I still cry when I hear him sing this heartbreaking song.....There will never be another Keith Whitley.....What a waste!......One of the best country singers of our time....Gone but not forgotten!
There are a lot of "great country western singers" . but the "late, great Keith Whitley, is the best of all time", I don't care who says otherwise, just listen for yourselves. It is Keith Whitley, who helped me get my life back together , back int 1989 and for that ,I am eternally grateful.
I am 25 years old and I grew up on Keith Whitley's music and to this day, whenever I am lucky enough to run across one of his live performances, I am still absolutely amazed and in total awe of how much talent this man had. He was an amazing performer and artist who left this world much too soon. If ole Keith was still around, traditional country music would've never left. What a gem, thank you so much for posting.
So Sad About Keiths death, He Was A Great Singer & Performer. A Great Job On This "Lefty Standard'. Great Job 'Keith". He Really Put His heart and Soul Into It..
Ah yes amazing. Carson Chamberlain on that steel defines country music. Now he is a great songwriter and producer, Billy Currington writes with him a lot and Carson produces his albums. Thats why Billy Currington sounds country.
I loved his music, my heart was broken when he passed away...such a young age..addiction can be hard to beat for some...I know he would have gone on to have a wonderful career!!
the man on pedal steel is carson chamberlain, sound familiar? He is an outstanding record producer and writer now for instance he produces most of billy currington. I dont know if he still plays sessions or not but i wish he would play pedal steel these days.
damn what a great waste in a talent, just makes me think and wonder why he chose the bottle. i guess some would say that a great songwriter has to have their heart broke to write a great song. and a man to have this type of legendary talent must of had his heart ripped out. sad... COA ...
@namesvoorbugvall too bad he never wrote it and never gave credit for it on the video. It was done WAY better by Merle Haggard and written by Lefty Frizzell.

Definitely died way too soon. His voice says more than words could ever mean. Traditional country music lives in his voice!
