Yeah. I posted a comment how I'm not a fan of country, but yeah that's why I love this track. He oddly reminds me of Jim Croce (who I love) in some ways. Time in a Bottle and Gunga Din have an unmatched sense of melancholy and sadness today's music cannot reproduce.

I wish all country was still like this. Honest, pure, wholesome. Folks Take a seat and take a listen cuz this is REAL country music. They don’t make em like this anymore.
My mother watched Keith grow up from playing Bluegrass festivals to an amazing, but too brief solo career. The day he died my mother cried like he was her own child. Alcoholism is a thief that takes everything from you including your life.
Alcohol, meth, heroin, and cocaine have all been things in my life that started off as being a solution to my pain and deficiencies, a friend when i felt lonely, and a magic potion that eliminated my insecurities and awkwardness when talking to or trying to get to know and date women. .Its a rough road but it can get better. I hear a lot of heartache in Keith Whitleys lyrics.
I know about this as my brother is an alcoholic and has been for years. It is such a shame since Keith's career was really getting hot. I think today he would be one of the greatest country singers of all time and would be in the CMA Hall of Fame along with George Strait, Garth Brooks and Alan Jackson.
Keith Whitley has one of the best singing voices of all time. It's such a shame he passed away at such a young age. What an incredible talent this man had! This has always been one of my favorite country songs.

Friend, is it any wonder lightning strikes me?
I've fought with the devil
Got down on his level
But I never gave in, so he gave up on me
I'm no stranger to the rain
I can spot bad weather
And I'm good at finding shelter in a downpour
I've been sacrificed by brothers
Crucified by lovers
But through it all, I withstood the pain
I'm no stranger to the rain
When I get that foggy feeling
The one I'm feeling now
If I don't keep my head up, I may drown
But it's hard to keep believing
I'll even come out even
While the rain beats a hole in the ground
And tonight, it's really coming down
I'm no stranger to the rain
But there'll always be tomorrow
And I'll beg, steal, or borrow a little sunshine
And I'll put this cloud behind me
That's how the man designed me
To ride the wind and dance in a hurricane
I'm no stranger to the rain
Oh, no, I'm no stranger to the rain
I'm no stranger to the rain
I'm a friend of thunder
Friend, is it any wonder lightning strikes me?
But I'll put this cloud behind me

I just saw on another place online that Keith is FINALLY a member of the Country Music Hall Of Fame along with Jerry Lee Lewis!!! And I'll say......IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME!!!!!!
Amazing how a song can be untouched by time and be great forever
One of the best voices of 90’s country. Sad that his addiction took him out. 😢
Hello Kimberly 👋 Simple music can make you sing, a simple hug can make you feel better, simple things can make you happy, I hope my simple hello will make you smile.
80s
I would say a voice of 80s country seeing as he died in 89
Here I am in 2023 and still loving this song
Hell 2024!
@@AdrianTomlin-tx3so ditto!
Man,it doesn’t get much better than this. Classic country tune!
I'm so glad to see other folks out there who like this music.
In my opinion, it's true Country !
Yessir, absolutely! This is one of my favorite songs of all time.
This man's voice reaches in and grabs your soul. We only had him for a short time, but oh God what a time.
I had by Grace of God seen The lovely beautiful and talented Mrs.Lorrie Morgan Whitley, just recently widowed "sing" a duet with this truly irreplaceable man at The MA fair "The Big E". They sang "Til each tear you cry becomes a rose". Some ppl. They are simply too beautiful to be on this earth.R.I.P. Keith Whitley.
2024..... Still one of the Greatest artists.. lost too soon.... Keith's vocals are heaven sent.
"We are in a golden age of music. There will be a time when technology becomes so advanced that we'll rely on it to make music rather than raw talent...and music will lose its soul."- Freddie Mercury
When I listen to today's music, i remember this quote. How correct he was.
Songs like these are so unappreciated.
Edit: It's a misquoted statement. Sorry for my ignorance.
NerdyTechniques my dad’s musics are still best than now😂
It's cool seeing this here. I'm a huge Queen and Freddie Mercury fan and I never knew he said that. Do you remember the source? Was it in an interview or something?
@@Gambit22003 What might be even more amazing is how many Queen fans we have watching this. I like them both too.
Not so sure ,one thing technology cannot do is live soulful lives and write songs like this from the heart!
@@Gambit22003 I checked internet and came to conclusion that Internet is full of fake quotes😅
The guy had the voice of a God
Hey Joseph 👋
My favorite country song of all time.....my favorite country album of all time.....what a great great singer....soulful...hurtful..beautiful....
zion-is-real mine too we lost Keith Whitley to soon to alcohol addiction at the age of 33 years old when he passed away he was such a very talented man just lost him to soon the king of COUNTRY music singer number one and always will be and his music will always live on forever
Mine too !
@@jeffpalmer5502 thanks for agreeing with me on Keith Whitley
I often wonder why men with so much talent drink do drugs and kill themself why there never seems to be an answer to this guestion ?.
@@estherbraham1228 .....awe....from my 53 yrs around the sun i would say that these incredible country n western singers n entertainers recieve gifts from GOD almighty but satan then takes them by alchohol...drugs....traveling the planet....seducing spirits till these poor souls are taken by satan....i pray for keith whitley his demons caught up to him.....and ultimately it cost k whitley his life ...and others like him....randy travis is one of the very few who had a guardian angel with him....
Poor Keith.......he had so much more to give us. Hope he’s restin’ in peace and singing to the Lord. 🌹🌹🌹

Alcoholism is only the synthom of what is really killing a man.
( those are secrets of the heart)
Rest in peace, Keith
One of my all time favorite steel guitar parts in a song, so clean and perfectly fits it 👌
This is my #1, MOST FAVORITE country song. His use of meteorological terms to tell his story is simply BRILLIANT! Love his smooth as chocolate silk voice.
You're absolutely right..... Good morning how are you doing over there it's another lovely day that the lord has made

Today was 32 years ago the legend died too early.
Still breaks my heart. Sorry he was in so much pain in his life!
I just wanted to say I love Kentucky.
Where did all that time go? I too sadly recall his death. He has a legacy of songs we relate to
@@andralee1964 agreed he is my favorite COUNTRY music singer
Amazing how such legends can touches people who were not born when they already died.
