D-Rose | The Story Behind Derrick Rose

  • When he burst onto the NBA scene nearly a decade and a half ago, we had never seen anyone quite like Derrick Rose. He was a unique blend of speed, power, and a 40-inch vert in a point-guard's body. But his star light began to burn out almost as quickly as it appeared.

Rose should never be in the same conversation with T-Mac and Grant Hill in the "what ifs" Rose is one of the few truly what ifs.
T-Mac played for 10-11 good seasons before start getting hit by injuries. He wasnt gonna get any better. We saw what he could do. Lots of talent and surely couldnt get past the first round of the playoffs ever.
Grant Hill got injured at 28 years old. He wouldnt get any better at basketball , he'd just be more experienced.
Rose was literally a hatchling. 23. And an MVP already. Not to mention he took the 2010-11 Bulls on his back and carried them to the ECF. Best record in the whole league , with 2 of the major pieces in their lineup missing about 30-35 games each (Noah and Boozer).
This man is a first ballot hall of famer no matter what. no whats and no ifs. The only what if is this, how great he could've become? How many times would he be in the finals? How many rings could he have gotten?

fuck no. Bulls did rose dirty by trading him. Dude played hard and was the backbone of the franchise back in his prime years. Lead the team to first seed against NBA era that was just filled with superteams. Dude was super loyal to his hometown team but they traded him after his injuries. Dont understand why they want rose in the bulls back again when they dont even want him to be there

  • @fornlike

I myself have knee problems for years and at the time when becoming a great basketball player was my dream, I often suffered sprained ankles (I keep track of them today, more than 20 years later). It's partly because I've been through many injuries myself that watching a basketball player get hurt in the middle of a game is one of the hardest things for me to see. I've seen many NBA talents get seriously injured, but the injury I'm going to regret more than any other is Derrick Rose's first injury.
After this kind of injury, psychologically it's almost done: you will now pay attention to some of your moves for fear that the worst will happen again, and when fear gets involved, it is never without serious consequences.
He's really the kind of player I've always wanted to see: he's rich and he gives all he got without calculating (frankly! going to dunk in front of guys of about 6 feet and 7 inches and succeed when we are only 6 feet and 2 inches). That's partly why this short video made me cry because I don't think we'll ever have a player with such a mix of explosiveness, speed, courage, intelligence, jumping skill, shooting skill, energy, generosity, humility... and that is hard to accept for the basketball lover that I am.
When I think of the case of Derrick Rose, I wonder if the world deserved to see how far this player could go. At least Heaven allowed him to shine bright enough to claim the title of youngest MVP in NBA history, and that helps bear the sadness that surrounds this basketball genius.
He remains for me a unique basketball player, and the most incredible that I have ever seen.

*Derrick Rose a Short Story* : After vanquishing a group of 5 brutes in the dusty arena in the city coliseum, Lord Derrick Rose, The Rebloomed Knight, opened his arms and basked in the glory of being the local hero. He closed his eyes for a moment and remembered a time when he was not just a local legend, but The People's Champion. He smiled for a moment then opened his eyes to a dense shower of roses thrown from the crowd, falling impossibly slowly.
He turned towards the tunnel gate and waited for the match runners to give the order. The bald, slender man adjusted his robes and nodded to the stadium guard. The guard nodded back and cranked the gate open, making way for the entrance of Sky Hawk Knights of Atlanta.
They quickly darted in different directions and surrounded Rose, each staking their position with an aggressive pose. The Rebloomed Knight smirked for the slightest moment and then looked up again. He remembered his time he was closest to the sun and smiled just like before.
He then swiftly lifted his sword and struck the broad side against his parrying shield, prompting cannons situated outside the stadium, aimed over the wall, to shoot a million rose petals into the air.

Derrick Rose is the only player who could ring chase while improving his resume or legacy. I wish the Milwaukee Bucks could have got him this season. He would have been the perfect six man for them. But instead he is wasting his time and energy CARRYING a New York Knicks team in the playoffs who is about be “swept” 4-1 by the Hawks. He doesn’t deserve to experience playing his heart out while his teammates play like they don’t even wanna be in the playoffs. At this point of Derrick Rose’s career he should not be the guy who plays and CONTRIBUTES the most on your team. If you watch the series between the Knicks and the Hawks, Derrick Rose is the only one showing up and it’s so sad. Meanwhile, their supposedly best player in Julius Randle is nowhere to be seen smh. It’s literally Derrick Rose vs. The Hawks.
