I know becuase I summited everest, and had what is most likely the worlds best high elevation suppliment courtesy of our nepal everest mountain guides. Who always climb everest in February, to avoid all the traffic and clogs of people at the camps. Frosbite salve for the face, the best cold weather clothing, and the high elevation suppliment. Every February, Mt Everest had a 6-10 day stretch of perfect weather for that mountain. Winds are only at 30-60 mph max, the sun is completely out most of that time, and your not going to feel the cold at all, other then a small part of your face, with the right clothing. With the anti frosbite salve, wont have to worry about frostbsite either. And with the elevation suppliment, you can eat properly most of the climb until you get above camp 4 and close to the summit. Then you just fast for 12-16 hours instead of 20 plus hours, and eat like a king when you get back down to camp 4. A good high elevation suppliment for the body, makes an extreme difference. And it is VERY VERY IMPORTANT TO TAKE. Why? Even the people who successfully summit everest during the time many other people are climbing, get stuck in a long traffic jam near the top where the body is most vunerable to the extreme elevation, these people have long term health issues that they deal with off and on long after they summit mt everest. If they are very healthy by eating the best diet for their bodies, and are aware of the best natural health methods, they will counter the long term health effects with ease, but for those who are not aware of these methods to keep themselves as healthy as possible, and this includes cold showers, and good deep breathing exercises, then it wont be good. Methods outside of what most people know(especially in America), are EXTREMELY IMPORTANT, when climbing everest. So please share this information with everyone you know. The guy above had mostly good information, but with everest, you must stay away from the mainstream american medical system, if you take immunizations and antibiotics, do not attempt everest until you break away from those and go to natural health methods. I wouldn't think that the same trend would be found in Sherpas considering that in the only test I'm aware of (which wasn't on Everest or K2) an American Astronaut swallowed a thermometer which monitored his core temp and during exertion his body would reach possible hypERthermia temps and while only resting for a few seconds plummit to risking hypothermia. This core temp. limbo in an ASTRONAUT is a testament to nature's ability to remain fluid. If I had to name a similar trend to the Eskimos Its gotta rekate to efficient use of body heat AND ovygen so it almost rules out anything but an inhanced efficiency in their mitochondria. Hey missed the critical point to keep in mind: You need to survive the death zone on your way up, but also on your way down. It's not just over yet when you reach the summit.
Easy 1.Throw all heavy stuff in the water 2. If you have a life jacket use it.If you dont have it ,Use some stuff that can float you 3. If you see a land , go .If you dont see any....ummm...just wait i guess
The timing I’ve always wondered- what do you do once you finally get to the top?? You could look at everything and feel proud of yourself, and maybe become somewhat famous for it but besides that there’s not much you could do from that point except for just- climbing back down
The descent from 8000 meter peaks is very very dangerous. People can get careless because they believe they have passed the hardest part and carelessness results in death.
50% of deaths on everest are on decent, what the video didn't mention is the summit attempts start at around 10pm-12am the night before the the planned summit time (it can take over two hours to get your gear ready and takes most people an hour just to strap boots and crampons) so if you plan to leave at 10 you are getting ready from around 8pm. Most don't reach the summit til after 12pm the next day, so you have already spent over 12 hours climbing in the death zone before you even start descending (and have probably been awake for nearly 20 hours), this is so you can descend in the daylight as doing it in the dark is practically considered suicide when you are that fatigued. If you read the plaques left for people that have died on everest most say "died on descent from summit". However more people die by avalanche then they do falling, exposure or altitude.
You can't survive inside a whale's stomach dumbass. If you do happen to be eaten by a whale, it'll squash you against the roof of it's mouth with it's tongue. If you do however survive that, very few, if any whales have a large enough throat to swallow you.
The world's tallest mountain is actually Mauna Kea in Hawaii. It is mostly below sea level though. Everest is still the highest in terms of elevation though.
