  • Thanks for taking the time to watch! Here are a couple links to purchase the Thrustmaster T.16000m FCS HOTAS
    I realized after uploading there were a few times I misspoke and called this the T1600 and a typo at the end of the video calling this a T.6000m. Because I uploaded this at 1080p 60fps and in a effort to save myself 4 hours, I figured a simply "Sorry, you know what I meant to say" would be good enough for you fine people :)

    After owning both for quite a while now I do actually prefer the X52 Pro in most games except if you need a really good analog hat. Which the 16000m throttle has and the X52 does not. The small mouse nub on the X52 can be programmed as such but its extremely limited throw distance makes it nearly impossible to make micro corrections.

    This is a great Hotas for Elite. And yes the Analogue stick on the back of the throttle is amazing for use with lateral and vertical thrusters. I've had this a week now and am very happy indeed. The stick has NO DEAZONE so you will get 1 to 1 movement with the in game pilots arms.

    That's a good review right there right there. I just heard about this unit today and I'm pretty impressed so far. That analogue stick on the throttle looks really handy comparing to the 4-way hat on my x52 Pro, which is starting to wear out to where I needed to add some deadzone in Elite.
    The T.16000 FCS has many more buttons than the x52, and some things like the two-stage trigger, two rotaries, the slider, the mode switching, and the MFD (that likes to create new ways to spell the word "profile") just never get used. Only in Rise of Flight did I use the rotaries and slider for things like mixture and radiator control.
    Also, Amazon ships this to Australia, so woooooooo.

    The X52s analog stick works fine for us over in DCS, as we tend to use them to slew the laser for laser guided bombs and things like that.

      Quick question here: did you use the Logitech software to change the purpose of the mini-stick from controlling the mouse to a proper axis usable in DCS? Man I wish I could get a happy medium between this and the X52. Been using the X52 for over a decade, mostly with FSX and now ED and SC. I like a lot of the features you showed, but not having the pinky trigger may be a deal breaker for me. I use the pinky trigger for Flight Assist Off in ED, and Uncoupled in SC. Basically the same but the physics are a bit different. In combat in both games I switch back and forth between them constantly, and Voice Attack just doesn't react fast enough or reliably enough to use it that way. Thanks for the up close look and comparison.

I have done the slider upgrade already and the pot to hall sensor upgrade so I can't give a factory review I never used it straight out of the box . The reason I did the upgrades straight out of the box is ... well I'm broke and most likely will not be able to ever get another stick of any kind . I did the upgrade so it would last longer . The pot in the stick tends to fail after a year or so and its super easy upgrade . The same with the slider upgrade .

    It's funny you say the stronger spring is more realistic, I'm looking for the comparison you're making because I have the old 16000M and for me, the springs are WAY too strong, and not at all what I'm used to by flying real aircraft. They are actually way more gradual, they don't have this strong centering like on the 16000M. The X52 seems more appealing to me exactly for that, I'm still on the fence because of the throttle side.

    • @Joshua-by4dc

    The T16000 M looks like a good, solid product.
    I am also torn between getting a x52 and this 16000 M. Honestly I like the arcing motion other throttles have. There apparently aren't as many buttons which StarCitizen will definitely need.
    Also, and this is a teeny minor gripe... the colorscheme. Instead of going for a neutral black/grey, Thrustmaster decided to go for a bright orange which just doesnt jive with my setup at all.
    Honestly, if the Warthog stick had a twist, it would be a no-brainer for me, but it doesn't. To get everything out of a warthog in a space-sim you also need pedals.. which is yet another purchase.
    thanks for the review, it helps a lot.

    • @PCPAyLOAD
      @PCPAyLOAD  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fizzlefuse - I find that it really depends on what kind of games you plan on playing with it. If you're into space sims I would highly recommend something with an analog mini stick which the x52 Pro does not have. It has a small Mouse nub on the throttle but does not work as an analog stick very well as stated in my review. If that's not important to you, the x52 Pro is tried-and-true and is very nice ergonomically.

    • @Fizzlefuse
      @Fizzlefuse 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The analog stick does seem like a very nice feature. I am looking for a good setup to play space sims, primarily Star Citizen. I'd like to get something by the time 3.0 rolls around so I figure I have a few months to decide.

    • @PCPAyLOAD
      @PCPAyLOAD  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fizzlefuse - If you have a few months to wait, I would hold out for Logitech to possibly fix the X-56 rhino or even replace it with something else. With space sims on the rise, Logitech would be wise to put out some competition for Thrustmaster and would expect to see it sometime in 2017.

My only complaint about the throttle after about 2 weeks of pretty consistent use is that I feel it need a little bit more lubricant on the metal rails it slides on. Im getting a slight hitching when not putting any down pressure on it. And I do emphasize slight. Some people wouldn't even notice it.

    i have an x52 pro. and the stick broke.
    it sheared at the shaft (too heavy on the throttle twist)
    after opening it up I'm amazed it lasted this long (i've had it for over 3 years) the whole stick is held together at the twist point by a plastic tube with the front cut out of it so that cables can pass through ... so basically a quarter of the shaft doesn't even exist
    I was never that happy with the build quality of the stick anyway but i really like the throttle. there is just too much play in the stick. (i did the cd holder mod to tighten the spring a bit) but the centering was never accurate.

