yeard" and I always blow dry my beard. I am using balm in my 75% dry beard when blow drying. Is that really bad, or do you think it will suffice? I just received my Fresh Beards beard oil and I have a Artius Man beard oil sample pack on its way. I will be applying the oil before drying in the future, but was really curious about the balm. Brother, I am absolutely distraught. I went to a barber for the first time in over 20 years. I've had 4 months worth of growth. I figured I'd get a pro haircut which I have not had for over 20 years, I usually cut it myself but, the wife is getting tired of going over the back of my head.
Anyway, I figured I'd have him do a maintenance trim on my beard. He took too much off. It's not all gone but it sure feels like I'm starting over!