    Great video man, I just got a set of these in from Amazon a few days ago and it was a good deal for the price. Although I like how your Saitek's stick has less 'jump back' to the center. I say that because I play Star Citizen right now with mouse and keyboard and I am wondering if you would make a video of using the TARGET software and mapping the Thrustmaster set to use in game. I am kind of a noob when it comes to key mapping, but I did log about 250h in Elite Dangerous with a CH Pro throttle/Logi 3D Pro joystick. Mapping keys in Elite is so much easier than in SC. So I'm hoping you could do a video tutorial on binding your new T16 FCS HOTAS so all of us could get a good idea of what to do and how to set the buttons properly. Thanks again and my name is ARIOS-X1 on SC if I ever see you around the verse!

      Arios X1 - Thank! Im actually no a huge fan of thrustmasters TARGET software and find that its much easier to simply take the time to use SC's keymapping. CIG has done a really good job of giving you everything you need in game vs making profiles in software like TARGET and running them in the background. To be safe I always export my keybindings from SC when im finished just in case future updates erase them.

I loaded it up and left everything on default, ran the script and then when I launched SC I was getting severe lag, like 5-10 fps...so yeah I don't want to use that. I'm a bit confused on how to map in SC, there is 4 Joystick/HOTAS options, thanks for the reply, I'll go search how to do what you just said.

      Ergonomically speaking the x52 throttle is much more comfortable and button placement is much better. However it does lack a true analog control which is nice to have. It does have a small analog Mouse nub but is no good for movement bindings. Overall I think the x52 is a better buy because it feels higher quality in general and has much lighter spring on the stick so it makes micro adjustments easier. The thrustmaster is very stiff off of Center and tough to make small movements without overcompensating.

      Ideally, you want to have the X52 Pro stick with the Thrustmaster TWCS throttle. The Thrustmaster TWCS can bought separately. The X52 joystick cannot.
      It is a painful situation if you're in the market for a new HOTAS and I wish both companies would update their products. Logitech / Saitek should add real ministicks to the throttle and the joystick could use one as well, like the X56.
      The TM T.16000M should be replaced with something better entirely. Although it has hall sensors (only on X and Y axis, not on Z axis), it feels like a budget product. Ergonomically, the Logitech 3D extreme Pro and even the TM T-flight stick (the actual budget joysticks) are superior and the lack of buttons limits you to playing arcady games.
      The situation is much better in the higher-end which is currently ruled by VKB and Virpil. Both have products so good that it doesn't really matter which one you pick. They both have it all. Except have at least $600 ready in your wallet if you want a HOTAS. I just wish Saitek never would've sold to Mad Catz. Even now in the Logitech's ownership, it's just a zombie company. The innovator coming up with new great value for money offerings from the 2000's is long gone.
      As for Logitech, people have been asking for a new 3D Extreme Pro stick, updated with magnetic sensors for 2 decades now. That pretty much says it all about their interest in this niche, doesn't it?
      Also, you don't want any Saitek joystick from the Mad Catz era if you're buying used.

      MrSabifa - Well it really comes down to 2 things. Preferred tention on the Stick and Anolog inputs. The T.16000m has what would consider about 25-30% more stiffness/tention on the stick and a very nice anolog hat for your index finger on the throttle. Where as the X52 Pro is very light on stick stiffness/tention and only has a small anolog mouse nub at the thumb position on the throttle which is not all that great for space sim movement. As far as accuracy they are both very precise. I have no complaints about either one. I actually like the X52 throttle better for its ergonomics but its been out for quite a few years and needs some physical updates to accommodate newer games. Both Accurate setups, both good quality but for space sims I like the T16000m. Flight sims either one would be fine.

Also, the x52 pro throttle feels much smoother and has a bit of resistance which I like versus the t16000m throttle which is very cheap feeling and the t16000m throttle requires longer fingers to reach all the buttons without moving your hand. I upgraded from the Hotas X to this and so far I am having a really really hard time with the throttle not having an indent for 0
    Any suggestions to make this work with a full range setup? I am not a huge fan of using a button for reverse especially when it registers throttle forward as the power to reverse and it messes with my brain hardcore.

    Hey there bud, love the video, in depth yet simple review and unboxing, but I have a question, between x52 pro and TM16000M, which one would you recommend me to get? Because I can't decide between the two but I read a lot of reviews that x52 pro stopped working or broke them so it would great if you could recommend it based on your experience.
    Thanks

      Crono Gamer - Id recommend the Thustmaster. Not only is it less expensive, it has much more updated software and more useful anolog features. Ive been using mine for about 5 month and its the best bang for the buck
